Ingram Christens New Towboat Steve Alley

Ingram Marine Group this week held a christening ceremony in New Orleans for Steve Alley, the fifth new towboat in the series of 10 ordered by the Nashville-based operator.The four-decked, welded-steel, USCG Subchapter M-compliant towboat was designed by Ingram Marine Group, Louisiana shipbuilder Main Iron Works, and naval architect Ashraf Degedy, PE.The 78-foot-long, 32-foot-wide newbuild is outfitted with twin Caterpillar Marine tier 3 diesel engines and Reintjes gearboxes, John Deere generators, and 76-inch Michigan special propellers.

On June 24, Ingram Marine Group held a special christening ceremony for four vessels: M/V Capt. Roy Daniels, M/V Randy Hooper, M/V Debbie L. Owen and M/V Harold B. Warren. The M/V Debbie L. Ingram Adds Two New Towboats to Its Fleet

U.S.-based inland waterways shipping company Ingram Marine Group on Wednesday held a ceremony to christen the Adrienne M. Moore and honor of the soon-to-be-completed Tom Cornwell. The ‘Greening’ of America’s Marine Highways

Ingram Barge Company sees two kinds of green in their newest venture on the inland rivers. In late March, the Paducah-McCracken County Riverport Authority and Ingram Barge Company announced plans to assess the viability of Intermodal River Transportation, utilizing the largest flat-top crane in North America and Ingram’s towboats and barges. On March 27th, that plan came to life as the Paducah Riverport Authority’s 200-ton crane lifted 54 empty containers and stacked them neatly on an Ingram-owned barge. An Ingram towboat then transported the container laden barge to the port of St. Louis and then back to Paducah for unloading. The highly successful trial run tested the logistics of moving the intermodal containers via barge in the nation’s heartland.

Ingram Barge Order 20 Tank Barges for 2015

Ingram Barge Company say they will be building 20 tank barges in 2015 to meet growing demand for chemical shipments. While most of the company’s recent tank barges have come through acquisitions, this continued expansion in their barge fleet coincides with a 10-year plan that began in 2007 to build barges with Trinity Industries. Ingram's building strategy has been able to maintain their fleet size as barges reach retirement age. This announcement demonstrates their’s commitment to continue building tank barges as part of its goal to meet its growing customers’ demand in the Chemical Liquids sector. Ingram Barge explains that over the past several years, inexpensive natural gas has increased domestic chemical production and demand for new tank barges.

Ingram to sell its Materials Unit

Ingram Industries Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee, and Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Co. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, announced today they have entered into an agreement for Ingram to sell its Ingram Materials LLC subsidiary to Pine Bluff. Ingram Materials is one of the nation’s premier producers of fine aggregate used by the construction industry for concrete, asphalt and masonry projects in Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Northern Alabama. Ingram Materials operates three sand dredges on the Ohio River in Paducah, Kentucky, and has distribution facilities in Nashville, Clarksville and New Johnsonville, Tennessee; Paducah, Kentucky; and Decatur and Florence, Alabama. The Ingram Materials business was first established in 1927 by other owners who called it the Ohio River Sand Company.
