Vitol Enters Jebel Ali Bunker Market

Vitol Bunkers said has extended its bunkering services to Jebel Ali—the largest container port in the Middle East—and to Dubai's Port Rashid Cruise Terminal, from July 2022.According to Vitol, the move will help it to address the supply requirements of strategic marine customers in key Middle Eastern locations.Vessels visiting Jebel Ali will have access to Vitol Bunkers’ marine products produced at the Vitol-owned FRCL refinery in Fujairah.  These include a range of marine fuel grades as well as bio-marine fuels for customers wishing to mitigate their carbon emissions.

Car Carrier Helios Ray in Dubai for Assessment After Explosion

An Israeli-owned ship hit by an explosion in the Gulf of Oman strategic waterway has arrived at a port in Dubai, where is it is due to be assessed in dry dock.The MV Helios Ray, a vehicle-carrier ship, was hit overnight between Thursday and Friday by a blast above the water line that a U.S. defence official said ripped holes in both sides of its hull.Israel’s defense minister on Saturday said that an initial assessment had found that Iran was responsible for the explosion. There was no immediate comment from Iranian officials.The blue and white ship is now berthed in Dubai’s Port Rashid, having sailed from its position off the coast of Omani capital Muscat…

Stena Imagination Named in Dubai

The MR tanker Stena Imagination was named in the Port Rashid Terminal in the heart of Dubai. According to Erik Hånell, President & CEO of Stena Bulk and CEO of Stena Weco, “Naming the Stena Imagination in Dubai is very much a strategic choice. Stena Bulk recently opened an office here together with Stena Weco and Golden Stena Weco. We already had a presence in the market in the region but wanted to get even closer to our customers. Stena’s tanker business already has a presence in the area with contacts in the neighboring region.

New Marina for Luxury Yachts at DP World's Rashid Port

DP World has announced plans to build a new marina for luxury yachts at Port Rashid in Dubai. The project comes in response to an increased demand for luxury yachts. Tenders for construction will be invited soon. The first phase of the project is scheduled to open by 2018, with a capacity of more than 400 boats and sailing yachts with lengths in the range of 15 to 35 metres. The second phase will be for luxury yachts berth with length of more than 100 metres. Dubai Maritime City To Develop “The Dolphin Residence”

Dubai Maritime City (DMC), the world class maritime cluster in the heart of Dubai, today announced its partnership jointly with Sharaf Investments and Al Ali Property Investment (API) to develop “The Dolphin Residence” within the City, into a high-end iconic Freehold mixed use development complete with offices, private residences, a four star hotel, shopping mall, mosque, parking lot and leisure facilities. Shipbuilding: DDW's Future is Bright

Royal Naval survey ship 'HMS Enterprise' discovers two previously uncharted wrecks in Port Rashid Harbour. New Dubai Ferry Route Connects Cruise Terminal

Dubai Ferry’s new October 2012 route, connects the cruise terminal at Port Rashid with Al Ghubaiba station in Bur Dubai. The new route is part of the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) efforts to upgrade the marine transport services. According to RTA, the 100-seater ferries, which until now served on two routes — from Al Ghubaiba to Burj Al Arab and back, from Dubai Marina to Atlantis and back — have grown in popularity since their launch in March last year. The sleek looking boats can travel at a maximum speed of 24 knots and have restrooms, kiosks for selling souvenirs and snacks as well as four LCD screens to provide entertainment facilities on board.

Dubai Maritime Receives Shiplift Platform

Dubai Maritime City has placed the first shiplift within its Industrial Precinct. Industrial Precinct of the City will incorporate two shiplifts manufactured by world-renowned shiplift specialist company, Hydraudyne Rexroth, said an official. One of the shiplifts will be 90 m long and 25 m wide and designed to lift vessels up to 3,000 tonnes while the other will be 140 m long and 30 m wide and designed to lift boats of up to 6,000 tonnes. Both the shiplifts will be capable of 14 m vertical travel and the platforms and vessels shall be raised and lowered by a series of winches and steel ropes along the length of the shiplifts. Dubai Maritime City is going full steam ahead with setting up the new shiplift facilities, which will be commissioned by March 2007.

Dubai Drydocks will launch its $60 million new building panel line and steel structure assembly facility in July. The yard, whose current shipbuilding facility has a monthly turnover of 2,800 tons of steel, plans turning over similar volumes of steel per month for the new building. It is already building the gravity base structure for a 10,000 steel construction with an extensive piping arrangement and four 6,200 dwt bunker tankers due to be delivered in March. Dubai Drydocks, which also wants to be involved in tanker, bulk carrier and containership sectors through series building, is planning to build four 47,000 dwt products carriers in a series that could extend to 20 vessels.

Dubai Fines Polluting Tanker

Dubai fined a tanker $40,900 for dumping oil off the Gulf Arab emirate's coast, still recovering from a spill last month, the United Arab Emirates' news agency WAM reported. Hussein Lootah, Dubai municipality's deputy director for environmental affairs, told the agency that the tanker was caught on Thursday dumping waste oil off Port Rashid. Lootah identified the vessel as Atlantic Blue, without giving further details. It was not immediately clear if he was referring to the 338,000-dwt tanker with the same name which is operated by Singapore-based Tanker Pacific Singapore. He said swift action was necessary because there were many such violations in UAE waters.
