Brunswick Corporation Establishes Navico Group
Brunswick Corporation announced the formation of Navico Group, which will replace its current Advanced Systems Group (ASG). Navico Group will continue to be led by Brett Dibkey and represents a complete organizational integration between the legacy ASG business with two key acquisitions that were completed in late 2021 – Navico and RELiON Battery LLC.The newly formed Navico Group will be comprised of numerous brands that serve the marine, RV, specialty vehicle, and industrial markets.
Simrad Yachting Receives NMEA Awards
Simrad Yachting, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class marine navigation, autopilot, radar, communications and fishfinding systems, announced that its innovative NSE multifunction display and professional-grade autopilot systems received multiple awards at the 2010 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) convention held in Seattle, Wash. Judged by a panel of experts organized by Boating Writers International (BWI), Simrad NSE with 2.0 software functionality received “Honorable Mention” in the event’s most prestigious category, the “NMEA Technology Award.” Continuing a long-standing tradition as an industry favorite, the Simrad AP24 and AP28 also received top honors for “Best Autopilot” as voted by NMEA members.
Maine BEP Endorses Tank Barge Regulations
The Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) approved proposed Chapter 600 vessel operating regulations by a vote of five to one, with one abstention. Chapter 600 regulations address the operation of both oil terminal facilities and vessels transporting oil on state waterways. The regulations will be forwarded to the Attorney General for review and compliance with the state's Administrative Procedures Act. If the Attorney General approves the regulations, they will be sent to the Secretary of State's office for certification. WASHINGTON – The Coast Guard began issuing a newly revised U.S. STCW Endorsement, Form CG-5611 (Rev. 01-05), yesterday to qualified licensed and unlicensed merchant mariners. Over 59,000 U.S. merchant mariners hold a valid STCW endorsement. Mariners’ existing endorsements will be replaced at the time of their scheduled expiration or when their qualifications are upgraded. The new document contains significant security and accountability enhancements. The design is based on the U.S. Merchant Marine Officer License (Form CG-2849) and advice by senior intelligence officers at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Forensics Document Laboratory for cost-effective, fraud-resistant features; and the Production and Design Team of the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).
