Crane Company Tests Liquid Hydrogen Valve

Crane Company has successfully tested a new cryogenic valve designed and built for liquid hydrogen applications.This is the first valve launched from Crane’s CRYOFLO™ line of bellow seal vacuum jacketed globe valves, designed and tested by Crane, with final validation, review, and testing conducted by Chart Industries.Liquid hydrogen is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit colder than liquid nitrogen, and significantly colder than the temperature limit of most cryogenic valves. Kongsberg to Provide Electrical and Control Equipment for Yinson FPSO

Malaysian FPSO leasing company Yinson has ordered a suite of electrical and control equipment from Kongsberg Maritime for an FPSO vessel currently under conversion. Kongsberg Maritime will deliver E-house, electrical, control, safeguarding and telecommunication equipment solutions, and the deal also includes service support on board the Maria Quitéria FPSO owned by Yinson. FPSO Maria Quitéria is expected to start work in 2024 at the Jubarte field, part of the Parque de Baleias area in the North Campos Basin, Espirito Santo State, offshore Brazil, for the Brazilian oil company Petrobras.

Kalmar Forklifts Delivered to ENTP

The marine industry equipment manufacturer Kalmar has delivered a total of 18 forklift trucks to Algeria's leading drilling contractor Entreprise Nationale des Travaux aux Puits (ENTP).According to a press release from Kalmar, part of Cargotec, the company  will also support ENTP with parts supply and provide operator training to their staff. The machines, ordered in the first quarter of 2018, were delivered during the third quarter.Established in 1981, ENTP is the leading drilling contractor in Algeria with a market share of close to 45 percent. The company performs drilling and maintenance operations on both deep-water and hydrocarbon wells across Algeria.ENTP is a subsidiary of Sonatrach, which is Algeria's largest company in terms of both turnover and number of employees.

Bjørkeli was previously Director of Norway for the Dutch company Huisman, and established the company’s Norwegian presence for offshore construction equipment solutions. PALFINGER Makes Takeover Bid for TTS

The takeover bid made by the PALFINGER Group for the Norwegian ship equipment supplier TTS Group ASA, listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, was approved and published this morning by the Oslo Stock Exchange following a detailed review. PALFINGER aims to acquire 100 percent of the TTS shares. Apart from the necessary anti-trust approvals, the offer is also subject to the condition that at least 90 per cent of all the shares in TTS be offered to the PALFINGER Group (with PALFINGER having already secured acceptance of a total of approx. 66.3 per cent). The initial deadline for acceptance of the offer is 12 August 2016. The Board of Directors of TTS recommends that its shareholders accept PALFINGER’s offer.

Vard Bags Electrical Work for UK Polar Research Ship

Vard Holdings Limited's subsidiary Vard Electro AS has secured a contract for the delivery of an engineering and electrical installation package for U.K.’s new $290 million polar research vessel under construction for the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). Vard’s contract signed with Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Ltd includes engineering resources to support the shipyard in the drawing approval process, complete electro installation onboard, and systems and products developed by Vard Electro. The value of the contract is nearly $12 million. Expected to become operational in 2019, the 130-meter-long polar research vessel will be named RRS David Attenborough and will be equipped with VARD’s SeaQ Communications system…

Terex Port Solutions Acquires CVS Ferrari's Tractor Product Line

Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has acquired the assets of the terminal tractor product line from CVS Ferrari S.R.L. (CVS), which has been part of Manitex International, Inc. since 2010. The acquisition strengthens TPS’ position as a leader in integrated solutions for ports and terminals. The existing range of terminal tractor models will be further developed and marketed under the Terex site in Lentigione, Italy, which currently manufactures Terex addition to heavy-load forklift trucks. CVS will fulfill current supply contracts with its existing customers. At the same time, TPS is taking all necessary measures to quickly integrate the new products in its sales, R&D, production and service activities.

Wärtsilä Design & Propulsion Machinery for Pelagic Trawler

A new pelagic fishing trawler ordered by Scottish owner Mewstead LLP will be built according to a Wärtsilä design and will feature a broad scope of Wärtsilä propulsion machinery. The ship is to be built at the Nauta Shipyard in Poland and when completed will be the largest and most efficient ship of its type in the world. The contract with Wärtsilä was signed in November. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for mid-2017. The decision to choose the Wärtsilä ship design was based on the high level of efficiency derived from the optimised hull lines. This optimisation, together with Wärtsilä's highly efficient integrated engine and propulsion solution, results in far lower fuel consumption than would otherwise be possible.

Royal IHC Expands into Offshore, Mining

Royal IHC announced it has expanded its activities with the acquisition of Fraser Hydraulic Power (FHP) in the UK and Robbins Technology Group (RTG) in Brisbane, Australia. With these latest acquisitions, IHC has expanded its offshore rental fleet and gained a stronger foothold in the mining market respectively. Founded in 1986, FHP designs and builds systems for laying subsea cables and umbilicals with tracked engines and tensioners, cable carousels, and drum handling systems in its product range. These are supplied to the subsea telecoms, renewables, and oil and gas industries. FHP operates from a recently custom-built 28,000 sq ft unit at the Neptune Energy Park in Walker, Newcastle, which is perfectly located to support its customer base of offshore marine contractors.

Ulstein Implements Organizational Changes

Naming and organizational changes are underway in the Ulstein Group companies in the Netherlands. As of August 1, 2015, the ship design company Ulstein Sea of Solutions has been renamed Ulstein Design & Solutions BV (UDS BV), while the equipment company Ulstein Idea Equipment Solutions has been renamed Ulstein Equipment BV (UE BV). Edwin van Leeuwen and Gilbert Rezette enter positions as managing directors of the respective companies. Furthermore the holding company for the Ulstein Group activities in the Netherlands has been renamed into Ulstein Netherlands in which Sigurd Viseth takes position as managing director. He will also on behalf of Ulstein become Chairman of the Board in the Dutch companies.

ZPMC Orders Romica Equipment for DSV

Romica Engineering Ltd (REL) has signed a contract with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (ZPMC) to provide a triple drum winch and tooling deployment A-Frame system. This will support the overboard deployment and recovery of diver tools supporting subsea work. The equipment will be fitted on the current diver support vessel in build for Sealion Shipping Ltd, on behalf of Toisa Ltd, this DP3 Multi-Purpose Saturation Diving Support/Offshore Construction Vessel (DSV/OCV) demonstrates Toisa’s continuing commitment to the future of front-rank Saturation Diving/Construction vessels.

Wärtsilä Launches AHTS Vessel Design at Sea Asia

Wärtsilä launched a new anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel design at this year's Sea Asia exhibition held in Singapore from April 21-23. According to the designer, the focus of the new design is on simplicity, efficiency, low fuel consumption, and a reduced environmental impact. The equipment solutions are suitable for medium to large size AHTS vessels, where one of the key components is a two-speed gearbox system selected to meet the design targets of reduced costs and less complexity without compromising operational safety.

Finning Opens National Distribution Center

Finning has opened its £8 million purpose-built National Distribution Center in Cannock to support its continued customer growth in after sales support and maintenance. The warehouse facility in Cannock houses all of the dealership’s engines plus 60,000 different product lines, all of which are available for next day delivery. In addition the company has worked with their transport and logistics provider to replace eight of their existing trailers with new higher spec vehicles.
