Chemical Vessel Ops target of Odfjell, Nissen Kaiun JV
Odfjell SE and Japan’s Nissen Kaiun Co., Ltd. have formed a new Bergen-based joint venture, Odfjell Hakata Maritime AS, marking a significant expansion of their long-standing partnership and adding substantial capacity to the global chemical tanker market.The JV will launch with a fleet of 10 stainless-steel chemical tankers, equally contributed by the two companies. Nine of the vessels are already operating under Odfjell Tankers via existing charter agreements, while the tenth is set to join the fleet in early December.
Odfjell Announces “Resilient” Financial Result
Odfjell SE has reported its results for the first quarter of 2025, showing a resilient financial result despite the increased market uncertainty due to the initial U.S. trade tariffs announcement.The Odfjell Group is one of the leading players in the global market for seaborne transportation and storage of chemicals and other specialty bulk liquids.Time charter earnings ended at $168 million, compared to $183 million in 4Q24. TCE/day for the quarter was $29,556, down 4% compared to $30,744 in 4Q24.EBIT was $54 million compared to $68 million in 4Q24.The quarterly net result was $34 million.

Norwegian tanker company Odfjell has reported its results for the preliminary full-year and fourth quarter of 2024 indicating a record strong year.The company has continued to perform well in the final quarter of the year despite a slightly softer market. Odfjell Announces Deals to Add Six Newbuilds
Norwegian shipping company Odfjell SE announced it is expanding its fleet with six newbuildings through a combination of long-term time charter and pool agreements with Japanese shipowners and shipyards.This increases the total to twelve 25,000 - 40,000 dwt stainless steel vessels to be delivered on long-term time charters and pool agreements between 2024 and 2027.The series of newbuildings will be built at multiple shipyards in Japan and are scheduled to be delivered from 1H2026 to 1H2027.

Odfjell Promotes First Female Captain
Odfjell announced it has promoted its first female captain in the history of the 109-year-old company. Odfjell SE Names New CEO
Norwegian shipping firm Odfjell SE has appointed Harald Fotland as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Fotland comes from the position as Odfjell's Chief Operating Officer, and will assume the CEO position on May 6, 2022."We are pleased to have an internal candidate take over the helm at Odfjell. Fotland Named COO at Odfjell
Odfjell SE has appointed Harald Fotland as chief operations officer (COO), effective January 5, 2018. The Norwegian tanker shipping firm said it is introducing a COO function to ensure full integration between ship management and commercial operations. “With the new structure, Odfjell Tankers will have common and aligned goals across all functions relating to chemical tankers,” the company said. Fotland joined Odfjell as chief of staff in 2010, and in 2015 was appointed senior vice president of Odfjell Tankers.
Odfjell SVP Olsen Steps Down
Norway based shipping and tank terminal company Odfjell SE said its Senior Vice President Helge Olsen will step down from his role as Head of Ship Management, effective January 9, 2017. Olsen, who has been with the company since 2000, holds no Odfjell shares or options. Harald Fotland, SVP Odfjell Tankers, has been appointed to temporarily cover the position as SVP Ship Management until Olsen’s successor is in place.
New Head for Odfjell Tankers
Odfjell announced it has appointed Senior Vice President Harald Fotland to new Head of Odfjell Tankers. Fotland comes from the position as SVP/Chief of Staff and has for the past 18 months also been responsible for the cost-cutting and efficiency program in Odfjell. He succeeeds the shipper's previous head of tankers, Morten Nystad, who stepped down from his position in July. The company also appointed Vice President Arild Viste to Global Head of Tanker Trading in Odfjell Tankers. Viste comes from the position as Vice President for Commercial Development.
