Australian oil and gas company Woodside Energy said Monday it had delivered an LNG cargo to Europe on board the Woodside Rees Withers LNG carrier from Australia’s North West Shelf. The cargo of approximately 75,000 tonnes of LNG (100 million cubic meters of natural gas) was delivered on November 27, 2022, to Uniper Global Commodities SE (Uniper) at the Gate Terminal located on Maasvlakte in Rotterdam, the Netherladns. Global leader in offshore wind Ørsted A/S has signed an agreement to divest its liquefied natural gas (LNG) business to the leading global natural resources company Glencore.According to the Denmark's largest energy company, Ørsted entered into a long-term agreement with the Dutch LNG regasification terminal Gate in Rotterdam regarding the right to use 3 billion cubic meters of annual regasification capacity from 2011 to 2031, in December 2007.Today, Ørsted’s LNG business consists of the long-term regasification capacity agreement with the Gate terminal in Rotterdam and five LNG purchase agreements.Even though Ørsted’s LNG team has performed well during the last few years, the business has been loss-making and is projected to remain so for years to come.

The Port of Rotterdam on Wednesday said it expects sales of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a bunker fuel to increase in the coming years as ships are forced to switch to cleaner sources of energy.Europe's largest sea port expects throughput of LNG as a bunker fuel to increase to around 30,000 tonnes this year, up from 9,500 tonnes in 2018, director Maud Eijgendaal told reporters."If we keep up this growth we can reach a million tonnes by 2025-2030, which would be around 10% of all bunker fuels sold in Rotterdam"…

Shell said that Europe’s first inland-waterway LNG bunker vessel has carried out its first bunkering operations, providing fuel for the Containerships Polar and Containerships Nord vessels in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.The LNG London (which is owned by LNG Shipping – a cooperation between Victrol and Sogestran) is on long-term charter to Shell. The advent of industry wide tightening of allowable sulfur emissions is getting nearer. Suddenly, with the deadline now little more than one year away, the countdown clock will very soon be ticking much louder. Simply stated, the cap on allowable sulfur content in marine fuels, presently at 3.5 percent in many geographical regions, will be reduced to 0.5 percent in January 2020. State-run Qatargas on Wednesday agreed a sale and purchase deal with Austrian oil and gas group OMV to deliver up to 1.1 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually for five years. From January 2019, the gas will be provided by Qatar Liquefied Gas Co, a venture between Qatar Petroleum and Shell . It will be delivered to the Gate LNG Terminal in the Netherlands on board Qatargas’ chartered LNG vessels. Facing threats to its market share in Europe from a wave of new U.S. supply and in Asia from new Australian plants, Qatar has sealed similar deals with Uniper, RWE Supply and Trading, Centrica and Petronas UK to secure access to northwest European import terminals.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is increasingly being used as an alternative fuel, both at sea and on land, to reduce pollution from transportation. In 2011 the first LNG carrier arrived at the Rotterdam Gate terminal, and last year the terminal was upgraded to facilitate the transfer of LNG to shuttle tankers. An extensive safety analysis was carried out prior to the development of the terminal and a dedicated harbor access policy has been defined.

The Netherlands will receive its second-ever liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment from Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass export facility in the United States on Oct. 6, according to shipping data.   The vessel, with a capacity of 166,031 cubic metres, is currently berthed at Sabine Pass, live ship-tracking data shows.   The first delivery from Sabine Pass to the Gate terminal in Rotterdam arrived on June 8 aboard the Arctic Discoverer, a Thomson Reuters analyst said.   Reporting by Oleg Vukmanovic

The Hague-based LNG giant Shell has announced two significant milestones for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) marine fuels business in northwest Europe. Shell's ultra modern bunkership Cardissa Western LNG BV Trading Rotterdam BV (Shell) has arrived in Rotterdam. This seaworthy ship enables Shell to supply customers across Europe with liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Gas Access to Europe (Gate) terminal in Rotterdam. The Cardissa can transport 6,500 m3 of LNG. Shell also finalised a long-term agreement with a joint venture between Victrol NV and CFT to charter a LNG bunker barge with a capacity to carry 3,000 cubic metres of LNG fuel.

Shell loads first LNG vessel, using new LNG fuel infrastructure at Gate terminal. The new LNG fuel infrastructure included the construction of a new berth. This new berth has now started operations. The loading of Shell’s chartered LNG vessel, the Coral Methane happened on September 19th. In July 2014, Shell took the Final Investment Decision to buy capacity at the Gas Access to Europe (Gate) terminal, which enabled the investment in new, dedicated liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel infrastructure. The new LNG fuel infrastructure included the construction of a new berth.

EXMAR and Vopak announce that discussions are currently taking place to explore the possibility of an acquisition of EXMAR’s share in its floating LNG storage and regasification business (FRSU’s) by Vopak. As the outcome of these discussions between EXMAR and Vopak is currently unknown, no further details are disclosed. Material updates will be communicated via press releases. Vopak has earmarked storage and handling of LNG/gas as one of its strategic focus areas. Therefore Vopak is looking for strategic opportunities to strengthen its presence as a service provider in the LNG infrastructure market. Today, Vopak jointly owns and operates two land-based storage and regasification terminals, the GATE terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, and the TLA terminal in Altamira, Mexico.

Gate terminal and its shareholders Gasunie and Vopak are proud to announce that the LNG terminal at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam has been expanded to include a third berth and special infrastructure for the loading of small LNG vessels. In conjunction with LNG bunker vessels, the new berth will in future also make it easier for ocean-going vessels to fill up with LNG in Rotterdam. As with other kinds of maritime fuel LNG can be pumped on board large ocean-going vessels using bunker vessels. These can now be loaded at Gate terminal which receives LNG from large LNG tankers arriving from several global origins. The use of LNG as a maritime fuel is being encouraged by the European Union, the Dutch government and the Port of Rotterdam because of its more environmentally-friendly properties.

Shell Trading Rotterdam BV (Shell) has signed a time-charter agreement with Plouvier Transport NV and Intertrans Tankschiffahrt AG for 15 new inland dual-fuel barges, which will predominantly run on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Qatargas is looking to Britain and the Netherlands in an effort to weather a looming global glut of gas supplies by expanding import deals into Europe's most liquid markets, industry sources said. The world's biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) must lock in buyers for its unsold supply just as new Australian and U.S. producers muscle into its prized Asian markets. Slowing demand globally is only adding to producer woes, thrusting Europe's gas markets and dozens of under-used import terminals into the spotlight. Qatargas has held talks with Petronas UK Ltd to gain greater access to the Dragon import terminal in Wales, as well as with Uniper, formerly known as E.ON Global Commodities, for the Gate terminal in Rotterdam, two sources said.

Two liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes are to be exported from the Gate terminal in the Netherlands at the end of the month, trade sources with knowledge of the matter said. German utility RWE has purchased one of the cargoes while Austrian-based Econgas has set up the other, the sources said. Austria-based Econgas owns long-term capacity at the terminal. Gate, built to import LNG, can also reload cargoes held in storage for export to higher-paying markets. Between one and two loading slots are currently being offered for August and September each, sources said. Reloadings at north-west European LNG terminals, such as Gate, Belgium's Zeebrugge or Britain's Isle of Grain, can affect supply balances and influence gas prices on traded hubs.
