Bourbon Inks Partnership Deal with Integrated Wind Solution

Bourbon entered into a strategic partnership with IWS Fleet AS, the vessel owning company of Integrated Wind Solutions ASA  to address the French commissioning and maintenance market of offshore wind farms. This agreement will allow Bourbon to market and operate the IWS’s “Skywalker class” windfarm specialized support walk-to-work vessels in France. The ship management will be performed by the French affiliate Bourbon Offshore Surf, with a strong footprint on French Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, as the group currently employs about 500 French seafarers with relevant offshore experience.IWS currently has four vessels under construction, the two first IWS vessels will be delivered in Q2/Q3 2023 and the remaining two in the first half of 2024.

Port of Dover Prepared for Brexit: Drewry

Alternative capacity could be provided by short-sea container services between the UK and EU to alleviate possible congestion at the Port of Dover post-Brexit.The Port of Dover is the cross-channel port situated in Dover, Kent, south-east England. Hazira Port Breaches 500K TEU Mark

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer today said that it had breached the 0.5 Million TEU mark at Hazira Port in FY 2017-18, with year-end throughout touching 500,879 TEUs, corresponding to a remarkable growth rate of 20.7% over 2016-17. With an annual capacity of 1 million TEUs, 2 berths of combined length of 630 metres and quay-side infrastructure comprising 6 QC’s and 16RTG’s, the all-weather port with a deep draft has been able to attract main line services from the world’s largest container shipping companies. Maersk Line New Services at Kakinada Port

Maersk Line India announced the introduction of Export and Import service offerings at Kakinada port in Andhra Pradesh. This End to End service (Store Door) will enable customers in the region to reach global touch points. With this first time offering in Kakinada, Maersk Line will be able to containerize cargo at its origin, cut out wastage and complexities of dealing with multiple vendors and help move it to port in a cost-effective manner. This will have a direct bearing on rice farmers and growers in the region that would benefit from the ease that it brings and makes customers compete successfully in key rice export markets like Europe, Mediterranean, Middle East and the United States.

Maersk Krishnapatnam Service from April 17th

Maersk starts its Krishnapatnam Service from April 17th and Kattupalli on April 19th, 2016. Both these calls are strategic and are aimed at supporting the growth of local businesses in the hinterland covering Andhra Pradesh, Northern Tamil Nadu and Eastern Karnataka. Maersk to Call at Kakinada

Maersk Line becomes the first liner to operate from Kakinada port which offers customers global coverage. Maersk Line India has added a new port of call into Kakinada connecting Colombo and onwards connectivity to West Africa and South Africa. Maersk line will  serve Kakinada through its Mesawa service, which is a direct weekly service from Jebel Ali, Mundra and Nhava Sheva to South and West Africa. Commenting on this development, Mr. Franck Dedenis, Managing Director, Maersk (India and Sri Lanka) said, “We are excited to announce the addition of Kakinada in the list of our port of call with a fixed vessel schedule. DP World to Build Third London Gateway Container Berth

DP World London Gateway plans to move forward with a third berth at the UK’s new deep-sea hub port, which will increase deep-sea access for ships carrying UK imports and exports. Berth Three will enable the use of an additional 400 meters of quay length with a dredged depth of 17 meters alongside, to handle the largest containerships. New birth will become operational in late 2016. It has also developed technology to ensure the port remains open in bad weather. The location of the DP World London Gateway Port, which has 16 million consumers within 50 miles, enables imports to enter the UK closer to where the goods will be consumed. Evergreen Enhances UK and Ireland Services

Global container carrier Evergreen Line announced enhancements to its services to/from Dublin (Ireland) and Liverpool (Northwest England). From its hub in Rotterdam, the line will offer a twice-weekly service to Dublin and dedicated slots on a weekly basis to Liverpool. The move is designed to more effectively integrate the line's services to/from the North of England and Ireland with its extensive global network, the company said. Evergreen will run its own independent service on a weekly shuttle basis between Rotterdam and Dublin and will also commence a slot exchange arrangement with common carrier X-PRESS feeders on its weekly Dublin service from Rotterdam.

Maersk's New Americas Company, SeaLand, to Commence in 2015

Ocean transportation company Maersk Line, a unit of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, announced today the formation of a regional, containerized shipping company – SeaLand - dedicated to the intra-Americas market. The new affiliate will have a structure similar to Maersk's other regional carriers such as intra-Asia carrier MCC Transport and intra-Europe carrier Seago Line. SeaLand will feature knowledgeable, local sales and support personnel positioned in North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean, to meet the unique needs of customers throughout the region.

New Liner Services Between Hamburg, Russia

Starting in November 2011, two new feeder line services will be scheduled for regular sailings between the Port of Hamburg and Russia. The shipping company Team Lines will be using the RUS 2 Service in the Hamburg – St. Petersburg – Hamburg – Bremerhaven – Hamburg rotation to augment its RUS 1 service handled by its own vessels with capacities of OOCL for containerised shipping to this key market region. The first ship will be sailing from Hamburg on 7 November. The Swan Container Line has also included Hamburg in its weekly schedule for its St. Petersburg service. On the Hamburg – St. Petersburg – Rotterdam – Hamburg rotation, two 900 TEU container vessels link Germany’s largest seaport with Russia.

Foss Recieves Safety Award on West Coast

A major maritime employer group has recognized the outstanding safety record of the Foss Maritime workers who tie up and release ships at Puget Sound ports. The Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) - whose members include key Foss customers - honored the company's ongoing commitment to safety and accident prevention with four awards. Foremost was the recognition of Foss Line Service for reducing its annual injury rate more than any of its Washington state-based competitors. Foss line-handlers recorded no time lost for injuries in 2010. Gary Faber, President and COO of Foss Maritime, lauded Foss Line Service's achievement:  "Our customers expect this, which is why we appreciate the recognition coming from the Pacific Maritime Association.

LD Lines Newbuild with Turnkey Works

Almaco was contracted to deliver a complete turnkey project for cabins, corridors, galley, provision stores and refrigeration machinery for the latest newbuilding ferry vessel being built at Singapore Technologies Marine's shipyard for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs' subsidiary LD Lines. The contract was signed in November 2008 and the project is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2010. Almaco’s Accommodation Systems division will deliver a full turnkey for 226 Cabins and Corridors on both passenger and crew decks. The scope of supply includes design, supply of material, assembly, installation onboard and all background works such as ducting, piping, insulation, electrical. The design and standards of the cabins are of higher quality than those offered in earlier vessels.

Port, Rail Partners Celebrate Opening of Intermodal Railyard

The was joined by two of its rail partners in dedicating the Napoleon Intermodal Rail Yard, a new facility permitting efficient ship to rail transfer of cargo containers at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal. The rail yard provides a new link for NAFTA commerce. Its dedication was announced as U.S. President George Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon meet in for the annual North American Leadership Summit. CN, with a rail network spanning the U.S. Midwest and , is the first Class 1 railroad to serve the new rail yard via its switching agent, the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad. Marlink 5Yr Contract with Aida Cruises

Marlink, the world's largest maritime satellite communications integrator has announced a new five year contract with German cruise company Aida Cruises, for the supply of its Sealink(T) satellite communications system. Sealink(T) will be provided to five existing cruise vessels and three planned new builds, the first of which will be in operation from spring 2009 with the others in commission in 2010 and 2011. The new contract is a continuation of an existing relationship in the delivery of Marlink's service to the Aida Cruises.

Port Everglades Named As Fast Growing Containerport

Broward County’s Port Everglades has been ranked as one of the five fastest growing container ports among the nation’s 20 largest seaports, with a 16 percent increase in containerized cargo from 2003 to 2004, according to newly released year-end data by the P.I.E.R.S. Trade Information Service. “We’re celebrating another year of dramatic success in our container business, which is due in part to an expanding diversification of container routes and services,” said Port Director Ken Krauter. Over the 12 months January through December 2004, containerized cargo at Port Everglades has grown 16 percent from 429,315 loaded TEUs (20-foot equivalent units – the industry’s standard for measuring containerized cargo) in 2003 to 499,701 TEUs in 2004.
