Work has begun to develop Greece’s first Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore, with the conversion of GasLog’s DNV classed LNGC Gaslog Chelsea, recently renamed Alexandroupoli.Following conversion, FSRU Alexandroupoli will serve as an offshore storage and regasification facility and will be part of the Alexandroupolis Independent Natural Gas System (INGS). Bulgartransgaz Takes 20% Stake in Greece's Gastrade
Bulgartransgaz, the operator of the national natural gas transmission network of Bulgaria, has officially taken a 20% share in Greek company Gastrade that is developing an LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) offshore Alexandroupolis. The agreement for Bulgartransgaz to take a 20 percent stake in Gastrade was signed back in August 2020. Following the approval granted by the Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition, the transaction became effective on Thursday, January 28.

Belgium-based natural gas transmission system operator Fluxys and Netherlands-based Titan LNG have joined forces to build the FlexFueler 002, a bunkering pontoon to make liquefied natural gas (LNG) more widely available as shipping fuel in the Antwerp port and region.Shipyard Kooiman, Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, was contracted to build the FlexFueler 002. The pontoon, which is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2020, will measure 76.4 x 11.45 m and is equipped with four vacuum insulated type C cargo tanks of 370 cu. m. each, to carry liquid LNG. The pontoon is not self propelled but for assistance in maneuvering a bow thruster is installed.

The first phase of the Market Test for the capacity commitment at the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal of Alexandroupolis was completed successfully on 31 December.According to an announcement from Gastrade, twenty companies submitted relevant Expression of Interest for a total of up to 12.2 billion cubic meters / year of regasification capacity reservation at the floating terminal and delivery to the Greek National Natural Gas Transmission System."These gas quantities will be directed towards the markets of the wider Southeastern European region. Asian LNG Spot Climbs as Jordan, Pakistan Buy
Asian liquefied natural gas (LNG) spot prices for September delivery were higher on Friday supported by nearby demand from new importers including Jordan and Pakistan, traders said. The price of Asian spot cargoes rose to $8.10 per million British thermal units (mmBtu), from $7.80 the previous week. "(It's) just unexpected demand with very short lead times," said a trader. Jordan is expected to announce results of a tender for two cargoes for delivery in early September on July 29, while Pakistan has held several tenders to buy at short notice. Other activity which supported prices included Argentina's YPF purchasing five LNG cargoes on behalf of state-run energy firm Enarsa following its recent tender, to be supplied by Statoil, Trafigura and BP.
Croatia Seeks Investors to Develop Adriatic LNG Terminal
Croatia's power utility HEP and gas transmission system operator Plinacro on Tuesday invited investors to express interest in building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the northern Adriatic, part of the country's drive for energy independence. The terminal on the island of Krk is also part of Europe's wider efforts to reduce its reliance on Russian energy supplies and has gained new importance following the cancellation of the South Stream project. It is aimed at receiving, storing and re-gasifying LNG, with a nominal capacity of 6 billion cubic metres. HEP and Plinacro, in a joint venture named LNG Croatia, said potential investors should submit their letters of interest for joining the project as soon as possible.
Gazprom And Verbundnetz Gas To Stabilize European Supply
Alexey Miller Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee stated, "In cooperation with Verbundnetz Gas we will increase the stability of gas supply to our European consumers in the autumn-winter period." He made the statement at St. Petersburg, which today hosted a meeting between Alexey Miller and Karsten Heuchert, Chairman of the Verbundnetz Gas (VNG) Executive Board. The two parties highly appreciated the current state of the partnership relations between the companies and addressed the cooperation development issues. “Our contract signed over 40 years ago provided the basis for developing new enormous fields in Russia, creating the largest gas transmission system in the world as well as a transportation and distribution system in Germany," Miller said.
Power of Siberia construction launched
Yakutsk hosted today celebrations dedicated to welding the first joint of the Power of Siberia gas transmission system (GTS) meant to be a crucial element of the gas supply system being built in eastern Russia. The GTS will convey gas from the Yakutia and Irkutsk gas production centers to the Far East and China. RINA Group Wins Greek LNG Terminal Expansion Contract
The international verification and engineering RINA Group will carry out Basic Engineering Design, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Safety and other studies for the expansion of Greece’s only LNG terminal, at Revithoussa. The four month project was awarded to RINA by DESFA (Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator S.A.). The expansion of the LNG Revithoussa Terminal Cryogenic Facilities will boost the maximum sustainable gas send-out rate to 1400 Nm3/h (with a peak send-out rate of 1650 Nm3/h). The existing terminal consists of an import jetty, two full containment storage tanks, plus one under construction, re-gasification equipment and send-out facilities.
