Offshore Wind: Newly Formed Consortium Orders Two CSOVs from VARD

The Windward Offshore consortium said Monday it had ordered two state-of-the-art Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) from VARD to "establish a sturdy basis for its maritime asset services focusing on bolstering the burgeoning offshore wind industry."Winward Offshore is a consortium currently under establishment and is led by SeaRenergy Group in collaboration with Blue Star Group, Diana Shipping Inc., and SeraVerse GmbH."Windward Offshore will play a key role in the energy transition by providing integrated offshore wind service solutions.

Vard to Build Second Cable Layer for Prysmian Group

VARD to Build North Star's Dogger Bank SOV Fleet in Vietnam

Norwegian shipbuilder VARD has won contracts to build three Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) for the UK-based North Star Renewables. Ocean Infinity to Expand Armada Fleet with 'World's Largest' Robotic Vessels

Fincantieri Lays Keel for Seabourn Ovation

The keel laying ceremony of "Seabourn Ovation", the second of two ultra-luxury cruise ships that Fincantieri is building for Seabourn Cruise Line, brand of Carnival Corporation, took place today, in the presence of the Italian Minister of Defence Roberta Pinotti, at the Sestri Ponente (Genoa) shipyard. The ceremony was attended, among others, for the ship owner by Captain Stig Betten, while Fincantieri was represented by the General Manager Alberto Maestrini. “Seabourn Ovation”, due to join the Seabourn fleet in spring 2018, will feature modern design elements and innovations and will be built according to the standards and cutting-edge technical solutions that make Seabourn one of the most prestigious brands in the ultra-luxury segment, continuing the fleet modernization started in 2009.

Converted OPVs Delivered to the Bangladesh Coast Guard

Fincantieri has delivered today at its shipyard in Muggiano, La Spezia the first two units part of the supply contract of four Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV), to the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG), through the upgrading and conversion of the Minerva class corvettes, decommissioned by the Italian Navy. These are the Minerva and Sibilla vessels, renamed Syed Nazrul and Tajuddin, which have been retired from the national fleet in May 2015 and shortly after arrived at Fincantieri’s dock in Genova, where the upgrading and conversion activities started.

UAE Navy Receives Fincantieri Patrol Boat

Fincantieri Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard in Italy has delivered the patrol boat 'Salahah' to the United Arab Emirates' Navy. The new ship's sister the Ghantut was delivered last January together with an "Abu Dhabi Class" corvette. The two patrol vessels – whose names come from an area of the Emirates near Abu Dhabi – were ordered in 2010 within the  “Falaj 2” program. The contract  provides for an option for a further two vessels in addition to technology transfer to a local shipyard for the construction of further sister ships.

Fincantieri Launches Indian Navy Ship

Fincantieri’s shipyard in Sestri Ponente (Genova) launched the second of two fleet tankers ordered by the Indian Navy, with delivery scheduled by the end of the next year. Present at the ceremony were Debabrata Saha, ambassador for the Republic of India in Italy and Alberto Maestrini, head of Fincantieri Naval Vessels Business Unit.
