Navico Names Rae Manager for Canada

Marine electronics manufacturer Navico has appointed Steve Rae to the position of Country Manager for Canada.Based in Vancouver Island, B.C., Rae will be responsible for sales, service and support for the company’s three marine electronics brands, Lowrance, Simrad and B&G. New Permanent Mount LED Deck Light

Industrial lighting specialist Larson Electronics announced the release of a 30 watt LED deck light equipped with a 360° spindle that allows for complete rotation while being permanently mounted. The DL-APB-LED-30W permanent mount LED deck light from Larson Electronics provides operators with a high powered lighting solution in applications where a low voltage light is preferred. The 30 watt PAR46 LED light emitter in this unit is highly resistant to damage from shocks and vibration as well as up to 80 percent more efficient than incandescent lights.

New Explosion Proof LED Light Fixture

Industrial lighting company Larson Electronics has released a 70 watt explosion proof LED light fixture mounted on an adjustable beam clamp to simplify mounting on existing beams. The new EPL-LP-70W-LED-HDBC-20-EPP beam clamp mounted LED fixture is weatherproof and comes with an adjustable aluminum mount that makes it suitable for industrial applications, maintenance, cleaning and servicing duties, as well as large hazardous work areas. This unit contains a 70 watt LED lamp that produces 6,000 lumens of light capable of illuminating an area of 5,000 square feet.

New Series of Portable Solar Power Battery Packs

Larson Electronics, a manufacturer and supplier of industrial grade lighting solutions, said it has released a new series of portable battery packs powered with lithium-ion batteries that offer multiple charging capabilities. These battery packs are powered by lithium ion batteries with a Samsung ICR18650-3.7V-2600mAh cell. These units are designed for off-grid use in remote locations with solar panel compatibility (Escape 30, Boulder 15, Nomad 27, and Nomad 13). These solar units are available in a 300 watt rated output, a 2,000 watt rated output, and a 500 watt rated output.

Magnalights Issues New LED Light Emitter

Chairman Steven R. Blust announced the appointment of Amy W. Larson as the General Counsel of the Federal Maritime Commission effective January 11, 2004. Mrs. Larson is currently an attorney in the agency's Office of the General Counsel. Patrol Ships, Naval Academy Conduct Boarding Training

A Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) Sailor assigned to coastal patrol ship USS Hurricane (PC 3) conducts an initial security sweep aboard Yard Patrol Craft 681 (YP 681) while his shipmates board the vessel. YP 681 acted as a non-compliant vessel as part of Hurricane's Advanced Phase Training Exercise, designed to prepare the crew for upcoming deployments. U.S. Sailors and assets from the U.S. Naval Academy provided a unique training opportunity Jan. 10 and 17 for the crews of USS Thunderbolt (PC 12) and USS Hurricane (PC 3) in the Chesapeake Bay. L&T to Invest in Shipbuilding Venture

Larson and Turbo (L&T) will invest in a new greenfield shipbuilding venture, reports Business Line. The company is considering sites at the coastline of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat for erecting the shipbuilding unit. L&T has a shipbuilding yard at Hazira, in Gujarat, but due to the little scope for expansion, the company is looking for other locations. It requires about 1,000 acres along the coastline.
