Simrad Yachting, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class marine navigation, autopilot, radar, communications and fishfinding systems, announced that its innovative NSE multifunction display and professional-grade autopilot systems received multiple awards at the 2010 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) convention held in Seattle, Wash.

Judged by a panel of experts organized by Boating Writers International (BWI), Simrad NSE with 2.0 software functionality received “Honorable Mention” in the event’s most prestigious category, the “NMEA Technology Award.” Continuing a long-standing tradition as an industry favorite, the Simrad AP24 and AP28 also received top honors for “Best Autopilot” as voted by NMEA members. The latter award represents the 6th such NMEA award for Simrad Yachting autopilot systems.

The fully-networkable NSE system is a lightning-fast GPS chartplotter with fully loaded embedded cartography for out-of-the-box functionality. NSE also provides boaters with control of a range of onboard integrated functions – including industry-exclusive full autopilot control, StructureScan sonar imaging, as well as digital switching, monitoring and control of electronic systems on your boat through BEP Marine’s new CZone. The multifunction display – available with brilliant eight-inch or 12-inch screen options – also features plug-and-plug connectivity with the award-winning BR24 Broadband Radar, BSM-1 and BSM-2 Broadband Sounders, the SonicHub marine audio server and the WM-2 SIRIUS weather module.

Recognized as the premier autopilot solutions for both power and sailing vessels, the AP24 and AP28 autopilots feature enhanced auto-steering and seamless integration with all electronics – including plug-and-play compatibility with the Volvo engine system. Providing ultimate reliability and performance, both models boast state-of-the-art control capabilities, a crisp easy-to-view display and advanced SimNet networking.
