Great Lakes Wind Energy Takes Lead in $100M Project
According to September 19 report from www.Vindy.com, a Youngstown company is at the forefront of a $100m plan to build the country’s first offshore wind farm on Lake Erie. Great Lakes Wind Energy, a Youngstown-based renewable energy company, will partner with Bechtel Corp. — the company that built the Hoover Dam — and Houston-based private-equity firm Cavallo Energy to build five wind turbines off the lake’s Cleveland coast. Crowley Completes Discharge of Gas Plant Modules
Crowley Maritime Corporation's energy and marine services has safely completed the tug-and-barge transportation and discharge and delivery of oversized cargo across a remote beach in Cabinda Province Angola, West Africa to the Cabinda Gas Plant. In partnership with Chicago Bridge and Iron (CB&I) and Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (CABGOC), a wholly owned Chevron subsidiary, Crowley was contracted for the loading, marine transportation, discharging and delivery of oversize modules and support accessories to the Cabinda Gas Plant, which is about three miles from the beach landing point. The fleet required for the sealift included large (400 x100-ft.) barges, powerful ocean going tugs, small lighter tugs to assist in the beaching operation and a myriad of support equipment.
ConocoPhillips and Bechtel Renew Worldwide LNG Alliance
ConocoPhillips and Bechtel Corp. have agreed to renew their collaboration of pursuing worldwide liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. The collaboration will build upon the recent success of ConocoPhillips as a major owner and participant in the worldwide LNG industry, and Bechtel's recent awards in the engineering and construction of major projects in Trinidad and Egypt. "The ConocoPhillips-Bechtel collaboration continues our commitment to providing our LNG technology while leveraging our position as a pre-eminent participant in the LNG industry worldwide," said Rick Hernandez, ConocoPhillips' manager of worldwide LNG technology licensing.
