Damen Delivers Dredge Packages to Mexico

Earlier this year Damen Shipyards received the order for four complete dredge packages to be installed in trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs) currently under construction in Mexico for SEMAR. The identical TSHDs will be fitted out with dredge packages including the trailing pipe, a dredge pump, and various hopper loading and discharging equipment.At present, the four hopper dredgers are under construction at three different Mexican yards. Shipbuilding: Damen TSHD for Portuguese Dredging Company

Recently the Jose Duarte started its first mining job in Lisbon. The trailing suction hopper dredger has been built in Portugal for a Portuguese dredging company, to a Spanish design and using Dutch dredging equipment. The European cooperation has resulted in a customized dredger performing above expectations on her first job.Portugal has a long coastline and a number of busy navigable rivers – an excellent backdrop for the dredging company Inersel. When Inersel required an addition to its fleet, its preference was to acquire it within its home country.

Fast Delivery of Beloe More to Siberian Harbor Before Winter

The Beloe More recently joined its sister vessel Severnaya Dvina in the Port of Sabetta, northern Russia. The 2,000 m3 hopper dredger was delivered from stock to FSUE ROSMORPORT. The customized hopper dredger will perform maintenance duties and execute capital dredging in the newly created harbor.The Beloe More - meaning ‘White Sea’ in Russian - is not the first vessel Damen has delivered to ROSMORPORT. Damen Delivered Charlock’s Dredge Pumps

The state-of-the-art 3,200 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) Charlock has been equipped with two Damen dredge pumps. One highly innovative semi-axial dredge pump is fitted on the trailing pipe, the other dredge pump is mounted inboard. Both dredge pumps work in series, enabling a highly efficient dredging process. The semi-axial dredge pump is a new addition to the wide Damen dredge pump range. As for all Damen dredge pumps, it has been designed for the harsh dredging environment with special focus on minimizing wear and maximizing efficiency.

Damen TSHD Launched at Krasnoye Sormove Shipyard

A Damen Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 1000 was launched at the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard on January 29. The TSHD, named Sommers, is the lead vessel of a series of three TSHDs 1000 being built for Rosmorport. The TSHDs are scheduled for delivery this year, the contract between Rosmorport and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard having been signed in April 2014. Keel laying of the Sommers was held in November 2014. The other two dredgers are to be named Kronshlot and Kadosh respectively.

Royal IHC Launches Easydredge 2700

Royal IHC (IHC) has launched the first Easydredge 2700, the first vessel in its range of standard trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHD) to be delivered in summer 2015. The launch took place at the shipyard of IHC's partner, MTG Dolphin, in Varna, Bulgaria. The new vessel will be supplied with a "world-dredging package", which includes bottom doors, a bow coupling and a dredging depth of 25 meters. This makes her suitable for a wide range of tasks, from the maintenance of ports and channels, to land reclamation.

Royal IHC’s TSHDs Now Built for Stock

Royal IHC (IHC) is constructing the first vessel in its range of competitively priced standard trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHD). It has started to build the Easydredge 2700 for stock in response to the increasing global demand for TSHDs with an extremely short delivery time. The new vessel will be supplied with a “world-dredging package”, which includes bottom doors, a bow coupling and a dredging depth of 25 meters. This makes her suitable for a wide range of tasks, from the maintenance of ports and channels, to land reclamation, IHC Royal said. Fer Tummers, Managing Director of IHC’s Dredging Division, explained, "Building a TSHD for stock is a logical step forward for IHC. We are convinced that this is also an excellent opportunity for our customers operating worldwide.

Vosta LMG Launches Universal Mk3 Bow

Gone are the days when in order to enable coupling of the floating discharge line, it used to be necessary that the bow coupling installations on the dredges were of the same make. With the universal VOSTA MK3 bow coupling installation this has changed. Currently dredging contractors work with conventional VOSTA installations (MK1 up to MK3) and installations of other manufacturers. With the new universal bow coupling installation it is not only possible to couple a male part of VOSTA make – but also male parts of other manufacturers.

Trailing Suction Hopper Delivered

In January 2003 VOSTA LMG received an order from Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard for the design and supply of all dredging components for a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge (TSHD) for the Chinese Harbor Authority Huanghua Port. The dredge was handed over in a festive ceremony by Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard to Huanghua Port Authority on 11 November 2004, after successful dredge trials in the Yangtze estuary. "Shen Hua" has now started her duty; the required, continuos dredging work to maintain the required depth of the port waterway entrance of Huanghua Port.

VOSTA Package for New Manson Dredge

Seattle-based Manson Construction Co ordered a dredge component package with VOSTA Inc. for the 9200 m2 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge they are building at Alabama Shipyards. At present the dredge is under construction and will be delivered according to planning in October 2005. Via VOSTA LMG USA distributor Hagler Systems, VOSTA Inc will deliver 3 x 38 inch universal dragheads for optimal dredging results, the jet system into the hopper for mixture fluidization and a VOSTA LMG MK3-28 inch type universal Bow coupling installation for discharging purposes.

VOSTA LMG Builds TSHD for Dutch Dredging

VOSTA has been awarded with the contract for the delivery of a complete engineering and component package for a trailing suction hopper dredge for Dutch Dredging BV (Baggerbedrijf De Boer b.v.) in The Netherlands. The complete order consists of the design and engineering of a 2800 m3 trailing suction hopper dredge, including the delivery of the dredging equipment, propulsion systems, electrical installation, automation, hydraulic installation, navigation & communication systems. The vessel will be built under VOSTA LMG supervision at the Ben Kien Shinco Shipyard based in Hai Phong, Vietnam. This shipyard is part of the Vietnamese Shipbuilding group Vinashin. VOSTA LMG and Ben Kien Shipyard have co-operated before for the construction of two cutter suction dredges.

New Hopper Dredge for Great Lakes Company

Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company announced it has commissioned Bay Shipbuilding of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. to construct a new trailing suction hopper dredge, to be called Liberty Island. The new dredge will have a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters and is part of a continuing investment program the company has undertaken to ensure the quality and longevity of its dredging fleet. The vessel is to be built by Bay Shipbuilding, a division of Manitowoc Marine Group, Inc., of Milwaukee. Construction is being financed by MDFC Equipment Leasing Corp. Liberty Island will bring to 45 the number of hulls Bay Shipbuilding has manufactured for the 110-year-old dredging contractor. Steel cutting for the first module is scheduled for February 15, 2000 and delivery is scheduled for fall of 2001.
