Ferus Smit informs it will launch Nb. 418 Nordana Star for Symphony Shipping on Friday, July 3, at its shipyard in Leer, Germany.

Nordana Star is the second vessel in a series of six to be delivered to Symphony Shipping. As her name reveals, the ship will be chartered out to the Danish company Nordana and sail in her fleet after delivery.

Nordana Star is of Ferus Smit’s Ecobox general/project cargo ship design, which is characterized by its flexibility of loading combined with very economical and ecological performance.

The ship’s main dimensions are 122.5 X 17 X 7.8 m (Loa X B X T), with 10,500 DWT, 429,000 cft hold volume.

The Iceclass 1A Nordana Star features a 3,000 kW main engine, two 85 tons cargo cranes, a large single hold of completely box shaped form, a large loading floor area for project cargoes, including complete movable tweendeck. Its deckhouse is placed on foreship for better protection of deck cargo and enabling to load oversized items over the stern. Open top notation enables sailing in all weather conditions without maindeck hatches to transport large project cargoes without height restrictions.

The ship’s Ferus Smit ECO bulbless Canoe type bow is designed to reduce fuel costs and better sustained speed with excellent sea keeping behavior in harsh weather and sea state conditions, and its propeller is equipped with a duct for enhanced thrust at lower speeds and reduction of maximum installed propulsion power.
