Aker Arctic CEO Suojanen to Step Down

Bruun Takes the Helm at KVH Industries

KVH Industries, Inc., announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Brent C. Bruun as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board. Massport Board Appoints New CEO

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) picked its port director, Lisa Wieland, to be its next Chief Executive Officer(CEO), bypassing the other finalist, a member of the city's power elite, for one of the most influential public-sector jobs in the state.Board of Directors voted to offer Wieland the position of CEO and Executive Director for a five-year term. Contract negotiations will occur at a later date.The search firm Isaacson, Miller sought a diverse candidate pool for the position and more than 100 applications were received. Members of the Board’s Preliminary Screening Committee interviewed 10 semifinalists, of which five were women and three were people of color.

Seaspan CEO Gerry Wang to Retire

Seaspan Corporation announced that Gerry Wang, its Chief Executive Officer, Co-Chairman and Co-Founder, will retire from Seaspan effective December 31, 2017 to focus on family business investments and his ongoing charitable efforts. In order to facilitate an orderly transition, Wang will continue in his current role as CEO until the earlier of when a permanent CEO is identified or December 31, 2017, and will continue to serve on Seaspan's Board until the end of the year. Patrick Verhoeven to Leave ECSA for IAPH

Capsized Chinese Ship: Chance of Survivors Slim

Huge cranes righted the Eastern Star, the capsized Chinese cruise ship, but still submerged in water. The next step would be to lift it. Authorities said they would search every cabin, the official news agency Xinhua reported. The death toll from the cruise ship that capsized on the Yangtze River has climbed to 82, state media said, as authorities began righting the vessel and said there was no chance of finding anyone else alive. Xu Chengguang, a spokesperson with the Ministry of Transport, said at a press conference on Thursday night that chances of finding more survivors are fading. "Generally speaking, there is no chance of more survivors," he said, adding that it was time to start operation to right the ship, which will speed up the search process.

Clarksons Chairman to Step Down

Clarksons say that Philip Green has decided to step down as chairman of Clarksons in order to focus on his other responsibilities. His resignation from the board will take effect from the AGM on 9 May. Bob Benton, chairman until last year, will remain a non- executive board member and assume the role of interim Chairman with effect from the next Board meeting on 6 March 2014. Since Philip's appointment early last year he has taken on a number of new roles including chairman-designate of Williams & Glyn, steering its IPO process, and chairman designate of Carillion plc.

Human Remains Recovered Following Costa Concordia Parbuckling

The Italian Civil Protection announced that human remains have been found by divers from the public order services as part of the search process following the parbuckling operation. DNA testing will be made for confirmation that the remains belong to the two missing victims of the Concordia shipwreck. Cal Maritime Presidential Search Committee to Hold First Meeting

The California State University Board of Trustees will begin the search next month for a new president of the California Maritime Academy to succeed  President William B. Eisenhardt, who is retiring after serving as president of the university since 2001. The first meeting of the search committee will be held in an open forum from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 7 at the Rizza Auditorium on the Cal Maritime campus, followed by a closed meeting of the committee at 1 p.m. This is the only meeting of the committee that is an open meeting.
