Nashville-based Ingram Barge Company announced it has formed a new material handling and supply chain solutions subsidiary, Ingram Infrastructure Group.The move, fueled by the company's acquisitions of Inland River Transport Holdings (SCF) and NexStar Solutions, is intended to enhance Ingram's end-to-end supply chain solutions capabilities.Ingram acquired integrated river transportation and logistics services provider SCF from SEACOR Holdings following the signing of a purchase agreement last October.Ingram currently operates across more than 4,500 miles of the U.S.

Neste is partnering with PTL Marine to provide Neste MY Renewable Diesel to the marine sector across the State of California.California’s Commercial Harbor Craft (CHC) regulation, established by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), took effect on January 1, 2023. This regulation requires commercial harbor craft vessels in the state to use renewable diesel (also known locally as R99 or R100) instead of ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD), to limit emissions such as particulate matter and nitrogen oxides for vessels operating in the state’s ports and near the coast.

According to the latest edition of DNV’s Maritime Forecast to 2050, the shipping industry will find it challenging to secure enough supply of carbon-neutral fuels.To meet the anticipated demand of 17 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) annually by 2030, the maritime sector would need to access 30-40% of the projected worldwide carbon-neutral fuel supply.As the shipping industry will compete for these fuels with aviation and road transportation, as well as other industries, their production needs to significantly accelerate if the industry’s emission-reduction goals are to be met.

UK-based Maritime Developments Ltd (MDL), which designs, manufactures, and delivers machines to energy sector, said that it  has secured a flexible installation project offshore Ghana.The work scope covers an installation of a flowline using MDL Third-generation Reel Drive System, operated by the expert MDL Offshore Service team.The equipment was loaded out in components from MDL’s Peterhead, Scotland facility for road transportation to Cadiz, Spain to meet the Client’s installation vessel. Nitin Gadkari, Indian Union Minister of Shipping will flag off the first movement of cement cargo through National Waterway (NW) 2 on River Brahmaputra in Assam today,  under the Shipping Ministry’s flagship programme Sagarmala. Shipping goods across borders with reusable containers and tracking systems is better for the environment, consumers and companies yet differential treatment by customs authorities can be detrimental for business. The volume of goods shipped globally has reached impressive proportions in recent decades. Goods moved annually by ship alone weigh more than 10 billion tonnes, or 15 times the weight of all cows on Earth. The estimated value of global trade has increased tenfold since 1979 to more than US$16 trillion, a figure close to the GDP of the world’s biggest economy. Crowley Maritime Corp.’s  liquefied natural gas  (LNG) services group has been awarded a multi-year contract to supply additional volumes of containerized, U.S.-sourced LNG to a major pharmaceutical company’s manufacturing plants in Puerto Rico. Ministry of Shipping, Government of India has extended its non-financial support to Mumbai and Nhava Sheva Ship Agents Association for its proposed conference on `Ease of doing business’ on Friday, May 6 at the Hotel St. Regis, Mumbai. This was confirmed by a Senior Officer, of the MoS, in a letter to MANSA following the President's request, during a visit to the ministry office to appraise them about the conference and the objective behind the same. The conference apart from the inaugural session will be demarcated into three segments. Survey shows U.S. In its just-released 2016-2020 Port Planned Infrastructure Investment Survey, the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) asked its U.S. member ports how much they and their private-sector partners plan to spend on port-related freight and passenger infrastructure over the next five years. The answer was a whopping $154.8 billion. AAPA then contrasted that number with what it believes is the “best-case” scenario for investments by the federal government into U.S. ports, including their land- and water-side connections, through 2020.

Jensen Maritime Consultants, Inc., a naval architecture and marine engineering firm owned by Crowley Maritime Corp., has developed two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge concepts. The two new fully customizable concepts aim to offering customers maximum flexibility and improved safety features, the designer said. The first concept involves outfitting an existing barge with an above-deck LNG tank. The concept can be further modified to accommodate more than one type of product, if a customer has a need for multiple liquid transfers.

Crowley Maritime Corp. informs it has responded to increased market demand, acquiring 16 additional ISO tanks for its Carib Energy group that will be used to supply, transport and distribute U.S.-sourced liquefied natural gas (LNG) to customers in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central America. Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group recently transported two massive electrical equipment enclosures with a combined weight of 196,000 pounds to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Crowley said the feat required shifting the company’s 580-foot triple-deck barge La Princesa beside its normal berth at the Crowley terminal in Jacksonville, Fla., so that the pieces could be rolled onto the lower deck of the barge free of obstruction from the loading ramp. “This orchestrated shifting of the barge and specialized loading operation is not commonly done,” said John Hourihan, senior vice president and general manager, Puerto Rico services.

Other benefits include an uninterrupted fuel supply due to the abundance and availability of U.S.-sourced LNG.
