Canada Maritime Earns World Trade Award

Canada Maritime has been given an award, reflecting the major developments the line has been involved in this year which have seen it invest in new tonnage and pioneer new services. It has been voted as one of the 'best ocean carriers' by the readers of World Trade magazine, who gave the award in terms of its record on service, reliability, price, technology, customer relations and on-time delivery. The award comes at a time when Canada Maritime is introducing into service, the largest ships ever to be deployed in the St. Lawrence River - the 4,100 teu containerships Canmar Venture and Canmar Spirit. It also reflects the start of the line's new weekly Pacific Gateway Service linking key markets in Canada, the USA and Asia and offering some of the fastest transit times between the continents. "It is obvious that some sections of the award relate to our traditional service sectors across the North Atlantic, and it is gratifying to think that our existing customers see that we are satisfying their high service requirements," said Terry Burrows, Senior Vice President of CP Ships, with responsibility for Canada Maritime. "We are very proud that the technology element recognises the huge efforts and investment we have made in improving our services across the Atlantic with the new ships and terminal investments at our Montreal Gateway.
