MAN Diesel & Turbo SE takes Dr. Uwe Lauber on Board

Dr. Uwe Lauber (47) has been appointed to the Executive Board of MAN Diesel & Turbo SE effective as of 1 October 2014. Dr. Lauber has worked successfully in various management positions within the company since 2000. In his new role he will lead the entire sales and after sales activities of the company from Augsburg. The product portfolio of MAN Diesel & Turbo includes marine propulsion systems as well as engine-based power plants and turbomachinery. “With Dr. Lauber’s appointment to the Executive Board, we anticipate further expansion of worldwide sales across the entire product portfolio of the company,” said Dr. Georg Pachta-Reyhofen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of MAN Diesel & Turbo and CEO of MAN SE. SMM 2014 Witnesses Record Turnout

SMM was another full success. With more than 2,100 exhibitors from all around the world, including 150 first-timers, with 50,000 industry visitors and roughly 90,000 square metres of exhibition space, SMM has demonstrated once again what it means to be the leading international trade fair of the maritime industry. After four days brimming with activity, the 26th SMM came to a close today. "We set new records this year," said Bernd Aufderheide, CEO and President of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH. SMM 2014 Promises to be ‘Very Special’

MAN to Display New Offerings at SMM

Inspired by the motto "The Power of Shipping", MAN Diesel & Turbo will showcase its products and services at the SMM international maritime trade fair in Hamburg next week. New Carnival Cruise Ship to be Powered by MAN Diesel & Turbo

MAN Diesel & Turbo has won an order from Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines to supply five medium-speed 48/60CR engines to power its next-generation diesel-electric propulsion cruise liner which is to be built by Fincantieri. With a gross tonnage of about 133,500 tons and a passenger capacity of about 5,000, the ship will be the largest vessel in the Carnival Cruise Lines' fleet. Its construction represents the introduction of a brand new class of ship that will be powered by five MAN Tier-II-type engines – 2 × 14V48/60CR + 3 × 8L48/60CR types – capable of delivering 62,400 kW.

MAN Diesel & Turbo has received an order from the US-based cruise liner company Norwegian Cruise Line for the maintenance of the engines on nine of the fleet’s cruise liners.The service agreement runs for four years and is being handled by the MAN PrimeServ service office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. Besides the maintenance work it also covers the supply of spare parts. During the term of the agreement, two further Norwegian cruise ships will be put into service which will then also be incorporated into the contract.The order is worth US$ 30 million.

MAN Signs Contract with COSCO

MAN PrimeServ Shanghai has signed two significant maintenance contracts with COSCO, the state-owned Chinese shipping group, during the Marintec 2011 maritime exhibition in Shanghai. Collectively, the contracts add up to a value of more than Euro 4 million. The first contract covers the retrofit of 32 vessels from the COSCO Bulk Carrier fleet with slide-fuel valves. It also includes the retrofit of 7 + 6 vessels with Alpha Lubricators, giving a cumulative value of more than Euro 2 million.

Kawasaki Celebrates Century in Power

Japanese licensee marks milestone in diesel engine manufacture Kawasaki Heavy Industry (KHI) has celebrated the 100th anniversary of its engine-manufacturing license with MAN Diesel & Turbo. Spread over four days, the celebrations were capped with a technical event in Kobe featuring over 140 attendees. Dr Stephan Timmermann, member of MAN Diesel & Turbo’s Executive Board, spoke of the special relationship between his company and its longest prevailing licensee. Dr Timmermann pointed to the uniqueness of the cooperation in the world of licensing, due to other such often developing in different directions, or that technology losing relevance.

PrimeServ Centre on Hamburg's Hachmannkai Revamped

MAN Diesel & Turbo SE, the global manufacturer of large diesel engines and turbo machinery based in Augsburg, has revamped and modernised its service centre on Hamburg's Hachmannkai. The service centre is one of the major ports of call on the German coast for ships requiring maintenance and repair. With the complete overhaul of the premises, which will be officially opened on 22nd March 2011, MAN Diesel & Turbo is investing in expanding and increasing the efficiency of its services for marine and power plant engines marketed under the MAN | PrimeServ brand.

PrimeServ Las Palmas Opens For Business

PrimeServ Las Palmas held its official opening at the beginning of October 2010 in front of an audience from the Canary Islands, the Spanish mainland, MAN Diesel & Turbo’s power-plant and marine sectors, and which included colleagues from around Europe. PrimeServ Las Palmas has de facto been open for business since the beginning of 2010, and transported guests to its new facilities aboard a catamaran powered by MAN engines to demonstrate how customers can conveniently berth vessels right in front of its premises. MAN Diesel & Turbo Signs License Agreement at SMM

MAN Diesel & Turbo has signed a four-stroke license agreement with Rong An Power Machinery, a Chinese marine engine manufacturer. Dr. Stephan Timmermann, Executive Board Member MAN Diesel & Turbo, and David Deng, President Rong An, signed the new agreement on behalf of their respective companies on 7 September 2010 in a ceremony at MAN Diesel & Turbo’s stand at the SMM international marine trade fair in Hamburg. Rong An previously signed a two-stroke license agreement with MAN Diesel & Turbo in September 2008.

MAN Diesel to Feature High-Speed Engines

MAN Nutzfahrzeuge will transfer part of its business involving high-speed engines to the group’s sister company, MAN Diesel. With effect from 1 January 2010, these activities will be integrated into MAN Diesel to form a Business Unit High Speed. The new Business Unit will offer diesel and gas engines in a performance range from 70 to 1,400 kW used in yachts, smaller working ships, locomotives and in decentralised energy supplies, for instance as emergency gensets. Samuelsson to Head MAN B&W Diesel AG

The supervisory board of MAN B&W Diesel AG, a subsidiary of MAN AG, Munich, has appointed Håkan Samuelsson as its new chairman, effective January 1, 2005. In this position he will follow Dr. Rudolf Rupprecht who resigns as chairman as of December 31, 2004. Samuelsson will also act as “working chairman” as of February 2005 and take over for the time being the responsibilities for the MAN B&W Diesel Group’s overall policies and strategies. Schulte Retires from MAN B&W

After 32 years of service with MAN, Dr. Hans-J. Schulte, Member of the Executive Board of MAN AG (Munich) and Chairman of the MAN B&W Diesel Executive Board, officially retired from professional life today. At the farewell celebration attended by 150 guests, Håkan Samuelsson, Chairman of the Executive Board of MAN AG and Chairman of MAN B&W Diesel AG’s Supervisory Board emphasised: “Thanks to his international experience and his extensive knowledge of the diesel engine markets worldwide, Dr. Schulte has always been able to give fresh impetus to the Executive Board of the MAN Group and has pushed the diesel engine division decisively forward.” At the end of January, Dr. Hans-J. Schulte will retire from professional life.

Reinert Joins MAN B&W Board

Large engine manufacturer MAN B&W Diesel AG of Augsburg is expanding its Executive Board. The company’s Supervisory Board has appointed Tage Reinert as a member of the Executive Board responsible for controlling. 1 September 2005 at the latest. The other members of the company’s Executive Board include the Chairman of the Executive Board of MAN AG, Håkan Samuelsson, who serves as working chairman, Fritz Pape as deputy chairman, Dr. Stefan Spindler, Dr. Peter Sunn Pedersen and Dr. Stephan Timmermann. Tage Reinert comes to the company from the Danish mobile telephone operator Sonofon in Copenhagen, where he served as Executive Vice-President and CFO from 1999 and more recently held the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a period of one year.
