ADSB Scores $950 Million UAE Patrol Boat Contract

The United Arab Emirates has signed a 3.5 billion dirham ($950 million) contract with Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) to manufacture four new patrol vessels for the Gulf Arab state's navy, ADSB said on Tuesday.The Falaj 3-class Offshore Patrol Vessel contract was ADSB's largest ever order, which Chief Executive David Massey said gave it a sustainable and profitable future for the next five years.ADSB will build all four hulls in Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, and is responsible for integrating systems, he said.Massey told Reuters ADSB first entered into talks with the UAE for the vessel contract s

Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding, Leonardo in UAE Navy MoU

Abu Dhabi Ship Building and Italy's Leonardo signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday to work together to create a combat-management system (CMS) for the United Arab Emirate's navy ships, state news agency WAM reported.The companies will work jointly on an integration laboratory capable of testing, maintaining and evolving the software of Leonardo's combat-management system, which is operational on more than 20 of the UAE Navy's ships, WAM said.The agreement also covers potential development of a joint logistic support solution for preventive and corrective maintenance and a local spare parts inventory for Leonardo naval systems.Reporting by Asma Alsharif and Alexander Cornwell

Goltens Bolsters Middle East and India Teams

Several senior staff members have stepped up in the latest round of promotions at Goltens Worldwide. Goltens appointed Pravin Kirolikar to the position of Managing Director of Goltens Dubai. Kirolikar makes the move from Goltens India, where he served as Managing Director for eight years. Starting his career as a professional marine engineer, Kirolikar sailed for 13 years before going ashore to work as a marine surveyor for the Indian Register of Shipping. Prior to joining Goltens, Kirolikar worked in after sales services for Wärtsilä India for 12 years.

Rolls-Royce Extends Naval Services in the Gulf

Rolls-Royce has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Arab Emirates (UAE) based Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) to provide naval shipbuilding, repair and refit activities across the Gulf region. The MoU is for a definitive agreement for the provision of services, with the objective of becoming a preferred service partner to each other. The agreement will include fixed service rates for onsite service attendance and turnkey repair projects in the Rolls-Royce Dubai workshop.

Abu Dhabi Ship Building Adds New Dry Dock

Abu Dhabi Ship Building PJSC (ADSB) held a ceremony to inaugurate its new floating dry dock at its location in Zayed Port. The floating dock, which began servicing vessels in July 2016, has greatly enhanced ADSB’s commercial service offering, allowing the company to service larger ships and tap into new customers in industries such as oil and gas, the company said. Abu Dhabi Ship Building Expands Portfolio

Abu Dhabi Ship Building PJSC (ADSB), a leading provider of construction, repair and refit services for naval, military and commercial vessels, has expanded its customer portfolio to now include chemical tankers. ADSB welcomed its first chemical tanker at the new drydock facility at Mina Zayed, which was commissioned in July of this year. Mid Osprey, a 140m chemical tanker, is undergoing major repairs including the refurbishment of the ship’s accommodation. ADSB has also installed a high powered robotic washer and hydro blasting unit, a more environmentally friendly and efficient robotics system for hull treatment. It is the first time a shipyard in Abu Dhabi has utilized a robotic hull treatment machine.

Abu Dhabi Ship Building Launches Trainee Program

Abu Dhabi Ship Building PJSC (ADSB) has launched a training and development program which is designed to prepare young Emiratis for careers in the shipbuilding and repair industry. There are currently 40 trainees enrolled in the first class of the technician development program which provides young Emirati talent with the skills to become professional mechanical and electrical technicians. It includes both technical English and technical development skills. Trainees will receive 1,120 hours of theoretical and practical training over nine months through higher colleges of technology.

Abu Dhabi Ship Building Company will deliver three Baynunah warships to the United Arab Emirates Navy by 2016 and is in discussions with other buyers to sell more, its chief executive said on Monday. "There are discussions with some of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries as well as other international ones. Abu Dhabi Ship Building Expands Facilities

Abu Dhabi Ship Building has announced that it is stepping up its focus on maintenance, repairs and overhauling services, which has been one of the fastest-growing business divisions of the company. Abu Dhabi Ship Building is currently showcasing its advanced MRO capabilities at the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX), the only specialized maritime defense exhibition in the Middle East, being held from March 26 to 28, 2012, at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Each year, Abu Dhabi Ship Building handles approximately 300 repair and upgrade projects for vessels like tugs, barges, landing craft, dredgers, work boats, crew boats, diving vessels, supply and safety vessels and anchor handling tug boats.

Middle East Shipbuilder's Revenue Up

Revenues up, net profit down reports Abu Dhabi Ship Building Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) has announced that its contract revenue jumped by more than Dh200 million (US$54.4m) last year to Dh1.3 billion but said its profit had slipped. The yard is constructing its remaining 72 m Bayunah-class corvette of six  for the UAE Navy, and is hopeful of orders from foreign navies.

Injazat to Handle Critical IT Requirements of Abu Dhabi Ship Building

According to AMEinfo.com, Injazat Data Systems has been appointed by Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), to support the critical IT requirements of ADSB, the sophisticated military and commercial shipbuilding facility. Under the terms of the 5-year key IT outsourcing deal, Injazat will host ADSB's data at its 2,000-sqm design-certified Tier IV Data Centre, the first facility of its kind in the Middle East. The deal includes IT outsourcing, enhancement and virtualization of the ship builder's existing IT infrastructure and Enterprise Resource Planning implementation.

ADSB, Next Phase of Corvette Class Program

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), the leading shipbuilder and naval support services provider in the Arabian Gulf region, has commenced the next phase of its Baynunah Corvette Class pride Program constructions for the UAE Navy. The Prime Contractor has moved the second vessel from the assembly hall where it will pass through its final systems outfitting in preparation for its launching sometimes later in this year where it will go through an intensive acceptance trials prior to the final delivery to the UAE Navy. New Company to Support Gulf Navies

Gulf Logistics and Naval Support LLC (GLNS), a new Abu Dhabi-based company, was launched on July 27, offering a complete range of support services to maritime defense forces and other vessel operators in the GCC region. Abu Dhabi Starts Work on Landing Craft

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) has begun work on the first of two steel landing craft being built for the Royal Bahrain Naval Forces. The contract for the 137.8 ft vessels was won against stiff competition from international shipyards, further confirming ADSB’s position as the region’s leading provider of support services to GCC navies. It is ADSB’s first new building contract for Bahrain and also includes two 62.5 ft Sea keeper landing craft constructed in composite materials.

Hatteland Display Chosen for UAE Corvettes

Hatteland Display will supply 19 inch Series 1 displays for the MTU engine consoles aboard six new high speed corvettes being built for the UAE. The Baynunah Class Multipurpose Missile Corvettes are sophisticated 236 ft vessels that have a cruising speed of 15 knts and can reach a maximum speed of over 30 knts, which is achieved through the use of four MTU 12V595 TE90 engines.
