EGPC Leads Oil, Gas Discoveries in Q3 2019

Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) led globally among companies in the third quarter (Q3) 2019 in terms of the highest number of oil and gas discoveries, said GlobalData.Of the total 38 discoveries made worldwide, EGPC had four, all being onshore discoveries. Siemens Gamesa Wins 250MW Gig in Egypt

Sapura Bags Five Contracts

Malaysian integrated oil and gas services company Sapura Energy Berhad has been awarded five new contracts valued at approximately RM1.3 billion ($US311 million).All five contracts have been awarded to the Sapura’s wholly owned subsidiaries, with works to take place in Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and the Gulf of Suez."The contract wins demonstrate Sapura Energy’s continued pursuit to deepen its presence in existing core markets, break into new markets and expand its scope of services," said a press release.The growing orderbook is expected to increase asset utilisation for the Group and contribute to improving its financial performance.

China Constructs New Terminal in Suez Canal

Energean Israel Awards Contract to Stena Drilling

Energean Oil & Gas announced that Energean Israel has signed a contract with Stena Drilling for the development drilling of the Karish Field, offshore Israel. Pursuant to the contract, Stena Drilling will deploy the Stena Forth drillship (or such substitute as may be agreed by the parties) to drill three development wells in Q1 2019 (with provision made for further options), subject to Energean’s Final Investment Decision (FID) regarding the Karish and Tanin gas fields. The Stena Forth, one of the DrillMAX Fleet vessels, is a DP Class 3 ultra-deep water drillship with a track record in world-wide operations, ranging from the Mediterranean (Libya), Egypt (Gulf of Suez), Malaysia, Greenland and the US (Gulf of Mexico).

IMO Adopts Gas and Low-flashpoint Fuels Code

The new mandatory code for ships fuelled by gases or other low-flashpoint fuels was adopted by IMO's Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), when it met at the Organization's London headquarters for its 95th session from June 3-12, 2015. The Committee also placed unsafe mixed migration by sea on its agenda and considered cyber security matters and passenger ship safety. It adopted new ships’ routing measures and approved a number of circulars arising from items put forward by the subcommittees.

Captain, Officer of Containership Detained after Deadly Collision

The captain and first officer of a Kuwaiti container ship have been detained for four days after their ship collided with a fishing vessel in the Red Sea, killing 13 Egyptians, a public prosecutor said on Tuesday. The prosecutor said on Monday that initial enquiries showed the fishing boat had capsized following the collision with the Kuwaiti ship, which had just passed through the Suez Canal on its way south. The prosecutor is also questioning the rest of the container ship's crew about the collision, which occurred near Ras Ghareb about halfway down the Gulf of Suez. Egypt is currently expanding the Suez Canal to allow larger ships to pass through it at the same time.

RWE Dea Awarded Two New Concessions in Egypt

In the International Bid Round 2013, RWE Dea has been awarded two new offshore concessions with operatorship by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). The concessions are located in the Gulf of Suez, where the company is producing oil as operator for more than 30 years. Dea will become operator of two new concessions in the Gulf of Suez. Dea will hold a share of 100% of the East Ras Fanar Offshore and 50% of the Northwest El Amal concession, with Edison International SpA holding the remaining 50%. “We are very pleased with the result of the latest Bid Round, as both new concessions provide a valuable addition to our balanced oil and gas license portfolio in Egypt,” says Maximilian Fellner, General Manager RWE Dea Egypt.

RWE Dea Starts Gas Production in Egypt

RWE Dea achieved first production from the Central Treatment Plant (CTP) of the Disouq Development Project in Egypt. Production commenced at an initial rate of 45 million standard cubic feet gas per day. Total production of 150 million standard cubic feet gas per day from the Disouq project has been achieved already. RWE Dea’s oil and gas production in Egypt will be boosted by 50 percent. Further increase in production is expected in 2015. Production from the CTP commenced at an initial rate of 45 million standard cubic feet gas per day. RWE Dea ramped up production progressively during the last few days to reach a rate of around 90 million standard cubic feet gas per day.

Lockheed Martine to Provide Waterway Safety System for 2004 Olympics

Lockheed Martin will provide an extension to the Greek National Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) under a $1 million sub-contract from the Hellenic Telecommunications & Electronics industry, INTRACOM. The extension will support the country’s port security infrastructure for the 2004 Olympic Games. The Games are expected to bring 16,000 athletes and more than four million spectators to Greece. Numerous spectators are expected to move daily through the ferry ports of Rafina and Lavrio, located on the east coast of the Greek peninsula, which will be equipped with new regional Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) monitoring centers. Lockheed Martin will provide two radar systems to help monitor the waterway during the Olympic Games.

Lockheed Martin Awarded Contract

Lockheed Martin will provide the Arab Republic of Egypt with a fully integrated maritime search and rescue (SAR) system for the Gulf of Suez (GOS) under a $50 million contract signed today in Cairo. The SAR system will complement the Gulf of Suez Vessel Traffic Information Management System (VTIMS) provided by Lockheed Martin under a 1998 contract and provide the Egyptian Ministry of Transport with all the necessary capabilities to manage and respond to any maritime distress in the Gulf of Suez. Halter Marine Will Build Tugs for Lockheed Martin

Halter Marine, Inc (HMI), a division of Friede Goldman Halter, Inc. (FGHLQ) announced that it has received a Letter of Intent from Lockheed Martin Overseas Corporation to design, and build two Voith Schneider Tractor Tugs. SeaArk Delivers Patrol/SAR Vessels
