Kenny to Take the BMT Helm

When BMT Group Ltd (BMT) current CEO Peter French retires in September, he will be succeeded by  Sarah Kenny, who joins BMT on August 1. “Sarah is well qualified to take on this role," said BMT’s Chairman, Sir John Hood. "She is ambitious for BMT and her extensive background in the marine and defence industries means she is ideally positioned to ensure that BMT’s research and development roots are cultivated and innovation nurtured. Kenny comes from QinetiQ where most recently she established and led the Maritime, Land & Weapons business as Managing Director, reporting to the Group CEO.

Dittmann Named Chairman of SEA Europe

Kjeld Dittmann, the Managing Director of Lyngsø Marine A/S, is the new Chairman of the European Ships and Maritime Equipment Association (SEA Europe). He succeeds Govert Hamers, CEO of Vanderlande Industries in the Netherlands, who has completed his term as Chairman. BMT Reports Strong Performance for 2014

BMT Group Ltd. announced a strong performance for the year to September 30, 2014, a period which saw BMT secure revenues of £165.1 million with underlying operating profits of £10 million, a proportion of which has been distributed to the staff through the company’s profit share schemes. Comprising 24 operating companies, involved in activity across 10 markets in 35 countries, the BMT group said it continues to concentrate on its core maritime-focused offering across the defense, energy, environment and transport sectors.

When the Institution of Naval Architects was formed in 1860 it became one of the bastions of Victorian engineering, enabling and encouraging the exchange of knowledge, information and good practice in the field of naval architecture. The basic principles laid down in the early days saw the Institution thrive as a body representing all the maritime nations of the world and this was recognized in its incorporation by Royal Charter in 1910 as the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).

Fulcrum Buys BMT Snyek Technologies

BMT Group announced the sale of BMT Syntek Technologies Inc to Fulcrum Corporation. Fulcrum Corporation, based in Arlington, VA., providies customized services and solutions to organizations within the Department of Defense, the Department of Transportation, and various private sector companies. The Board of BMT Group believes this to be a beneficial move for the staff of BMT Syntek Technologies, given the prolonged period of time during which the company has seen its traditional market become increasingly squeezed and restricted to small business set-aside contracts.

BMT Expands Into Central London

To strengthen BMT’s market position in blue water surveys, BMT Group Ltd, acquired marine survey and consulting engineers, Verweij & Hoebee. BMT Reports Strong Full Year Performance

Navcon Navegacao e Controle Ltda, a Brazilian specialist in monitoring systems for the offshore oil and gas industry, entered into a formal partnership with BMT Scientific Marine Services Ltda. New Vice President for AIRTO

Peter French, Chief Executive of BMT Group, has been appointed by the Board of AIRTO to the role of Vice President, with immediate effect. Peter has served as BMT’s Chief Executive since 2005, and has served on the AIRTO Board as a Director since March 2007. BMT Group, which is has an annual turnover of £142million, is an international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, working principally in the defence, energy and environment, marine risk and insurance, maritime transport and ports and logistics sectors. BMT has been a long standing member of AIRTO having joined in 1986.

Bethel Named Honorary President, Society of Maritime Industries

Archie Bethel, CBE, has succeeded Alan Johnston, CBE, as Honorary President of the Society of Maritime Industries at the Society’s Board meeting today. Archie Bethel is Divisional Chief Executive of Babcock International Group plc’s marine and technology division. In welcoming Bethel to his role, the Society’s Chairman, Peter French said “I am delighted Archie has agreed to be our President. Maersk Line’s 3rd Hamburg, Far East Service

On 12 February 2010, the container ship Maersk Sydney called at the Port of Hamburg for the first time as part of the Maersk Line’s expanded AE-10 scheduled liner service. This liner service links the ports of Shenzhen (Dachan Bay), Ningbo, Shanghai, Kaohsiung, Shenzhen (Yantian), Hong Kong and Tanjung Pelepas with continental Europe. A recent addition is the inclusion of Hamburg as a port of call for the AE-10 service. The service also calls the Baltic Sea ports of Arhus, Gothenburg and Gdansk.

Nigel Gee and Associates Acquired by BMT

Nigel Gee and Associates Ltd., has been acquired by British Maritime Technology Ltd (BMT). With Nigel Gee’s mix of military, commercial and yacht design expertise, this acquisition will enhance the portfolio of services BMT offers to clients.
