Oil Plus bags $1.5 mi Middle East Deals
Oil Plus has secured contracts worth more than $1.5m over the past three months and has significantly expanded its footprint in the Middle East. The company has also reported a strong start to the year with sales up by 285% compared to the last quarter of 2017. Due to the surge of new business, the Newbury-based company, which employs in excess of 30 people, plans to recruit another eight over the next 12 months. The contracts will see Oil Plus deliver reservoir souring modelling, production chemistry and iron sulfide studies for several international oil companies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Brazil, Thailand and Europe. Oil Plus has gone from strength to strength under its new ownership and management team having achieved significant growth since it was acquired by Mark Cavanagh last year.

Environmental regulations for ships are getting more stringent, but automated sensor technology could help ship operators remain in compliance. The recent agreement signed in Paris, at the UN Climate Change Conference, will require all industries to keep reducing their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Although there was no specific mention of shipping, the aim of keeping global temperature rises below 2ºC this century will require the industry to play its part – as it is responsible for about 2% of global CO2 emissions.

Lloyd’s Releases Guide for FLNG Facilities
Lloyd’s Register published a rule set to guide the design, construction and operation of floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facilities – the biggest, most complex floating structures ever seen – meaning natural gas will now be safer, cheaper and have a lower environmental footprint, the company said. Launched today, Lloyd’s Register’s Offshore Rules for FLNG vessels and facilities are based on a real-world projects and extensive work with key industry alliances. RINA Acquisitions Fuel Growth
International verification, certification and ship classification group RINA continued to grow in 2011 as it embarked on an acquisition strategy. Turnover for 2011 was up to 249 million Euros (+21 per cent) and EBITDA 41 million Euros.
