MOL and Petrobras Sign Cargo Transfer Vessels Deals

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Brazil’s state-owned energy giant Petrobras have signed a charter contract for cargo transfer vessel (CTV) SeaLoader 2, and agreed to start negotiations for a new CTV shipbuilding contract by the end of 2024.MOL signed the deal through its wholly owned subsidiary, SeaLoading Holding, which owns and operates CTVs.SeaLoading started a CTV agreement with Petrobras for SeaLoader 2 on a trial period in January 2022, and successfully completed more than 30 crude oil offloading operations from Petrobras' FPSOs located in the Santos Basin…

Bangladesh Puts to use China-built Crude Oil Offloading Facility

Bangladesh started in recent days a large crude oil receiving and offloading facility built by China that allows the south Asian oil importer to significantly reduce the cost of shipping in crude oil.The single-point mooring facility at Chattogram port last Sunday offloaded 82,000 tons (about 600,000 barrels) of crude oil from a 100,000-ton tanker, said an official with state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Corp (BPC).The project is majority-funded by the Chinese government and build by a unit of Chinese state oil major CNPC, said the BPC official who declined to be named as he's not authorized to sp

Valeura Energy Completes Modification of MT Jaka Tarub Vessel for Wassana Offshore Oil Field

Oil and gas company Valeura Energy said Monday that modifications to the MT Jaka Tarub crude oil storage vessel were complete, making the vessel compatible with infrastructure at its Wassana oil field, offshore Thailand.According to Valeura Energy, the vessel is capable of tandem crude oil loading/offloading. "Subject to favorable metocean conditions, the vessel will arrive at the Wassana field in the coming days, after which Valeura intends to resume oil production operations, targeting initial rates of up to 3,000 bbls/d, net to the 89% working interest share held by its subsidiary company Valeura Energy Asia Pte. Valeura Energy Books Tanker for Gulf of Thailand Oil Field

Oil and gas company Valeura Energy has entered into a definitive agreement with PT Samudra Alam Transport to charter the MT Vula crude oil tanker to store oil produced from the Wassana oil field, offshore in the Gulf of Thailand.In Q2 2022, Valeura acquired KrisEnergy International (Thailand) Holdings Ltd. which owns and operates two licenses in the offshore Gulf of Thailand. The acquisition included the suspended Wassana oil field and the fully appraised Rossukon oil field. Report: PDVSA Set to Restart Production from Corocoro Offshore Oil Field

Alfa Laval to Suppy Pumping Systems for China-built FPSO

Swedish company Alfa Laval  has won an order to supply Framo pumping systems to an FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) vessel to be built in China.The provider of specialized products and engineering solutions based on its key technologies of heat transfer, separation and fluid handling said in a press release that the order has a value of approximately SEK 70 million ($7.72 mln).It was booked late September in the Pumping Systems unit of the Marine Division, with deliveries scheduled for 2019.The order comprises marine pumping systems for crude oil offloading, slop, produced water, off-spec oil and ballast pump duties."I am pleased to announce this order for our Framo pumping systems.

ABS to Class Ultra Deepwater Offloading Unit

The Remora HiLoad DP BR unit design approved by ABS will have advanced capabilities for offloading operations in Brazil's Santos Basin. ABS, a provider of classification services to the global offshore industry, has been selected to class the Remora HiLoad dynamic positioning (DP) BR loading unit, a second generation of the HiLoad DP system that connects to and keeps conventional tankers in position during crude oil offloading from floating production installations. Update: LOOP Terminal Shutdown

LOOP's Offshore Marine Terminal suspended its crude oil offloading operations on August 13 while investigating an oil sheen discovered along the pipeline. According to the terminal, field crews continue to execute the repair plan as scheduled. Estimates indicate that marine offloading operations may resume between August 21-23. LOOP said it will continue to evaluate options to safely expedite offloading operations when repairs are complete. All other pipelines into and out of the Clovelly Hub remain operational. loopllc.com

Offshore Terminal Shut After Sheen Discovered

LOOP's Offshore Marine Terminal suspended its crude oil offloading operations while investigating an oil sheen discovered along the LOOP pipeline right-of-way on August 13. Sheening continued in the area of the pipeline. Activities are underway to inspect and repair the pipeline. Preliminary estimates indicate that marine offloading operations may resume between August 23 and 2. LOOP said it will continue to evaluate options to safely expedite offloading operations when repairs are complete. These activities do not affect LOOP's onshore operations at the Clovelly Hub and deliveries of crude oil continue on schedule. All other pipelines into and out of the Clovelly Hub remain operational.

FPSO Offshore Angola FEED Contract for KBR

KBR awarded FEED for FPSO topsides and hull, Luanda Office to play major role in supplying local content. KBR announce that it has been awarded a FEED contract to perform work for the topsides and hull associated with a new-build, double-sided, single-bottom hull Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO will be located offshore Angola and FEED is scheduled to start immediately, with a duration of 12 months. KBR’s scope covers the permanently moored FPSO using a spread mooring system. The vessel will be capable of storing a minimum of 1MM BBLS and housing 130 persons on board. The topsides will utilize a single train designed to process 80,000 barrels of oil per day and 90 million standard cubic feet per day at an export pressure of 3,500 psi.

ROV Deployable Strain Sensor Assembly

BMT Scientific Marine Services Inc., a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has developed a sensor assembly and installation tool that permits strain sensors to be installed on an underwater pipeline using a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Known as a Subsea Strain Sensor Assembly (SSSA), it is attached to a pipeline or riser in depths of up to 10,000 ft below sea level. Once secured onto the pipe, the sensor assembly measures static and dynamic tensile and bending strain and alerts offshore operators if the pipe is likely to be strained excessively or to suffer fatigue damage in future.

Owner Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. Samsung's latest technological innovation is the successful completion and delivery of an 2,000,000 bbls FPSO, Bonga, built for the Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, SNEPCO in June 2002. The vessel, which is a double hull type floating oil production, storage, and offloading unit (FPSO), will be permanently spread moored in Bonga field located offshore Nigeria in water depth ranging from 1,000 to 1,125 m. The Machinery space will be located underneath the accommodation spaces. The double bottom in way of machinery spaces is used as sludge and oily water drain tanks.

FMC Chosen for Sonatrach Oil Offloading Project

FMC Technologies, Inc. the development of five offshore loading stations for transportation of crude oil and condensate from onshore facilities. The total project scope, valued at approximately $240 million, includes the supply of five SOFEC* CALM (catenary anchor leg mooring) type buoys for export terminals with associated PLEM (Pipeline End Manifolds), as well as onshore and offshore pipelines and onshore facilities, including metering and pumping stations. FMC Technologies plans to subcontract the pipeline design, supply and installation and the onshore facilities to OPE of Houston, Texas. The estimated value of the OPE package is approximately $120 million, making the resulting estimated value of the project to FMC Technologies approximately $120 million.

Coflexip Stena Offshore Wins Bongo Installation Deal

Coflexip Stena Offshore International has been awarded through Single Buoy Moorings (SBM) a significant part of the mooring and installation package for Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company's (SNEPCO) Bonga field development. This field is located in OML* 118 some 120 km offshore Nigeria's Niger Delta South West coastline in 3,600 ft. (1,100 m) of water. The field is operated by SNEPCO (55%) on behalf of Nigerian National Petroleum Company in partnership with Esso Exploration and Production Company Nigeria Ltd (20%), Nigeria Agip Exploration Ltd (12.2%) and Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd (12.5%). CSO International's scope will cover project management, engineering, procurement, transportation and installation of three dynamic 19-in.
