Mobile, Ala. shipbuilder Silver Ships announced Steven Clarke has been appointed to the role of CEO. Clarke joined Silver Ships in 2015 as co-owner and chief financial officer. Since then, the company experienced a revenue increase of more than 40%. Clarke has focused on diversification of the Silver Ships customer base. Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has launched the second of two 302’x76’x26’ multipurpose service vessels in the HOSMPSV 310ES series for Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC., the shipbuilder announced. The new vessel, HOS Woodland (Hull 242), was launched at Eastern’s Allanton facility on Friday, June 19 at an event with hundreds of Eastern employees and guests in attendance. HOS Woodland is the second ship to be christened on Eastern’s newly constructed 425’ rocker beam system installed on the northeast corner of Allanton’s 760’ launch basin.

E-Crane agents and special guests attended the E-Crane Technology Showcase in New Orleans during the first week of December in conjunction with the International WorkBoat Show (IWBS). The three day event consisted of a dinner reception and presentations on the evening on Wednesday, December 3, as well as two site visits on the following days to see actual E-Cranes in operation. E-Crane guests and attendees were also given special access to the WorkBoat Show, and were able to attend the exhibit hall throughout the week.

Port leadership joined with Ports America to formally christen the stevedoring company’s newest heavy-lift addition to the Port of Hueneme, a Liebherr LHM 420 Litronic Mobile Harbor Crane. The new crane is the second Ports America crane to be put into action at the port. “This 376 ton mobile harbor crane greatly increases shore side productivity in tandem with our existing crane and increases our flexibility to work more than one ship at a time,” said Ports America’s site manager Kevin Beirne.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. announced that it has won contracts from Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC. for two 302’x76’x26’ Multi-Purpose Supply Vessels. Eastern is currently under contract to construct four 292’ and six 302’ OSV’s for Hornbeck, now adding two MPSV’s each built to a design from STX Marine. STX Marine with offices in Canada and the United States provides the design based on the very successful and proven Eastern Shipbuilding OSV/PSV Tiger Shark Class Series. These vessels will be U.S.

Rapp Hydema formed a new affiliate company, Rapp Hydema Canada Marine Incorporated. The new company will be associated with manufacturing and servicing of company’s lines, including winches and LARS (launch-and-recovery systems). Expanding government research vessel contracts brought about an expansion of both staff and facilities in nearby Seattle most recently, with both a new crane company (Rapp Hydra Pro) and 3,200-sq. ft. warehouse added. At the same time, “there has been increasing demand for Rapp after-market hydraulic servicing in the Vancouver, BC area,” saidRapp U.S.

Princess Yachts, luxury yacht builders, are using freestanding Goliath cranes from Street Crane Company to produce their new 30 to 40 metre M Class tri-deck yachts. The cranes, installed at the historic South Yard of the Devonport Dockyard, will allow large fabrications to be lifted, transported and accurately placed as the yachts are fitted out. There are three cranes in use. The main manufacturing area is serviced by two mirror image Goliath cranes of 16 tonnes safe working load, each spanning 13.75 metres.

On October 11, 2010, Konecranes announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire the Indian crane company WMI Cranes Ltd. (“WMI”). Konecranes has now received the required regulatory approvals, and WMI will be consolidated into Konecranes’ financial reporting from February 1, 2011. The acquisition is expected to be slightly EPS accretive in 2011. Konecranes is acquiring WMI’s shares in two phases. In the first phase Konecranes acquired 51 percent of the shares for INR 1,690 million (EUR 28 million). In the second phase, estimated to take place later during 2011, Konecranes will purchase the remaining 49 percent of the shares.

When the wicked winter weather begins to blow off Lake Erie, a shipbuilder and a crane company in Cleveland, Ohio, and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) will be glad they cooperatively commissioned and built a barge-mounted pedestal crane for the Lake Erie-Niagara River Ice Boom Operations in Buffalo, N.Y., to help reduce potential damage to hydroelectric power plants caused by Lake Erie’s inevitable ice. The NYPA asked Great Lakes Shipyard, a member of The Great Lakes Group in Cleveland, to fabricate and deliver a new 80-foot by 34-foot pedestal crane barge for the ice boom operation.

Oceaneering International, Inc. has appointed Philip D. Gardner as Senior Vice President, Manufacturing. Effective April 1, 2004, Mr. Gardner will assume worldwide P&L responsibility for Oceaneering's products group, which includes Oceaneering Multiflex and Oceaneering Intervention Engineering. In addition, he will have worldwide functional oversight responsibility for Materials Management and Quality Assurance in the oilfield sector. The fact that the actual incidence of oil cargo spills as a percentage of global shipments is minuscule can never be a reason for any relaxation in the constant vigilance and unerring drive for risk minimization which must be practiced in all fields of tanker shipping. Certainly, there is no evidence of complacency.
