Wärtsilä said it completed delivery of its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel supply system (LFSS) to 15 very large gas carrier (VLGC) vessels owned and operated by BW LPG, which has the world’s largest fleet of VLGC vessels.BW LPG ordered the first four of these 15 systems in 2018, immediately following Wärtsilä’s full-scale testing of a full-sized two-stroke marine engine operating with LPG fuel. This was the world’s first such testing protocol, and the performance attained was seen as exceeding expectations.

Mining giant and commodity trader Glencore has via its subsidiary ST Shipping extended the charter for the 2020 Bulkers' 'Bulk Shanghai' bulk carriers.2020 Bulkers said Friday that the charter would be extended for a period of 6-8 months from October 4, 2020. Norway-based shipowner 2020 Bulkers  has entered into a time charter agreement for its newcastlemax newbuilding Bulk Shanghai with a subsidiary of Glencore.The vessel will commence a 11-13 month time charter upon delivery from New Times Shipyard in early November 2019 and will earn an index linked rate, reflecting a significant premium to the Baltic 5TC index, said a press note from Bermuda-based new bulk carrier company.The time charter also includes a profit sharing of any economic benefit derived from operating the vessel´s scrubber, said the release.2020 Bulkers has two Newcastlemax drybulk vessels in operation and six Newcastlemax drybulk vessels under construction at New Times Shipyard in China.

Royal Caribbean International's Harmony of the Seas, featuring Wärtsilä engines, propulsion equipment, exhaust scrubber systems, Wärtsilä NACOS Platinum navigation and dynamic positioning systems, as well as Wärtsilä CCTV systems and various electrical & automation solutions, is now in commercial operation. The 'Harmony of the Seas' has also been included in a service agreement between Wärtsilä and Royal Caribbean covering technical management and monitoring under Wärtsilä Genius services. Matson, Inc., a U.S. carrier in the Pacific, took delivery of a new 65-ton gantry crane to replace one half its size at the company's Kodiak Terminal. Standing more than 340 feet tall at its peak with a boom spanning 164 feet, Matson's new crane is the largest in Alaska, capable of lifting loads up to 60 feet long and weighing up to 145,000 pounds. Ocean cargo shipper Matson, Inc. said it is moving quickly to fund improvements in its new Alaska operations following its May 29 acquisition of Horizon Lines' Alaska services. The company expects to invest more than $30 million in new equipment planned by Horizon prior to its acquisition. Two Ro-Ro vessels owned and operated by Stena Line are to be retrofitted with Wärtsilä in-line closed-loop scrubber systems. The scrubbers will be installed on the Stena Transit and Stena Transporter ferries operating between Hoek van Holland in the Netherlands and Killingholme in the U.K. The order was placed with Wärtsilä in December 2014, and the retrofitting is scheduled to take place in Q4 2015 and Q1 2016. By installing Wärtsilä scrubber systems, the ferries will comply with the regulations covering emissions of sulphur oxides (SOx) while using conventional residual marine fuel (HFO).
