Survitec, MRT Collaborate on Constant Wear Lifejacket

Survitec Group Completes Merger with WMS Safety Business

Survitec Group, a provider of critical safety and survival technology to the marine and defence markets, has announced the completion of its merger with Wilhelmsen’s marine safety business. The deal includes the transfer of all Wilhelmsen Maritime Services AS (WMS)’ safety related systems, products, services and competence to Survitec. The combined business will operate under the name Survitec Group. Survitec Group will have access to a £1.5 billion ($1.9 billion)  addressable global market and will have over 3,000 employees in more than 35 countries. The combined group will have a revenue of ~c.£400m and will create value for customers as a result of the cost and revenue synergies and the end-to-end marine safety offering.

Survitec, Ocenco Team Up to Meet EEBD Replacement Demand

Survitec Group, one of the world’s leading marine safety companies, is now working in partnership with Ocenco to replace thousands of M-20.2 Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBDs) that are reaching the end of their service life. When SOLAS amendment regulations II-2/13.3.4 and 13.4.3 came into force on 1 July 2002, all vessels had to be equipped with EEBDs. At the time, one of the most popular choices was the maintenance-free Ocenco M-20.2 EEBD. The 15-year service life on the first wave of products purchased to satisfy SOLAS is approaching, and many will expire in 2017. To help meet the high demand for replacement units, Survitec and Ocenco have agreed to work together.

Crewsaver to Debut New Inflatable Life Vests

Crewsaver said it will introduce its range of ErgoFit and Crewfit inflatable life vests at the 2015 Progressive Miami International Boat Show, February 12-16.   The new Crewsaver range offers comfortable, safe, stylish and affordable solutions for all types of boating and fishing activity, the manufacturer said.   Encompassing Fusion 3D technology, a Crewsaver vest will mould to the shape of the wearer’s body and sit off his or her neck to allow total freedom of movement.   The lifejackets await approval by the U.S. Coast Guard, though Crewsaver said it expects approval this summer.

Survitec to Display Growing Portfolio at SMM

Visitors to SMM 2014 will be able to find out more about Survitec Group's growing portfolio of products and services for the cruise, ferry, cargo, tanker and offshore shipping markets. At this year's show Survitec will be highlighting its RFD, SurvitecZodiac, DSB, DBC and Brude Marine Evacuation Systems (MES), Crewsaver lifejackets, Brude telescopic gangways and Brude fast rescue boats like the HD 720. Survitec will also be promoting its Global Liferaft Hire program, which leverages the largest service network of any liferaft manufacturer in the world.

Survitec to Exhibit Escape Slides at SMM

Survitec Group announced that it will showcase its SurvitecZodiac range of escape slides and liferafts at the SMM exhibition in Hamburg as part of the Survitec Group Stand (Hall B5, Booth 324) and will include presentations of what the company calls the most advanced escape slide systems on the market. Notable among these is the fully automatic ESS (Escape Slide System) MES escape slide system that can be launched at the touch of a button and made ready for use without any crew involvement.

Parmaris Appoints New Sales Manager

Parmaris, a U.K. manufacturer of lifejackets, appointed Pete Evans as Sales Manager. Pete, who formerly worked for Crewsaver for more than 16 years has a wealth of experience in the safety equipment sector which he brings to the company, including a number of years focussed on cruise and ferry commercial sales as well as commercial export and the leisure sector. Pete is also a very experienced racing sailor with many offshore and inshore miles under his belt, so he has first hand experience of using safety equipment at sea. The appointment coincides with an expansion programme at Parmaris, as the company adds 1000 sq ft of additional premises to their existing production facility in Birkenhead.
