Dolphin announced that the newly delivered high-capacity 3D seismic vessel, Polar Empress, is in full production towing 14 streamers on the Maud Extension Multi-Client survey in the Barents Sea. At the end of June, the vessel will mobilize for an exclusive contract with duration in excess of three months. Dolphin claims the special purpose built seismic vessel is one of the most advanced vessel in the industry. A partnership between Canadian government and private industry today unveiled high precision 3D printed models of HMS Erebus, Sir John Franklin’s lead ship found last year in Canada’s Arctic waters as part of Parks Canada’s search for the vessels of the lost 1845 expedition. The model was unveiled in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Officials from Fisheries and Oceans Canada joined with Canadian geospatial software company CARIS and geomatics technology innovation support centre TECTERRA to unveil the models.

A young mechanical engineer has been recognized for her outstanding effort and achievement after winning a prestigious apprenticeship award from North East Scotland College. The SA Agulhas will soon return with the SANAE 49 over-wintering team that has just spent 14 months at SANAE IV, the South African research base in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica. The SA Agulhas is South Africa's polar research vessel. She has been in service for almost thirty years and is nearing the end of her term of service. The 6,122 gt Agulhas, built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1977,  is used to service the three SANAP research bases in the Southern Ocean and Antarctica as well as various research voyages. In recognition of her upcoming centennial, the tug Delaware is now being restored to her 1912 appearance in full public view at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland.
