VTAS All Set to Go

The Vessel Technology Assessment System Project (VTAS Project) has finished its development stage and is set to go live.The UK-based design, engineering and risk management consultancy firm BMT, in collaboration with Black & Veatch, created VTAS for the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) in the UK. Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) is the advisor of the project.The VTAS Project ran from 1 January 2018 to 31 March 2019 and brought together the combined maritime and engineering consultancy expertise of BMT and Black & Veatch to inform the commercial maritime industry of the benefits of investing in and promoting fuel efficient technologies.The £1.8m initiative was funded by the ETI…

BMT Isis Renamed BMT Cadence

BMT Isis, a subsidiary of international design, engineering and risk management consultancy BMT Group, has announced a name change effective immediately; the company will now take the name BMT Cadence. “Given recent global events, we recognize the sensitivities around any organization using the name Isis and we hope that the name change will serve as clear affirmation of BMT’s support to our clients operating within U.K. and global defense markets and the front-line forces that we collectively serve,”   explained Mike Prince, Managing Director of BMT Cadence.

BMT Wins Contract with US Navy Environmental Program

BMT Designers & Planners, Inc. (BMT), an operating company of BMT Group Ltd, an international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, announced it has won a three-year contract to support the U.S. Navy’s environmental and conservation programs. The contract was awarded by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Indian Head Division to provide technical and analytical support for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Laboratory Quality and Accreditation Office (LQAO) and affiliated agencies. Over a three-year period, the contract has a ceiling of about $5,700,000. BMT expects to work on 40-50 projects over the course of the new contract. This contract will cover management and technical support tasks in matters concerning the US Navy environmental and conservation programs.

Simulating Marine Collisions for a Safer Future

Collisions at sea have always been a major risk for seafarers and while the exact numbers of incidents that take place across the globe each year are hard to quantify, the number is significant. New Simulation Tool for Collision Reconstruction

The app is now available as a free download for both Android and iOS users in the App Store (iOS) and Play Store (Android). Aker Solutions acquired UK specialist engineering company International Design Engineering And Services Ltd (I.D.E.A.S) to boost its asset integrity management services. Glasgow, Scotland-based I.D.E.A.S. has developed software and technology that is designed to improve the quality and accuracy of integrity and life time analysis for oil and gas assets. SuSy Ship-Stability Project Completes Sea Trials

The pan-European SuSy (Surfacing System for Ship Recovery) consortium has recently completed a set of sea trials at Chalkis shipyard in Greece. Led by BMT Group Ltd, the international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, the SuSy project has developed a rescue system to be used for merchant ships in emergency situations. Application scenarios include preventive installation on ships with hazardous cargo, rapid stabilization of capsized ships by coast guard and other rescue squads and recovery of sunken ships, as well as many other applications in this field.

BMT: Annual Report Shows Solid Performance

A resilient performance As competition intensifed and demand weakened, BMT faced diffcult market conditions across most areas of the business during the reporting period. Given these circumstances the group performed well, with revenues from continuing businesses rising 8% to £127m and underlying operating profts unchanged at £6.5m. Wilton Engineering Secures North Sea Project With Subsea 7

Wilton Engineering will fabricate large caisson clamps for Subsea 7.

Wilton Engineering Services (WESL) Limited – the international design, engineering and fabrication business – has secured a multi-million pound contract with Subsea 7. Wilton Engineering, a Wilton Group company, will construct support clamps for work on DONG Energy’s SIRI Caisson Support Project in the Danish sector of the North Sea. Subsea 7 announced last year that it had won an offshore engineering and construction frame agreement with DONG Energy in support of the project.
