Essar's Terminal at Kandla Port crosses 100 mi tonne throughput

The marine terminal of Vadinar Oil Terminal Ltd (VOTL), which is part of Essar Ports Ltd, has been the best performing terminal in the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) for two consecutive years. The terminal recently received a certificate of appreciation from KPT, which crossed 100 million tonnes of cargo throughput for the first time in FY 2015-16. VOTL is an integrated oil terminal located in Vadinar, Gujarat with 58 million tonnes capacity and handles crude oil and petroleum products.

Drydocks World Earns Five Star Safety Grading

The ceremony was attended by key decision-makers and professionals from the Middle East’s upstream oil and gas community and celebrated excellence amongst this sector. Drydocks World to Build Solan Underwater Facility

Stork Technical Services Wins ‘Ideas in Safety Prize’

Stork Technical Services has won the first ever ‘Ideas in Safety’ prize at this year’s UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards. Stork’s on-site machining & bolting team received the award for its innovative hot bolt clamp system, which enables the safe removal and replacement of corroded bolts on live flanged connections which have eight bolts or less. The award recognizes an individual or team working on a UKCS offshore facility who have developed an original idea for improving safety in the workplace focusing on hydrocarbon leak reduction.

Offshore Vessel Operators Gain International Safety Award

North Star Shipping has received a prestigious international award from one of the world's leading health and safety training, advisory and audit bodies. Following rigorous assessment by an independent adjudication panel the British Safety Council has bestowed its International Safety Award on North Star Shipping for the eleventh consecutive year. For an organisation to win this  award it must demonstrate that it has in place comprehensive health and safety policies, targeted plans and a clear commitment to health and safety from the shop floor to the boardroom.

Sixth Sword of Honour for Drydocks World

For the sixth year in a row, Drydocks World – Dubai (DDW-D), a ship repair, conversion and new building yard in the region and the flagship company of the Drydocks World group, has been the recipient of the British Safety Council’s (BSC) globally respected Sword of Honour. The award is in recognition of the consistent success the Dubai yard has achieved in applying internationally accepted safety standards. The Sword of Honour scheme, now in its 30th year, recognizes organizations that have implemented safety systems that are among the best in the world.

Drydocks World-Dubai New FPSO Quay

Drydocks World - Dubai, the ship repair, conversion and building subsidiary of Drydocks World, has added two new berths to its facility, significantly increasing its conversion capacity. Completed recently, Berths 9 and 10 are now fully operational and have recently accommodated the 380-metre long TI Asia, Abuzar and Spring Bow for conversion works. The announcement comes ahead of Drydocks World’s participation at Nor-Shipping 09, in Oslo, June 9th–12th, where the company’s yard capabilities in the Middle East and Southeast Asia will be highlighted.

Malta Drydocks To Get Safety Audit

Officials of the British Safety Council are due to carry out a safety audit of Malta Drydocks in March, Reuters reported. The council had carried out an audit of the yard last year and awarded it a three star rating out of five. A Malta Drydocks management official told the press it was hoped a better result would now be achieved. The loss-making Maltese yard is currently enjoying an upswing of work. The tanker Northia, owned by Brovig RDS of Aberdeen, is currently being converted into a floating production storage and offloading facility in the first project of its kind. Drydocks officials told the press that the $8 million contract was being carried out on time and the yard had been praised for its workmanship. The ship is being renamed Ikdam. The U.S.

MDD and MSCL Partner with Du Pont

Malta Drydocks (MDD) and Malta Shipbuilding (MSCL) have joined forces with the Swiss-based Safety Company, Du Pont Safety Resources, to implement a major safety improvement program involving all levels of employees throughout each business. The extensive and in depth program will last three years and has the objective of substantially reducing the number of unsafe acts that ultimately lead to accidents. Continuous work is ongoing to improve safety performance at both MDD and MSCL. Improvements in recent years have taken place with MDD being awarded the British Safety Council 4 Star rating in 2001. This new initiative will enable more progress to be made and takes the safety agenda to the forefront in both companies.
