Intelatus: Almost 30,000 Offshore Wind Turbines to Be Installed by 2035
Over the last few years, many statements have been made concerning growth in offshore wind turbine and foundation installation demand. These statements have been followed, in some cases, by firm orders for high-specification vessels, mainly from established players. However, many of the announcements remain unconverted into shipyard orders.According to a new report released by Intelatus Global Partners, close to 30,000 increasingly large turbines and foundations will be installed…

U.S. Offshore Wind Forecast: 45 Projects, $136B CapEx
As of the end of January 2022, there were over 45 projects in development representing a $136 billion capital expenditure and $4.4 billion annual OPEX opportunity that are forecast to be brought on stream within this and early in the next decade. What a difference a year makes. This time last year there was still some uncertainty around the federal offshore wind permitting process, the timing of offshore wind projects and certainty for the supply chain. At the beginning of 2022 the situation is more positive.
Shipbuilding: International WTIV Market Represents a $14B Opportunity
As of end-June 2021, more than 100 turbine and foundation installation and maintenance vessels will be required for offshore wind projects planned over this decade.More than 100 turbine and foundation installation and maintenance vessels will be required for offshore wind projects planned over this decade. Almost all of the current fleet of international wind turbine installation vessels will be technically redundant as installation vessels by 2025 as a consequence of the rapidly growing wind turbine sizes, greater water depths and increase in foundation size.
Market Report: FPSOs ... Charting the Path Ahead
COVID-19 will continue to skew the floating production systems market for the coming 24 months, while buying power for a large portion of FPSO contracts will be centered in Brazil and Guyana/Suriname. These two areas are expected to account for more than 60% of the FPSO contracts awarded between 2021 and 2025.These are the findings shared in a recent floating production outlook report produced by International Maritime Associates (IMA) and World Energy Reports (WER).The 100+ page…

Cruising Pause Has Major Impact on Florida's Economy
The cruise industry has certainly been among businesses hardest hit by the economic impacts of COVID-19. But the industry-rocking fallout extends well beyond the cruise lines themselves, extending through cities throughout Florida where canceled sailings are resulting in loss of revenue to public ports, government at all levels, and private companies that do business with cruise lines. These conclusions are contained in the latest Fact Finding 30 report that was released today by Fact Finding Officer Commissioner Louis E. Sola, of the Federal Maritime Commission.

Sweden: A Pioneering Nation in Green Shipping
Sweden is a role model for the global shipping community, and other countries have a great deal to learn from the work being done by the Swedish shipping industry to reduce emissions. This is one of the findings in a new report – Decarbonising Maritime Transport: The Case of Sweden – where efforts aimed at bringing about a greener shipping sector in Sweden are described as a “success story”. OECD’s International Transport Forum (ITF) published a new report – Decarbonising Maritime Transport: The Case of Sweden. The report examines the various elements which it is stated have put Swedish shipping firmly at the forefront environmentally. “We are extremely proud that Swedish shipping has been highlighted in this way by such an eminent organisation.
What’s New in Floating Production? December 2016
The December WER report examines whether OPEC’s decision to limit crude production will accelerate deepwater project starts over the next 12 to 24 months, given 3 billion barrels of oil stocks in global inventory, 5,000+ drilled-but-uncompleted shale wells in the U.S. ready to be fracked and likelihood that producers will cheat on output quotas. As we discuss in the report, the output cut could stimulate deepwater orders – but with a time lag. We also assess whether Hoegh and Maran’s orders for seven speculative FSRUs (two firm…
RMS Report Examines Marine Risk, Cargo Modeling
RMS has published a new report examining the current state of cargo modeling in the marine market, and providing a new cargo-specific approach to the assessment of vulnerability and port accumulation. The report “Marine Cargo Catastrophe Modeling: Navigating the Challenges, Charting the Opportunities” precedes the May 2016 launch of the RMS Marine Cargo Model, the industry’s first marine cargo and specie risk model. In the last four years, records have been broken twice for total insured marine losses—first for Hurricane Sandy in 2012 at $3 billion, then the explosions at Tianjin last year, reported to be $5-6 billion. While these two events have underscored the need for the industry to a develop a much deeper understanding of the risks…
