Eni Extends BW Offshore's Abo FPSO

Italian oil company Eni has extended its contract for BW Offshore's Abo floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for another year.The FPSO's owner BW Offshore said Thursday it has signed the extension with Eni's subsidiary Nigerian Agip Exploration.Under the extension, the FPSO, used for production from the Abo field offshore Nigeria, will remain on the contract until the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, with options until the second quarter of 2023. Keppel Breaks FPSO Conversion Record

Singapore's offshore facilities builder Keppel has said it has delivered "the world’s fastest brownfield Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) modification and upgrading project."Named FPSO Abigail-Joseph, the vessel was delivered to Malaysia's Yinson Holdings. According to Keppel, it took it seven months to complete the project.Chris Ong, CEO of Keppel O&M said, "This is our 134th floating production vessel, and we are pleased to be able to fast-track the project and upgrade it in under seven months.

FPSO Moored at Catcher Field

Premier Oil’s Catcher project remains on pace to achieve first oil before the end of this year with the arrival and hook up of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel BW Catcher last week in the U.K. North Sea. BW Catcher arrived at the Catcher field on October 18, and the hook up of the Submerged Turret Production (STP) buoy mooring system was completed on October 19 with the vessel completing a rotation test around the buoy on October 20, Premier Oil said. Final pull-in of the risers and umbilicals is underway, and commissioning activities have commenced in parallel.

Bureau Veritas to Class, Certify FPSOs for Saipem

Bureau Veritas has been awarded a contract by Saipem to provide classification and certification services for the two Kaombo FPSOs for service off Angola. The $4 billion project for the FPSOs was awarded to Saipem by Total for the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of two converted turret-moored Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSOs) for the Kaombo Field Development Project, located in Block 32, offshore Angola. Sembawang Shipyard to Convert 2 FPSOs for Kaombo Project, Angola

Sembcorp Marine’s wholly-owned subsidiary Sembawang Shipyard has secured a Floating Storage Production Offloading (FPSO) conversion contract worth about S$600 million from Saipem SA, France for the conversion of Two FPSOs for the Kaombo Project in Offshore Angola. Sembawang Shipyard was awarded this milestone contract on the strength of its capabilities and established track record in the field of FPSO conversion, modification and upgrading work. Under the contract, the Shipyard is responsible for the conversion of 2 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) sister ships into 2 turret-moored FPSOs for the Kaombo project located in offshore Angola, approximately 150 km from the coast.

GMC & Horton Wison Deepwater Confirm Joint Venture

GMC and Horton Wison Deepwater today confirmed their Joint Venture established to design and supply innovative Buoyant Towers for shallow water fields. Kevin Chell CEO of the joint venture stated “The Buoyant Tower concept draws on the proven technology of the cellspar and the design provides multiple benefits for fields where other concepts would be problematic requiring high capital costs and expensive crane barges for installation. The buoyant tower can operate in water depths up to 700 feet and can be relocated allowing small marginal plays to be exploited in a cost effective manner.

Keppel Clinches Petrobras & Saipem Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard) and Keppel Verolme BV (Keppel Verolme), has secured two contracts worth a total of about $165m. The first project, secured by Keppel Shipyard from repeat customer Petrobras Netherlands B.V (PNBV), is for the pre-conversion of P-58, a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Campos Basin. The second project involves the repair and modification of the semisubmersible pipelay vessel, Castoro Sei for Saipem S.p.A (Saipem) by Keppel Verolme.

Keppel to Convert the FDPSO

Keppel Shipyard will convert a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) size tanker into an FDPSO constructed with a moonpool used for drilling purposes. It will have the drilling package modules and derrick integrated into the FDPSO. The provision of the drilling packages will be by Prosafe’s client. Work on the vessel is expected to be completed by late 2008. When completed, the FDPSO will have an oil storage capacity of about 1,300,000 bbls. Its gas compression capacity will be 18 MMscfd and its production capacity will be 40,000 bopd. Prosafe, the wholly owned Singapore unit for Prosafe SE, is a major owner and operator of FPSO and FSO facilities worldwide.

Kvarerner Gets Norsk Hydro Contract

Norsk Hydro has awarded Kvaerner a contract worth $39 million to upgrade gas compression capacity on the Oseberg C platform in the Norwegian North Sea. This assignment covers engineering, procurement and construction of a 650-tonne compressor module with associated hook-up work. It also embraces compressor testing on land and assistance to Hydro during offshore hook-up and commissioning. Engineering work is due to begin immediately at Kvaerner's Lysaker premises outside Oslo. Fabrication will commence this August at the Rosenberg Verft yard in Stavanger. Plans call for the module to be transported to the field in May 2003, with offshore completion scheduled for July of the same year.

GE Gas Turbines for FPSO

GE signed a contract to provide MODEC with three LM2500+G4 aeroderivative gas turbine generators for use on a floating production storage and off-loading (FPSO) vessel in Brazil’s Campos Basin. Using the standardized package configuration of its commercial marine units, GE’s LM2500+G4 gas turbine generators offer substantial weight and space savings as compared to other similar units in the industry. Each of the MODEC units is site rated at 27.8 megawatts and will operate in simple-cycle mode. Natural gas will be the primary fuel with diesel as the backup fuel. Jurong Wins $80M FPSO Conversion From Kellog Brown & Root

SembCorp Marine Ltd. said its wholly-owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. won a project worth about $80 million from U.S.-based Kellog Brown & Root Inc. to convert a crude oil tanker into an oil platform. The project, which involves the conversion of a 270,000 dwt crude carrier to a floating production, storage and offloading platform to be stationed offshore from Brazil. After the project's completion in the third quarter of 2002, the platform will have the capacity to produce 150,000 barrels a day of oil as well as gas compression capacity. Jurong Shipyard is also investing $8.8 million for a 70 percent stake in a Brazilian joint venture for conversion and construction of floating production and drilling units for deep water oil and gas exploration and production.

Stolt Offshore Awarded Dalia FPSO Topsides Contract

Stolt Offshore has been awarded, by TotalFinaElf E&P Angola, a contract, as part of a Joint Venture with Technip-Coflexip and Saipem-SA, for the FPSO topsides on the Dalia field development in Block 17 offshore Angola. The contract, valued in excess of $550 million, is for the topsides modules and their integration to the hull and will be carried out in consortium with Samsung Heavy Industries and the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Company in South Korea. share is 27.5%. In addition the Consortium will be responsible for various items of equipment that are to be assigned by TotalFinaElf, including the management of the contract awarded to Samsung Heavy Industries to build the FPSO hull in South Korea.
