Xeneta Appoints Finbow, Irvine to Exec Team

Xeneta, a leader in ocean and air freight rate benchmarking, market analytics platform and container shipping index, announced the appointment of two new sales executives. Scott Irvine joins Xeneta as VP of Freight Forwarding and Laura Finbow will serve as Director of Sales Enablement. Scott Irvine has worked in the logistics industry for over two decades holding senior leadership roles across both shippers and freight forwarders. Most recently Scott was the VP of Air & Ocean for Zencargo, a leading digital freight forwarder.

CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd Introduce ReUse in Mexico with Avantida

Avantida, an INTTRA company, announced that CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd, two of the world’s largest liner shipping companies, are offering reUse container management services in Mexico. reUse is a container triangulation service for transporters made available on Avantida’s online platform. It is the first time that this service is offered in Mexico, and for Avantida it is their first step into the North American market.This is how reUse works: once an import container has been unloaded it must be taken back to the port or assigned depot. With reUse, transport companies can request the liner shipping company to use that same container and bring it straight to their export customer to get loaded.

INTTRA Adds Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines to its Carrier Network

INTTRA, the largest neutral network, software and information provider at the center of the ocean shipping industry, announced an expansion of its rapidly growing carrier network with the addition of Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL), its first carrier in Indonesia. The addition of SPIL represents a trend by regional carriers who are joining INTTRA to gain a competitive advantage in their service regions. SPIL provides services to all Indonesian routes, with 32 offices strategically located across the Indonesian archipelago. INTTRA, NAMSUNG Expand

INTTRA, a neutral electronic transaction platform, software and information provider at the center of the ocean shipping industry, announced an expansion of its rapidly growing carrier network with the addition of Korea's Namsung Shipping Co. Ltd. NAMSUNG, established in 1953 as the first private ocean going shipping carrier in Korea, provides services throughout Asia, with routes targeting Korea to Japan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and intra-Asia routes. NAMSUNG will offer its customers a full suite of services through INTTRA's network, including shipping instructions, booking requests, shipping orders for North China, Track and Trace, eVGM and Ocean Schedules.

Maersk Booking System Back In Action after Cyber Attack

Maersk Line, one of the world's largest container shipping companies, said on Wednesday its cargo booking system was back up and running after a global cyber attack crippled its IT networks a day earlier. "Further to earlier communications, we are now able to accept bookings via INTTRA," the company said on Twitter. Earlier, Maersk said it was using alternative channels to take orders manually and to communicate with customers until it could resolve its IT problems.

School of Shipping, INTTRA Team up to Enhance Students' Readiness

South Africa-based School of Shipping, which offers adults an education in maritime studies specifically relating to importing and exporting, and INTTRA, the world's ocean shipping electronic marketplace, announced a collaboration through which School of Shipping students will make use of INTTRA's training environment as part of their coursework. Students will be able to simulate shipment management for the ocean stages of container transport. That process includes planning container bookings through Ocean Schedules (INTTRA's search tool to identify sailings), executing bookings, submitting shipping instructions and container weight information for SOLAS VGM compliance, tracking containers and a range of other functions.

HMM Adopts INTTRA's eVGM Solution

Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has expanded its longstanding relationship with INTTRA, the world's ocean shipping electronic marketplace, by adopting the INTTRA eVGM Service as a channel to facilitate compliance with the International Maritime Organization's Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Verified Gross Mass (VGM) amendment. Under the new rule, which went into effect on July 1, 2016, every container must have a VGM - or certified weight -- in order to gain clearance to be loaded onto a ship. "Many of HMM's customers are already using INTTRA eVGM. By joining the eVGM network, HMM will provide those customers and additional shippers on the network with simplicity and efficiency in submitting VGM information, facilitating even better customer service," said Jim Whalen, INTTRA's President, Asia.

NYK Selects INTTRA eVGM Service

INTTRA, the world's ocean shipping electronic marketplace, and NYK Line, informed that NYK has joined the rapidly growing INTTRA eVGM network for facilitating compliance with new container weight requirements adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which went into effect on July 1, 2016. Zim to Adopt INTTRA eVGM Service

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, one of the world's leading container shipping carriers, and INTTRA, the world's ocean shipping electronic marketplace, stated that ZIM's implementation of the INTTRA eVGM Service, which will facilitate compliance by ZIM and its customers with the International Maritime Organization's Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Verified Gross Mass (VGM) amendment. MSC Launches 'myMSC'

MSC has recently launched a new customer portal called ‘myMSC’ which allows you to submit your VGM instructions online and much more. The launch of this portal has been advanced in anticipation of the new SOLAS regulation which comes into effect on the 1st July 2016. MSC will roll out additional functionality over the course of 2016. The portal will offer complete online management of your cargo including; rate requests, bookings, shipping instructions, manifest correctors, notice of arrivals, financial records, schedules, cut-off information, rates of exchange and VGM submission. With implementation of a new global container weight requirement less than a month away, global carrier United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has extended its partnership with ocean shipping electronic marketplace INTTRA, to use the INTTRA eVGM Service as a channel to facilitate compliance with the new rule. As of July 1, under the International Maritime Organization's Safety of Life at Sea Verified Gross Mass amendment (SOLAS VGM) as adopted, every container must have a certified weight in order to gain clearance to be loaded onto a ship.

CMA CGM Rolls Out SOLAS Electronic Submission Platform

"In order to ensure complete visibility and a seamless transition when adapting to the new SOLAS regulation, we have created a dedicated page on our website to guide you through the new Verified Gross Mass (VGM) regulation," says a statement from CMA CGM. What if Shippers Miss Weight Rule Deadline?

It seems increasingly unlikely that all shippers will be ready to meet their new verified gross mass obligation in July. What impact will this have on supply chains? Drewry has previously alerted exporters and importers of the lack of progress and the many uncertainties left before they are ready to comply with the mandatory regulation of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) on container weights, which becomes effective in July 2016. Three months on, we are seeing some progress, but equally it is becoming clear that not all shippers will be ready to comply with the new IMO rule. A poll of 410 customers of booking portal Inttra in October 2015 found that 66% expected “a moderate or major disruption in the industry”.

Containers' VGM Mandatory on Hapag-Lloyd

Hapag-Lloyd has informed as from July 1, 2016, the new SOLAS regulation will become effective; therefore the packed containers’ VGM will be mandatory for all the units to be loaded onboard their vessels. The new regulation entails a change in existing procedures for all stakeholders involved across the shipping industry. Safety concerns have always taken a high priority at Hapag-Lloyd – accordingly it is our responsibility to reduce risks to human life and damages to the cargo and environment due to inaccurately declared weights. Therefore, a packed container for which a verified weight has not been obtained in time, will not be loaded on board our vessels.

MSC, INTTRA Address Container Weight Rules

Container shipping company MSC and ocean shipping electronic marketplace INTTRA have entered a new partnership aiming to introduce a customer-friendly solution to new container weight safety regulations. Under the agreement, MSC will use INTTRA's eVGM software as a channel for receiving verified gross mass (VGM) submissions from shippers. As of July 1, under the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) GM amendment, no container will be cleared to be loaded onto a ship until the shipper or its designee provides a verified weight to the carrier.

INTTRA & Craft Group Sign Stategic Agreement

Hamburg Süd to Adopt INTTRA eVGM Service

Hamburg Süd, one of the 10 largest shipping lines worldwide, and INTTRA, the world's ocean shipping electronic marketplace, have expanded their partnership to address the July 1 implementation of the International Maritime Organization's Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Verified Gross Mass (VGM) amendment. The INTTRA eVGM Service will be a channel for Hamburg Süd to receive VGM submissions from shippers to meet the requirement that all containers must have verified weights before being loaded onto a ship. Hamburg Süd was a founding member of INTTRA's eVGM Initiative.
