Global Maritime Makes Two Hires in Asia Pacific

Global Maritime, a provider of marine warranty, dynamic positioning and engineering services to the offshore sector, has made two important hires to support its Asia Pacific (APAC) operations. Mei Ling Chan has been appointed as Regional Finance Manager for APAC where she will take responsibility for finance functions and reporting across the region; and Leong Weng Yoon has been named Global Maritime’s new HSEQ Manager for APAC. Leong Weng Yoon’s appointment reaffirms Global Maritime’s commitment to the highest health, safety, environmental and quality standards across its operations.

SapuraKencana GE Oil & Gas Services Bags PETRONAS FLNG Contract

LNG1 (L) Ltd. (PFLNG) to provide maintenance services for PETRONAS’ two forthcoming floating LNG vessels. A Contract Exchange ceremony for the award was held in Kuala  Lumpur on Thursday, 24 March 2016 between PFLNG and SKGE. Under the agreement, SKGE will provide PETRONAS with complete maintenance services for their fleet of twelve gas turbines as well as their fleet of GE compressors, generators and electric motors to be installed on their floating LNG vessels. SapuraKencana Operations in Brazil Grows

SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad's (“SapuraKencana”) presence in Brazil continues to grow after entering the market with its first pipelaying support vessel (“PLSV”), Sapura Diamante, on June 28, 2014. On 14 February 2016, its latest PLSV, Sapura Jade commenced work with Petróleo Brasileiro S.A (“Petrobras”) on schedule in Brazil. Royal IHC Launches Pipelay Vessel Sapura Rubi

Royal IHC has named and launched the pipelaying vessel, Sapura Rubi, in a ceremony at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The naming of the fully integrated vessel was performed by  Glaucia Maciel, Human Resource Manager of Sapura Navegação Marítima S.A. The Sapura Rubi is the fifth 550t pipelaying vessel that IHC is supplying to Sapura Navegação Marítima, a joint venture between SapuraKencana and Seadrill. All five vessels are being completely designed, engineered and built by IHC.

Royal IHC Launches Sister Pipelay Vessels

Netherlands-based Royal IHC today named and launched new pipelaying sister vessels, Sapura Jade and Sapura Ônix, in ceremonies at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. Sapura Jade’s naming was performed by Belle de Bruin, managing director of the Indofin Group, following the naming of Sapura Ônix by Dahlia Abdul Aziz, spouse of Alex Monsen, JV board member and VP of newbuild/senior vice president of Seadrill. The Sapura Jade was ordered by Sapura Navegação Marítima, a joint venture between SapuraKencana and Seadrill.

Sapurakencana Wins 3 Petronas Oil blocks

SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad today announced that it has entered into Sale and Purchase Agreements to acquire the entire interest of PETRONAS in 3 blocks offshore south Vietnam (Blocks 01/97 & 02/97, Blocks 10&11.1, Block 46-CN) for a total purchase price of US$400 million. The economic effective date of the transaction is January 1, 2014 and SapuraKencana is entitled to net revenues from these Blocks from that date. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary condition precedents including the approval of relevant government authorities. SapuraKencana was selected as the winning bidder through an international and professionally managed competitive bidding process.

Seadrill's Q2 2014 Revenue Holds Nearly Steady

Revenues for the second quarter of 2014 were US$1,222 million compared to US$1,221 million in the first quarter of 2014, according to the company's financial report. Operating profit for the quarter was US$476 million compared to US$890 million in the preceding quarter. The decrease is primarily due to inclusion of the gain on sale of the West Auriga sale of US$440 million in first quarter results. Net financial and other items for the quarter showed a gain of US$71 million compared to a gain of US$2,239 million in the previous quarter. The gain is primarily related to the sale of SapuraKencana shares and income received from Seadrill Partners of US$59 million, partially offset by a loss from Archer of US$5 million and a loss on derivative positions of US$95 million.

DBR Generatorsets Wins Large Repeat Order

DBR will supply emergency/harbor diesel generator sets for six new pipelaying vessels under construction at IHC Merwede in the Netherlands for Subsea 7 and SapuraKencana. The order for the custom engineered units, generating up to 1,875 kVA, follows DBR’s successful delivery of three similar generator sets for IHC Merwede in 2013. For each of the six new generator sets, DBR selected Mitsubishi diesel engines and either 800 kVA Leroy Somer or 1,875 kVA AvK generators. The delivery includes cooler and control panels, and the units can operate in up to 50ºC air on temperature.

COSCO Nantong Delivers Offshore Heavy Lift Vessel

COSCO (Nantong) Shipyard Co., says it has delivered the pipelay & heavy-lift vessel 'SapuraKencana 3500', to its Asian buyer. COSCO explains that the new vessel is designed to carry out multiple functions including oil piping processing, laying, installation and heavy lifting. Classed by ABS, it is capable of working in shallow water of up to 200 meters with a ten-point mooring system. The vessel is also equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning system, which enables it to carry out heavy-lifting installation of large-scale offshore structures such as platform blocks, modules and jackets, as well as S-type pipe laying operations in water depths of up to 1,500 meters.

IHC Merwede Reveals Healthy Orderbook

IHC Merwede successfully increased its orderbook in 2013 across the main sectors of its business: offshore and dredging. The company received almost € 1.8 billion worth of new orders in the past year. At the end of 2013, the order book was valued at over € 1.7 billion, which is the equivalent of a backlog of approximately two years. IHC Merwede develops and builds innovative vessels, advanced equipment and life-cycle support services for the dredging, mining and offshore industries.

Seadrill Sells $300m of SapuraKencana Shares

Seadrill, the world's biggest offshore driller by market capitalisation, has sold 230 million shares in Malaysia's SapuraKencana, raising $300 million and earning a gain of $165 million on the deal, it said on Wednesday.   Seadrill, which still owns around 490 million shares in SapuraKencana, has agreed not to sell any further shares in the company

Seadrill plans up to $305m Malaysian selldown

SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd's second largest shareholder plans to sell up to $305 million worth of shares in the Malaysian oil and gas services firm, according to a term sheet of the deal seen by Reuters. Norway's Seadrill Ltd., the world's top offshore oil driller, is offering up to 230 million shares of SapuraKencana at 4.3 ringgit each, putting the total value of the deal at up to 989 million ringgit ($305 million). The price is equivalent to a 3.4 percent discount to Wednesday's closing price of 4.45 ringgit. The deal consists of a base offer of 180 million shares, with an option to grow by 50 million shares, according to the terms. Maybank was hired as sole placing agent for the selldown. Kongsberg Technology Chosen for 10 Petrobas Newbuilds

Kongsberg Maritime inform it has been contracted to deliver substantial technology packages for ten new pipelaying vessels ordered by Brazilian multinational energy corporation, Petrobras. In contracts valued approx. NOK 118 Million, the scope of supply includes Kongsberg Maritime's leading offshore vessel technology including Dynamic Positioning (DP), position reference systems, propulsion control and automation. Six 550-tonne laying tension capacity pipelayers will be built at IHC Merwede in The Netherlands for delivery in 2015 and 2016.

Kongsberg Maritime has been chosen to deliver substantial technology packages for ten new pipelaying vessels ordered by Brazilian multinational energy corporation, Petrobras. NOK 118 Million, the scope of supply includes Kongsberg Maritime’s offshore vessel technology including Dynamic Positioning (DP), position reference systems, propulsion control and automation. Six 550-tonne laying tension capacity pipelayers will be built at IHC Merwede in The Netherlands for delivery in 2015 and 2016. Three of the vessels, for Subsea 7, are identical designs to the recently launched ‘Seven Waves’, and will feature the same K-POS DP22 dual redundant DP system including HiPAP acoustic positioning system and other position reference systems from Kongsberg Maritime.

IHC Merwede named and launched the pipelaying vessel Sapura Diamante in a ceremony at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The naming of the innovative offshore vessel was carried out by Christina Lucia Duarte Pinho, the Executive Manager of Petrobras E&P Service. IHC Merwede Reveals Healthy Profit Margin

IHC Merwede has revealed a healthy net profit margin of 4.1% in 2012 and a positive sales forecast for the year ahead. The company develops and builds vessels, equipment and life-cycle support services for the dredging, mining and offshore industries, which have been performing well – despite the global economic situation and the knock-on effect for the maritime industry. In 2012, IHC Merwede reached a revenue of €895 million and a net profit of €37 million. After the exceptional years of 2010 and 2011, the revenue and profitability were lower last year.

Seadrill announces favourable first quarter 2013 financial results. •    Seadrill completes the sale of 18 tender rigs to SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd. As of March 31, 2013, cash and cash equivalents were US$361 million, an increase of US$43 million compared to the previous quarter. Net cash from operating activities for the period was US$423 million and net cash used in investing activities for the same period was US$1,074 million, primarily related to additional payments for newbuilds and the acquisition of the Songa Eclipse.

Offshore Brazil PLSV's: Huge Petrobas Contract for SNM

Seadrill & SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad joint entity Sapura Navegação Marítima S.A., Brazil (SNM) awarded US$2.7-billion Petrobas contract to charter & operated 3 newbuild Pipe Laying Support Vessels (PLSV's). The contract is for a period of eight years with an extension option for an additional eight years and is expected to commence by the second quarter of 2016. Total revenue potential for the contract is expected to be US$2.7 billion. The three vessels will be constructed in Holland with IHC Caland and will have the same specifications as SNM's existing orders with the yard.

IHC Merwede to Build Six Pipelaying Vessels for €1 Billion

IHC Merwede’s Offshore division secured orders worth over €1 billion for the design, engineering and construction of a total of six pipelaying vessels. The agreements for these six ships have been signed with Subsea 7 and Seabras Sapura, the partnership between SapuraKencana and Seadrill. IHC Merwede will supply three fully integrated pipelaying vessels to Seabras Sapura. These will include the complete pipelaying spreads, which comprise of a twin-tensioner tilting lay tower, two below-deck baskets and support equipment for the loading, spooling and routing of products. The integrated automation system, full electrical installation and electrical machinery package will also be designed and delivered by IHC Merwede.
