Shipbuilder Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors has awarded TMC Compressors of the Seas (TMC) a contract to deliver a complete marine compressed air system for the 100 m long Rolls-Royce designed pelagic trawler the yard is building for Seattle based Arctic Storm Management Group.According to a press release from the Louisiana-based Thoma-Sea, which designs, constructs, and delivers vessels, tugs, and ships for the commercial marine sector, TMC’s scope of work is to develop and supply a complete marine compressed air system consisting of energy efficient service and instrument air compressors as well as air dryers. TMC’s contract value is undisclosed.The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2021, and it will be 100 meters long, with a beam of 21 meters.

International Maritime Organization (IMO) fuel rules entering force in 2020 mandate a drastic sulfur reduction. A Norwegian shipping firm on Thursday denied a tanker it manages had violated a European court ruling after Western Sahara's Polisario movement accused it of illegally transporting an oil cargo through disputed territory it claims. The Polisario independence movement this week called on the European Union and French authorities to seize a France-bound cargo being transported on the Gibraltar-flagged Key Bay because the tanker had made a port call to Moroccan-controlled Laayoune on Jan. The Polisario said the tanker's call to Laayoune had rendered its cargo illegal as it had violated a ruling by the European Court of Justice last month that two trade deals between the EU and Morocco did not cover Western Sahara.

Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet (ATF) has entered into contract with Vyborg Shipyard for the construction of a series of fishing trawlers. The shipbuilding contract, signed at the the International Forum "The Fishing Fleet - New Impulse to Development" in Murmansk in March 2016, entered into force in November 2016. For ATF, Vyborg Shipyard, a group member of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), will build four "turnkey" medium-size trawlers project ST 116 XL to be operated in the North Basin. Each vessel of the new generation will have on board a fillet factory, a fish meal plant, equipment for fish oil production, a can factory and will be equipped with cargo cranes with high capacity as well as a cargo trawl complex of the latest generation.

The world's biggest and most modern krill fishing factory vessel is to be designed by Wärtsilä. The vessel will operate in the pristine waters of the Antarctic, a World Heritage site, and the Wärtsilä design provides an appropriately sustainable environmental solution. The contract, which was signed in December 2015, has been placed by Shanghai based Hansail Marine & Offshore Design and will feature Wärtsilä's VS 6206 FT design. The vessel is to be built for Jiangsu Sunline Deep Sea Fisheries Co, based in China. Wärtsilä's extensive experience in designing highly efficient fishing vessels was an important factor in the award of this contract.

Jensen Maritime and Vigor will unveil the design for a new 352-foot catcher processor/factory trawler at the Pacific Marine Expo on Nov. 19. The design is the product of collaboration between Jensen, the design architect, Vigor, the shipbuilder, and three major fishing customers. It is scalable and can be adapted to meet the needs of any of the fleets in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The vessel has over 1,200 square meters (13,000 square feet) of processing space and can be set up for a variety of processing needs, from surimi to fillets to fish meal. Hold volume is split between a frozen product hold and a pair of fish meal holds, for a total hold capacity of over 3,090 cubic meters (109,000 cubic feet).

Parat Halvorsen AS has been awarded new boiler plant contracts for two freezer trawlers to be built at Tersan Shipyard located in Telova, Turkey. The boiler plants are for Tersan¹s newbuildings No. 1060 and No. 1066, which will be equipped with Parat combined oil fired and exhaust gas boilers, type MCS, to comply steam production for the freezer trawlers fishmeal and fish oil factory. Both freezer trawlers are designed by Skipsteknisk in Ålesund, Norway and will be of ST-116 and ST-118 design.

Parat Halvorsen AS has again signed a contract with the company American Seafoods Company in Seattle to deliver a new steamboiler, this time to their fabric trawler American Triumph. American Seafoods is well known company for its Alaskan Bearing sea operation, where also the trawler Triumph is normally operating. The vertical steam boiler of Parat Pin Tube MPW type, will have a capacity of 6,000kgs/h and is chosen due to high capacity and small size. PARAT Halvorsen AS has been awarded an order for an 8000 kgs/h Steam Boiler Plant to be installed in the factory trawler, Northern Hawk, which is owned by the United States fishing company, Coastal Villages Pollock, LLC. Northern Hawk is a Stern Trawler, built by the shipyard Ulstein Hatlø in 1990. PARATs delivery is a retrofit of the existing boiler plant, designed to meet the needs of the on-board fishmeal plant and vessel heating system. The new boiler plant will be delivered with the latest technology for burning fish oil.
