SENER Group announced it has appointed a new president and new CEO to usher in a new leadership phase at the Spanish-based engineering company. Andrés Sendagorta has been named President of the SENER Group, and Jorge Sendagorta Cudós its new CEO.Sendagorta, hitherto Vice President of SENER, takes over from Jorge Sendagorta, who will continue to be linked to the SENER Group as its Honorary President.Andrés Sendagorta holds a diploma in General Management from the Institute for Higher Business Studies IESE (Universidad de Navarra, Spain).

Spanish engineering and technology group SENER has appointed Alvaro Lorente, former Operations Manager in the energy division as Managing Director.He graduated in Industrial Engineering from the Pontificia Comillas University (ICAI), majoring in Electrical Engineering, and joined SENER in 1991. The SENER Group division in Shanghai has presented the FORAN System in the Dalian Ocean University (DOU) in China on October 28. Invited by the DOU, the Technical Consultant Zhi Jiang, from SENER´s office in Shanghai, gave the lecture ‘3D Ship Digital Design with FORAN System’ about the outfitting design with FORAN, one of its main design disciplines. More than 40 students from the School of Navigation and Naval Architecture of DOU have attended the lecture with great interest in FORAN.

Engineering and technology group SENER has appointed Manuel Jiménez as the new Financial and Administrative Director of SENER’s Engineering and Construction Division, replacing José Luis Anzola, who has held the position of Corporate Chief Financial Officer of the SENER Group since 2015. Jiménez holds a degree in Economics and Business Science, specializing in Business Administration, from the University of Seville and has 15 years of professional experience developed in different positions within the Abengoa Group.

The SENER Group division in Shanghai held a 50th anniversary celebration of FORAN system where it also presented its new version V80. More than 100 attendees from 40 companies including shipyards, design offices, classification societies, universities and partners attended the event. Turnover increased by 8 percent to reach 1.315 billion Euros, with net profit rising by 66 percent to reach 57.8 million Euros. The engineering and technology group SENER ended 2014 with a turnover of 1,315.7 billion Euros; an increase of 8.02 percent over the previous year. The group’s operating result came to 73.3 million Euros, representing an increase of 54.7 percent compared to 2013, and the holding company’s profit reached 57.8 million Euros (an increase of 66.1 percent). The number of people working at SENER has remained almost constant at 5,541 (a decrease of 0.52 percent).

The engineering and technology group SENER has celebrated the inauguration of its facilities in Manchester, the group’s base for engineering and construction in the United Kingdom, which have been fully operational since 2014. The inauguration event was held May 8 and was attended by local authorities, including City Mayor Ian Stewart and representatives from key clients such as BAE Systems and Babcock. The guests were received on behalf of SENER by its Marine General Manager, Rafael de Góngora, and the Manager of its Marine office in Manchester, Fernando Sánchez.

SENER opened an Engineering and Construction division in Manchester to reinforce its presence in the United Kingdom. The group already has work sites set up in the UK and it maintains a close 25-year relationship with Rolls Royce through ITP, a leader in the global market for industrial and aeronautical engines in which SENER (53.125%) and Rolls Royce (46.875%) are the two shareholders. The new office will lend the support needed for ongoing projects such as the construction of two Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy.

The SENER Engineering and Technology Group closed the 2013 financial year with an operating revenue of €1.218 billion, representing a growth of 7.6% on the previous year. The number of people working at SENER reached 5,570, an increase of 3.8%, and R&D investment was €71.7 million, representing 5.8% of the group's revenue. These figures position SENER as Spain's leading multidisciplinary engineering group in terms of R&D and the development of technologically-differentiated international projects.

Enrique de Sendagorta Aramburu, Honorary President and founder of the engineering and technology group SENER and President of the SENER Foundation, was presented with the Kingdom of Spain Entrepreneurial Career Award by King Juan Carlos I on Wednesday, June 4. The engineering and technology group SENER has been awarded in The European Energy Awards 2013 as Engineering Company of the Year. The technology group has more than 5,500 professionals across 50 offices globally. SENER received this award for innovative projects such as the Gemasolar solar thermal plant.
