W&O Inks Distribution Deal with Tranberg

W&O, a global supplier to the marine and upstream oil and gas markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation, and engineered solutions, announced a new OEM partner, Tranberg. A member of R. STAHL Technology Group, Tranberg offers offshore, marine and helideck lighting control solutions. W&O will assume exclusive distribution responsibilities in North America for Tranberg’s nonhazardous lighting to include helideck and navigation. W&O announced that it has acquired Engine Monitor Inc. (EMI) . Based in St. Rose, La., EMI provides engineering and manufacturing as a marine integrator of critical vessel monitoring and control systems. In addition, EMI offers after-the-sale support via a highly skilled field service team, expert in-house repair capabilities and a diverse engineering team. “W&O and EMI have collaborated on a number of successful projects over the years'” said Michael Hume, President/CEO of W&O. W&O Opposes McCain Amendment

W&O announced its opposition to the McCain Amendment (amendment #2) to S.1, which it said would cripple the U.S. shipbuilding industry by striking the U.S. build requirement provisions of the Jones Act. “The amendment Senator John McCain has put forth would devastate W&O’s business and others operating in the maritime industry. The ripple effect of this legislation would also impact companies and individuals outside our industry, significantly affecting the 480,000 jobs tied to maritime operations,” said Michael Hume, president and CEO of W&O.

W&O Actuated Valve Solution for Vigorous

W&O is one of the partners that supported Vigor in the $40m project to build and deliver the largest floating drydock in the U.S. – Vigor Industrial’s Vigorous –  which was delivered recently to its new home in Portland on the Willamette River. W&O provided an actuated valve solution for the ballast system of the drydock, and from design specification through initial commissioning, the W&O team provided technical and product support  for the Vigorous ballast system, a system that uses SPACE Gate Valves, EIM Electric Actuators, reach rods and deck stands.

The marine industry watched as the United States’ largest floating drydock, the Vigorous, was delivered to its final home at Vigor Industrial’s Portland shipyard on the Willamette River in August. W&O is one of the partners that supported Vigor in this $40 million dollar project, by providing an actuated valve solution for the ballast system of the drydock. From design specification through initial commissioning, the W&O team has provided technical and product expertise for the Vigorous ballast system, utilizing SPACE Gate Valves, EIM Electric Actuators, reach rods and deck stands.

Many Leadership Changes at W&O

W&O launched a new branch in Halifax, Canada. The new branch is located at 133 Ilsley Avenue, Dartmouth, NS B3B 1S9. With a branch already established in Vancouver, W&O’s growing Canadian presence well-positions them to support the completion of the Canadian Navy’s $35 billion fleet expansion program over the next 20 to 30 years. “Our established Halifax and Vancouver locations provide us with a competitive advantage over other non-Canadian competitors,” said Michael Hume, President and CEO of W&O.
