QinetiQ’s Paramarine Selected by the Australian Maritime College

QinetiQ Maritime’s Paramarine ship and submersible design software has been selected by the Australian Maritime College (AMC) to use as part of their maritime engineering training program. QinetiQ Updates Ship Design Software

QinetiQ Maritime’s Paramarine software, a ship and submersible design tool, has released its latest version of software including a number of new capabilities. The new functionality in Paramarine V8, developed by QinetiQ GRC, is intended to further meet the needs of commercial ship designers and builders, whilst reinforcing its capabilities in the naval market. Brazilian Navy Selects Paramarine

Paramarine advanced marine design software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, has been selected by the Brazilian Navy for use in the design of a specialist offshore support vessel on behalf of Petrobras , the Brazilian national oil company. The eventual fleet of boats will be used to service Petrobras’s extensive offshore oil fields. The Brazilian Navy has the largest navy in Latin America, with over 100 vessels, including an aircraft carrier, with many more in construction including nuclear submarines. The Brazilian Navy has more than 60,000 personnel and significant in-house naval architecture capabilities, some of whom recently attended an intensive two week Paramarine training programme in the UK.

Paramarine SeaWeigh Selected

Paramarine SeaWeigh, the on-board stability management system and part of the Paramarine suite of advanced marine design software developed by QinetiQ GRC, has been selected by the UK MoD as the on-board stability management system  for the Queen Elizabeth Carrier class. Two Queen Elizabeth class carriers are being built for the Royal Navy. HMS Queen Elizabeth is expected to enter service in 2016 and HMS Prince of Wales in 2018. The vessels will displace about 65,000 tonnes (64,000 long tons), be 280 metres (920 ft.) long and have a tailored air group of up to forty aircraft. They will be the largest warships ever to be constructed for the Royal Navy. Paramarine SeaWeigh will be used to manage the impact on stability from complex payloads, their distribution and tank states.

Paramarine Software used on New Submersible

QinetiQ GRC naval architects in combination with their Paramarine software are working with QED Naval Ltd  in the development of a marine platform (Subhub) that is being designed to transport, install, anchor and maintain wave and tidal turbines through life. This will bring major cost and time advantages to tidal turbine field installations on the sea bed. QED Naval Ltd was founded in April 2008 with the intent of developing products for the wave and tidal renewable energy industry. Subhub is the first of these products. Rolls-Royce Selects Paramarine Ship Design Software

Paramarine software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, has been selected by Rolls-Royce who is broadening its ship design capabilities. Paramarine will be Rolls-Royce’s marine design software tool of choice in support of their newly formed team dedicated to the development of naval ship designs. Rolls-Royce has been at the forefront of innovative ship design for nearly 40 years, designing over 800 vessels, used mainly in the commercial sector. This new ship design team will create innovative designs for customers such as navies, coast guards and other maritime agencies. The primary focus will be on offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) and naval auxiliary opportunities, rather than large combatant ships such as frigates and destroyers.

Defense Shipyard Uses Paramarine Design Software

Spanisch shipyard Navantia uses Paramarine Advance Marine Design Software for naval ship & submarine design. Paramarine software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, is being used by Navantia to support the development of both new naval surface ships and submarines. It is specifically being used for stability calculations on submarines and surface ships in development such as new frigates, patrol boats and corvettes. Navantia employs over 5,500 staff and is Spain'Â’s leading naval military technology company offering a wide range of products and services. These include the design, construction and manufacturing of hi-tech military and civil vessels, control and combat systems, the overhaul and alteration of military and civil vessels and diesel engine and turbine manufacturing.

Egyptian MTC Selects Paramarine Design Software

Paramarine advanced marine design software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, has been selected by the Egyptian Military Technical College (MTC) to support the teaching of ship and submarine design. Paramarine Software for Stability Analysis

Paramarine marine design software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, is being used by Babcock in its Marine and Technology Division, to support both their defense and commercial maritime business. Babcock employs over 27,000 people across the UK, Africa, North America, Australasia and the Middle East. In its Marine and Technology Division Babcock employs more than 50 naval architects who work for a number of navies including the UK Royal Navy. Paramarine advanced marine design software by QinetiQ GRC is being used by BAE Systems to design Astute the new class of nuclear submarines for the royal navy. The design and construction of BAE Systems’ Astute Class is an extremely challenging engineering project. Once deployed, Astute is designed to require no refuelling throughout her full service life, in excess of 25 years, and can patrol for 90 days remaining undetected thousands of miles from home and hundreds of metres underwater.

Leading Austrian Shipyard Selects Paramarine For River Vessel Design

Portsmouth, UK – 29th March 2011 - QinetiQ GRC, the developer of Paramarine advanced marine design software, has been selected by Öswag, one of Austria’s leading shipyards to assist them in the design of river vessels. They will be using Paramarine for stability calculations and damage stability on inland waterway ships primarily for the Danube and the Rhine. Öswag is based in Linz, Austria, where they maintain, repair, modify and construct riverboats for use on the river Danube and Central European lakes. With over 100 staff they can handle vessels displacing up to 3000 tonnes.
