BP, Rio Tinto in Year-long Marine Biofuel Trial

Mining giant Rio Tinto has entered an agreement with the oil major BP to start a one-year biofuel trial to reduce carbon emissions from Rio Tinto’s marine fleet. Under the trial, BP is supplying Rio Tinto with marine biofuel for approximately 12 months. Fortescue Future Industries Buys PSV from MMA Offshore for Green Ammonia Conversion

Australian offshore vessel owner MMA Offshore has completed the sale of the vessel “MMA Leveque” to a subsidiary of Fortescue Future Industries (“FFI”) for US$7.75M.FFI plans to convert the 74.87 meters long platform supply vessel to dual fuel with the objective of operating almost totally on green ammonia.

MPA Awards Two Bunker Licenses

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has awarded two new bunker supplier licences to Minerva Bunkering and TFG Marine, following its call for applications for new licences in December 2019.Bunkering services in the Port of Singapore and oil trading remain resilient despite the global COVID-19 pandemic. M/V Trudy Takes on Biofuel Bunkers in Rotterdam

Bavarian ship management company MINSHIP and its subsidiary MINMARINE said that a bulk carrier in their fleet of managed vessels, M/V Trudy, has successfully bunkered biofuel at the Port of Rotterdam.The biofuel bunkered by the 2009-built, 30,790-dwt bulk carrier on April 17 was GoodFuels’ sustainable Bio-fuel Oil MR1-100: which is a second generation sustainable biofuel produced from certified feedstock that is labelled as waste or residue.Since biofuel will be the only fuel burnt in the main engine of M/V Trudy for the next 8-10 days…

TFG Marine Names New CEO

Trafigura's marine fuels joint venture TFG Marine said on Wednesday that Anders Gronborg had been appointed as its chief executive to oversee expansion efforts.Gronborg ended 27 years at World Fuel Services in 2018, most recently as global head of marine fuel supplies.He also served as senior vice president and board member for World Fuel Services affiliates.Trafigura holds a majority stake in TFG, whose other two owners are tanker firm Frontline and dry bulk carrier Golden Ocean. (Reporting by Julia Payne; Editing by Alexander Smith)
