Aquarius MAS + Solar Ready for Commercial Use
As a result of the recent successful completion of sea trials on-board the high speed car and passenger ferry, Blue Star Delos, Eco Marine Power (EMP) has now cleared the Aquarius MAS + Solar and Aquarius Marine Solar Power solutions for commercial release. During two days of testing and evaluation on the 17th and 19th May, 2015, the performance of the Aquarius MAS + Solar trial system on-board Delos was assessed by both EMP and Blue Star Ferries technical personnel as part of the Blue Star Delos Renewable Energy Innovation Project.
Wind/Solar Ship Power System Earns Patent
Eco Marine Power’s (EMP) Aquarius Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) System, a wind and solar power solution for ships, has been granted a patent in Japan, paving way for commercial production. The Aquarius MRE System is an integrated system of rigid sails, solar panels, energy storage modules and marine computer platforms that will enable ships to tap into renewable energy by harnessing the power provided by the wind and sun. The rigid sails that will be used by the Aquarius MRE System are based on EMP's EnergySail technology (Patent Pending).
Aquarius Eco Ship Concept Unveiled
Eco Marine Power Co. Ltd. (EMP) unveiled a concept ship design incorporating its Aquarius Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) System. This concept design is called the Aquarius Eco Ship and is part of Eco Marine Power’s ongoing development efforts aimed at moving shipping towards a more sustainable future. USV Powered by Renewable Energy
Eco Marine Power (EMP) today revealed details of its Aquarius Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) and announced that it will begin work related to the construction of a prototype. The Aquarius USV is being developed as a cost-effective unmanned surface vessel (USV) and will incorporate a number of technologies from EMP and its strategic partners. These technologies include marine computer systems and lightweight flexible marine solar panels. The Aquarius USV will be powered by a solar-electric hybrid marine power solution which will also feature a solar panel array designed by EMP.
Sustainable Marine Energy Lab Established in Japan
KEI System Ltd (KEI) and Eco Marine Power (EMP) have jointly established the Aquarius Innovation Lab in Osaka, Japan, which includes an indoor test centre plus an outdoor area for evaluating the performance of hardware such as solar panels, rigid sails & wind power devices. The Aquarius Innovation Lab will conduct research & design plus product development activities related to marine renewable energy systems and fuel saving technologies. In a step towards bringing renewable energy to shipping, Eco Marine Power (EMP) has been granted a United States Patent for technology related to its wind and solar power system for ships – Aquarius MRE. As a result, EMP now intends to explore joint development project opportunities in the United States and is currently considering a number of options. Pertamina Delivers First LNG Cargo to Nusantara FSRU
Indonesia's government controlled PT Pertamina said that the first LNG cargo produced with the gas sourced at the field has been delivered to the Nusantara Regas’ Nusantara FSRU in the Jakarta Bay. The shipment is the first LNG cargo since the official PHM became the operator of the Mahakam block as of January 1, 2018. The LNG gas cargo of 2 million per million british thermal units (MMBTU) is delivered to Nusantara Regas One's floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) in Jakarta Bay. The LNG Carrier Aquarius ship carried the LNG gas cargo on Thursday, (4/1).
Eco Marine Power Set to Measure Aquarius MRE System
Eco Marine Power (EMP) to use the KEI 3240 Data Logger to verify fuel savings & measure the performance of its Aquarius MRE System. The Aquarius MRE System is a wind & solar power solution for sustainable shipping, and the data logger is to be supplied by KEI System Ltd (KEI) of Osaka, Japan. The use of the KEI 3240 Data Logger will provide a ship's crew with real time information regarding how much fuel consumption is being reduced through the use of Aquarius MRE System. Fishing Vessel and Tanker Collide
Humber Coastguard received a MAY DAY call from the 13 metre fishing vessel Aquarius reporting they were taking in water with 3 persons on board approximately 16 miles East of Amble. Aquarius reported that they had been involved in a collision moments earlier with the 56,000 Tonne Bahamian tanker Alpha Germania, which was in ballast and on passage to Teesport. Humber Coastguard requested the launch of RNLI Amble Lifeboat and the Rescue Helicopter from RAF Boulmer, which is standing by with Coastguard pumping equipment. A near by fishing vessel called Rejoice attended the scene and has secured a tow line to Aquarius which has lost all steering but is not sinking.
Seadrill Gets Contract for West Aquarius
Reference is made to the Letter of Intent disclosed to the Oslo Stock Exchange July 10, 2007 regarding the assignment awarded to the ultra deepwater semi-submersible drilling unit West Aquarius. Seadrill confirms that the operator ExxonMobil has signed the award for the long-term contract to utilize West Aquarius for international exploration activities. The contract has a firm duration of three years and estimated contract value is approximately $570m. West Aquarius is currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea and is scheduled for commencement of operations at the end of the third quarter of 2008.
Wärtsilä Wins Contract to Supply Aquarius UV
Wärtsilä has won a contract to supply ballast water management systems (BWMS) to four platform supply vessels (PSVs) for Tidewater Marine, L.L.C., a provider of offshore service vessels to the global energy industry. The scope of supply for the vessels, due for delivery from the Cosco (Guangdong) Shipyard in 2014, includes four 250m3/hr capacity Wärtsilä Aquarius UV BWMS, which will be assembled and shipped from Wärtsilä’s manufacturing facility in the UK. The contract was signed with Cosco shipyard in August.
MCSS, EMP Enter Sales and Support Agreement
Sales and technical support agreement signed for Singapore and Myanmar. Eco Marine Power (EMP) announced that it has entered into a sales and support agreement with MINs Control Systems Solution Pte. Ltd. (MCSS) to sell and support EMP's renewable energy solutions for shipping in Singapore and Myanmar. These solutions include marine solar power systems and the Aquarius Management & Automation System (MAS). The Aquarius MAS is an alarm handling, performance monitoring and data logging platform suitable for a wide range of ships which can also be integrated with renewable energy solutions.
Design of Aquarius Solar Power Array Starts
Another step forward in the development of the Aquarius System was made recently when workbegun on the detailed design of the wind and solar sail panel. This panel or rigid sail will beused to harness wind & solar energy which will then be used to help power a ship thereby reducing fuel consumption and the emissions. The rigid sails are being developed by Eco Marine Power in co-operation with a number of development partners. The rigid sails will form part of an array which will allow ships to tapinto renewable energy at sea, at anchor or even when a ship is in harbour.

Wärtsilä wins contract to supply AQUARIUS® UV ballast water management systems to four Tidewater Marine Platform Supply Vessels (PSV). The scope of supply for the vessels, due for delivery from the COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard in 2014, includes four 250m3/hr capacity Wärtsilä AQUARIUS®UV BWMS, which will be assembled and shipped from Wärtsilä’s manufacturing facility in the UK. Ballast water treatment with the AQUARIUS® UV system is achieved through a two stage process. Upon uptake the sea water is first passed through a back washing filter (First stage). The filtered sea water then passes through a UV chamber (Second stage) where ultra-violet light is used to disinfect the water prior to entering the ballast tank.
