Turkey to Modernize Pakistan’s Subs
The Turkish defense firm Defense Technologies and Engineering (STM) won the tender to modernize Pakistan's submarines against its French competitor DCNS, reports Daily Sabah. STM and Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) have concluded the deal to upgrade the Pakistan Navy’s three Agosta 90B (aka Khalid-class) submarines. The upgrade will be carried out in Pakistan. STM noted that the first upgraded submarine will be delivered in “45 months.” This is likely a typo for ‘4-5 months.’ The remaining two, which are currently listed as optional, will be delivered to Pakistan within a year of one another. Fincantieri to Supply Four OPVs to the Bangladesh Coast Guard
Fincantieri has been awarded the contract with the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) for the supply of four Italian Navy “Minerva” class corvettes to be upgraded and converted into Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), and to provide the related logistics support services. These units, which will be decommissioned by the Italian Navy and replaced by the new vessels covered by the fleet renewal program, have been remised by the Italian Navy through a reselling contract executed by the Central Unit for Naval Armament and Fincantieri. The last lowering of the flag of the first couple of vessels "Minerva" and "Sibilla" was held last 14 May in Augusta. Present at the ceremony the Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, Admiral De Giorgi.
OSD Designs Windfarm Vessel Range
OSD-IMT, the U.K. division of Offshore Ship Designers (OSD), announced it has developed a range of new designs of offshore windfarm service operation vessels (SOVs). The 1,350 dwt IMT972 SOV is powered by two Steerprop SP25 or equal 1900 kWe fixed pitch azimuth propulsion units. There is also an option for fitting two 2.5 MW Voith Turbo main thrusters. Frequency-controlled electric motor-driven CPP thruster units are fitted forward, comprising two tunnel-type bow thrusters and one retractable bow thruster for station-keeping and high-dynamic performance under maneuvering or DP conditions.
America's VSE Corp. Awarded NAVSEA Foreign Navy Contracts
VSE Corporation informs that its International Group has received several delivery orders totaling more than $13.4M to continue work performed under its Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Naval Ship Transfer and Repair (N*STAR) contract through the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) International Fleet Support Program. Egyptian Navy Fast Missile Craft (FMC) Post-Delivery Activation, Maintenance and Training VSE will provide technical, logistic and administrative support on post-delivery activation and reactivation plans for critical systems and subsystems in support of four Fast Missile Craft (FMCs) being delivered to Egypt. VSE will provide in-country support to the Egyptian Navy under this delivery order, which has a period of performance of 13 months and a potential value of $7.6M.
LNG Facility Contract for Ezion Group in Australia
Ezion wins a third contract to provide full logistics & support services for development of LNG facilities on Curtis Island, Queensland, Australia. This LNG facility which is the third of the eight proposed in Queensland, Australia, has an initial capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) and expected to increase production to 16 Mtpa. The Queensland government has estimated that 50 Mtpa of LNG could be produced from the Surat and Bowen Basins in Queensland that could be piped to the coast for export. This contract is the fourth major LNG related project that the Group has secured in Australia since 2009 and it has a value of approximately US$ 71-million. The US$ 71 million is in relation to the development of the first two LNG trains.

The original five-year contract with Public Works and Government Services Canada began in 2001, and was renewed in 2006 for an additional five years. As a result of the contract with GE, the RCN can dedicate resources to other equipment and maintenance tasks.
