Ardent Celebrates Second Year

Salvage and wreck removal company Ardent celebrates its second birthday with the passing of May 1, 2017. Ardent maintains a zero lost time incident record since its inception. “Despite the initial focus on implementing the merger and challenging market conditions Ardent has successfully won and executed 125 contracts over the last 2 years” said Ardent CEO Peter Pietka. “Salvage operations are inherently risk filled and completing 125 contracts without a single lost time incident is a testament to the professionalism of our teams,” said Pietka.

Crowley’s 2nd LNG ConRo Ship Ahead of Schedule

Shipbuilder VT Halter Marine, Inc. announced construction has started early for the second liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ConRo ship, Taíno, for Crowley Holdings, Inc. Taíno’s steel cutting ceremony was held May 27 at VT Halter’s Pascagoula, MIss. facility, following the start of construction for sister ship, El Coquí, in October 2014. Demand for Coastal and Transoceanic ATBs Grows

Along the way, ATBs gain speed, efficiency, safety – and popularity. Operators of articulated tugs and barges, or ATBs, say they like the maneuverability, weather reliability, stability, speed of these units, and the manner in which the tug pushes the barge. As a marine transportation concept, they can also simply be described as versatile. ATBs move petroleum, chemicals, coal, grain, containerized cargo and rail cars for customers on the U.S. coasts, rivers, the Great Lakes and overseas. As a result, demand for articulated units expanded in the last two decades with new technology.

Crowley Acquires Ship Management Company

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that it has acquired majority ownership of Accord Ship Management (HK) Limited and Accord Marine Management Pvt. Ltd. The Accord acquisition will be managed by Crowley’s ship management group, which provides all phases of commercial ship management along with full technical management and government contracting. It will immediately increase the size and scope of Crowley’s technical ship management group while supporting the company’s expansion into the international ship management market with a foreign crewing presence. The acquisition also makes Crowley a rare U.S. company - one that provides third-party international crewing and technical ship management.

Crowley Raises Market Funds Mainly for Newbuild Program

Crowley Maritime Corporation has successfully raised gross proceeds of $200 million through the sale of 200,000 shares of Series A Income Preferred Securities. The company says it intends to use the net proceeds from this offering in connection with its new vessel build program as well as for general corporate purposes. “We are very pleased to have concluded this important transaction for the company, especially as it offers a new source of capital to pursue our growth plans,” said Crowley's Chairman, President and CEO Tom Crowley. DNB Markets acted as exclusive financial advisor to Crowley. DNB Markets and Incapital acted as joint book-running managers for the offering.

Crowley Maritime Extra Sailing to Meet US/Caribbean Demand

The liner services group will offer ocean-freight customers a second weekly southbound sailing from Port Everglades, Fla., to Nassau, Bahamas. The new Saturday sailing day, starting Saturday, March 23, 2013, will give customers an additional option for the transport of their goods, including groceries, retail merchandise, building materials, refrigerated (reefer) products, and vehicles from Port Everglades to Nassau each week. The Monday vessel arrival in Nassau also aligns well with the logistical needs of the local market.

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s solutions group recently named Farhad Rajabi vice president of its project management team. He will work out of the group’s Houston office and report to Craig Tornga, Crowley’s vice president of solutions. Rajabi’s new role will leverage his 30 years of experience in project management and other marine solutions fields to establish objectives, plans, policies and procedures for the project management department.

Crowley Maritime Corporation christen 'Ocean Wave' & 'Ocean Wind' built at Bollinger Shipyards, based in Amelia, La. USA. The new tugboats were designed by Crowley subsidiary Jensen Maritime located in New Orleans. At 146 and 156 feet in length, and with a minimum bollard pull of 150 metric tons, Crowley’s new ocean class tugs will be outfitted for long-range, high-capacity ocean towing, rig moves, platform and floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit tows, emergency response and firefighting.

Crowley Sends First Articulated Tug-Barge to Guantanamo Bay to Deliver Fuel at U.S. Naval Base. MARAD Approves Title XI Loan Guarantee

The Maritime Administration has approved a $346,129,000 Title XI guarantee to Vessel Management Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crowley Holdings, Inc., for the construction of three 330,000 barrel double hull tug/barge units.  VT Halter Marine, Inc. in Gulfport, Mississippi is constructing the barges and Dakota Creek Industries in Anacortes, Washington has been retained to build the tugs.  The Title XI Loan Guarantee program provides funding to promote the growth and modernization of U.S. shipyards and the U.S. merchant marine.

Crowley Acquires 400 Additional 53' Containers

Increases Company Equipment Fleet to More than 45,000 Units. Crowley Successfully Completes Rapid Response for Emergency Aid to Bahamas Following Hurricane Irene. As one of the warehouses contracted by the U.S. Agency for International Administration (USAID) to provide pre- and post-disaster relief commodity storage services for the United States, Crowley Maritime Corporation's logistics group recently provided the rapid deployment of emergency aid commodities for the Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. Crowley's Miami warehouse is a distribution center for USAID relief supplies held for disbursement within the Western Hemisphere. Supplies are frequently called for, on an emergency basis, following natural disasters or in response to foreign governmental requests for assistance from the people of the United States.

Crowley Transports Race Car & Equipment

Crowley has added racecars to their list of unique goods transported by the company. Last month, the company transported the J.D. Jaguar race car from San Juan to Jacksonville for the first racing event of the season, the 2009 Sports Car Club of America Trans-Am racing title held at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia. Crowley Underway with 3 Container Cranes

This will mark the second delivery that Crowley has made in recent months with these types of cranes for Bickerton Iron Works, Inc. The first shipment included three cranes for the SSA terminal in Manzanillo, Mexico. Crowley Earns Environmental Awards

Crowley Maritime Corporation was recently honored at a Chamber Shipping of America awards ceremony with Environmental Achievement Awards for 2008. The awards recognized the environmental excellence of 57 Crowley owned or managed vessels based on having operated at least two years without any environmental incidents. The vessels operated a combined total of 382 years of service without incident. Three vessels - tugboats Point Barrow and Point Thompson, along with the tanker Blue Ridge - have each operated 11 years without an incident.

Crowley announced changes in leadership and company organization involving its logistics, technical services and marine salvage business lines. Rinus Schepen, Crowley's senior vice president and general manager of logistics, has announced his retirement effective in June 2009. Schepen, a 20-year Crowley veteran, has been a significant contributor to the company's success and will continue to work for Crowley on special assignments in retirement. Collar will become senior vice president and general manager for the group effective Jan. 1, 2009.
