FSRU Exemplar Arrives in Finland

Excelerate Energy's floating storage and regasification unit (“FSRU”) Exemplar arrived at the port of Inkoo, Finland on December 28, 2022. The FSRU was previously loaded with a partial cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) which will serve as the initial commissioning cargo for the terminal."The FSRU Exemplar, which is chartered to Gasgrid Finland Oy (“Gasgrid”) for a period of ten years, will provide flexible, reliable, and secure delivery of regasified LNG to Finland and other Baltic countries," the FSRU owner said.

Excelerate Energy has started natural gas deliveries to the Brazilian market at the Bahia Regasification Terminal (TR-BA) in Salvador, Bahia, in Brazil.Excelerate's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Excelerate Sequoia, which has an LNG storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters, is providing regasification services at TR-BA. The terminal has a regasification capacity of up to 700 million cubic feet per day.Excelerate and Petrobras signed the lease contract for TR-BA on September 28, following a competitive international tender process.

Bahrain LNG Import Terminal Complete

Bahrain LNG, the developer and owner of the first LNG receiving and regasification terminal developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis, has completed the mechanical construction and commissioning of the terminal.The customer is paying Bahrain LNG  as of completion and is sending out the last of the commissioning cargo so that the FSU Bahrain Spirit can redeploy on short‐term trade as intended. Estonia's Eesti Energia to Import Novatek Gas

Estonia's energy group Eesti Energia is all set to import gas from Russia's largest private gas company Novatek via Lithuania's LNG terminal based in Klaipeda, which is operated by KN,  in September.The contract with the new Klaipeda LNG terminal user was signed on Thursday. Klaipeda LNG in Full Capacity

Lithuania's liquefied natural gas (LNG)  terminal Klaipėdos Nafta (KN) said that its terminal capacities are now fully booked for the rest of the Gas Year, following the favorable situation in the international gas markets that has been determining the highest operative efficiency of the LNG terminal since the launch of its activities.The Gas Year is calculated from 1 October of the current year until 30 September of the following year.According to a press note from the operator of the Klaipėda Oil Terminal based in Klaipėda, Lithuania, in April, about 1.48 TWh of gas were regasified in the LNG terminal (28.3% more than the amount of gas regasified in the same period last year)…

BW Group, Mitsui Form FSRU Joint Venture

A joint venture agreement between Japan’s Mitsui & Co. and Singapore’s BW Group Limited will see Mitsui purchase a 49 percent share in the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) BW Integrity, while BW will maintain a 51 percent share. The deal is expected to close as soon following payment for the acquisition. BW Integrity is currently in Port Qasim on a 15-year charter to PGP Consortium Limited (PGPC), to provide LNG regasification services at Pakistan’s second LNG import terminal. BW will continue to provide commercial and technical management services.

World's Largest FSRU Named as MOL FSRU Challenger

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has announced that a naming ceremony for the MOL FSRU Challenger was held at the Okpo shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.in Korea on September 28.This is the first FSRU for MOL to independently build, own and operate. Many Guests were invited to witness the naming of our FSRU as the MOL FSRU Challenger. The MOL FSRU Challenger will provide storage and regasification services to a project in Turkey after delivery during October. Operation is slated to commence within 2017. The MOL FSRU Challenger has a LNG storage capacity of 263,000m3 and has LNG re-shipment and gas transfer capabilities. Its specifications allow for the re-export of LNG and supply of LNG to neighboring regions where the vessel is located.

Excelerate Energy Completes FSRU Sale and Leaseback

Excelerate Energy announced it has completed the long-term sale and leaseback of the FSRU Experience with a wholly owned subsidiary of CMB Financial Leasing Co. Upon completion of the 10-year agreement, Excelerate will re-purchase the FSRU from CMB. The transaction demonstrates the market’s confidence in FSRUs as financeable and dependable assets and positions Excelerate well for future financings as part of its growth strategy. The agreement enables the swap of short-term debt for long-term debt at the ultimate shareholder level, and leaves Excelerate with a strong balance sheet and a debt-to-book equity ratio of roughly 1:1. Excelerate is wholly owned by George B. Kaiser. Standard Chartered Bank acted as advisor to Excelerate.

First Gas-Up Operation at Jebel Ali LNG Import Terminal

Excelerate Energy L.P., in collaboration with Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP), has completed the first commercial gas-up operation at DUSUP's Jebel Ali LNG Import Terminal via Excelerate's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Explorer on August 31, 2016. The FSRU gassed-up all five tanks of a 173,000 m3 LNG Carrier, in a 17-hour period. DUSUP's ability to utilize the FSRU for these operations will allow LNG vessels departing regional dry docks avoid having to travel significant distances to perform this required step in the LNG cargo cycle, making Dubai a full-service LNG hub.

Pakistan Mulls Second LNG Import Terminal

BW Group (BW) has signed a 15-year agreement with Pakistan GasPort Limited (PGPL) to provide LNG regasification services utilizing a new-build Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) for the second Pakistan LNG terminal. BW’s state-of-the-art FSRU, Hull No. 2118 and currently at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in Korea, will be utilized for this project. To be delivered in 4Q2016, the vessel offers a low environmental footprint, high efficiency, storage capacity in excess of 170,000m3 and a peak regasification capacity of 750mmscfd. “We are proud to be selected as the FSRU supplier for the Pakistan project,” says Yngvil Åsheim, Managing Director of BW LNG.

Hoegh LNG Bags FSRU Deal in Chile

Oslo-based Höegh LNG said it has signed an Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU)contract with Chilean Octopus LNG for the Penco-Lirquén LNG import terminal to be located in Concepción Bay, Chile. The contract is for a period of 20 years and is expected to generate an average annual EBITDA of around USD 36 million, Höegh LNG said in a statement. The contract is subject to Octopus completing financing and obtaining necessary environmental approvals, and the planned start-up is in the second quarter 2018. Höegh LNG will service the contract with an FSRU from its newbuilding program currently in progress. The FSRU will be offered to Höegh LNG Partners LP in due course.

Egypt Gets FSRU from BW Gas

Norway-based BW Gas will provide Egypt with a liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating import terminal under a five-year contract. This comes as as the North African country's government grapples with energy shortages. "BW has been selected by The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to provide LNG regasification services utilizing a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Ain Sokhna, Egypt," said a statement from the company. The floating regasification and import terminal, which converts super-cooled LNG into gas, is Egypt’s second. An import terminal from Norway’s Hoegh LNG arrived in Egypt in April, allowing Egypt to begin LNG imports. The new terminal will have a capacity of 750 million cubic feet per day, the official said.
