IRClass Enhances Asia Pacific Presence

IRClass Wins ASW Corvettes for Indian Navy

The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has won an order for providing classification services for a series of 8 Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvettes to be constructed for the Indian Navy. The order was awarded under competitive bidding in which other classification societies participated, after qualifying stringent technical requirements.The ships are to be constructed at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd, Kolkata and will be built to IRClass’ Naval Rules 2015.These ships are designed for combating threats posed by submarines and special underwater craft…

IRClass Taps opportunities in Greece

Since opening its Greek office in 2010, the Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has made inroads into the Greek shipping market, said a press release from the company.Based in Piraeus, the IRClass office has been actively engaged with Greek shipyards and owners to offer its full range of classification services.It has recently certified three Ro-Ro vessels in Greece for the Theodoropoulos shipyard and has also taken several other vessels into Class.Currently, IRClass is working on seeking authorisation from Greek maritime authorities to survey and certify all types of Greek flagged vessels, it said.“The Greek maritime market is important to IRClass and our expansion strategy is to focus our services in this region due to the large concentration of ship owners.

IRClass Appointed RO for Iran; opens office in Tehran

Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has received authorisation as a Recognised Organisation from Iran’s maritime administration – Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO). Strengthening its presence further in the Middle East, IRClass has also set up an office in Tehran to offer its services to the Iranian maritime sector. This move is the latest in a series of steps taken by IRClass to enhance its global footprint. Senior Appointments at IRClass

In a move to strengthen its senior management structure, The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has made significant changes at its top level. As a part of its organizational restructuring exercise, IRClass has decided to realign the position of Chairman and Managing Director and create two new senior positions. Mr. Arun Sharma, who is now the Executive Chairman, will focus on matters related to broader policy, overall strategy and mentoring. IRS completes Well Stimulation Vessel Conversion

IRClass, a leading Classification Society and member of IACS, has recently completed the survey and certification of ‘Greatship Ramya’, during its conversion from an Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV) to a Well Stimulation Vessel for Schlumberger under its Single Class. The vessel is now deployed with an Indian Oil Major in the offshore sector. Well Stimulation Vessels are one of the most critical ship types in offshore segment with respect to complexity of processes and equipment reliability as they handle hazardous chemicals under very high pressures (close to 20,000 Psi) and supply/receive these fluids to& from offshore Oil Wells. IR Class Launches Advisory Committee

IRClass (Indian Register of Shipping) has established a senior level advisory committee in the United Arab Emirates in an effort to increase activity and foster business links in the region. The committee comprises of 11 senior representatives from the shipping industry in UAE and is headed by Leonard B Culas, who is the MD of the Transworld Group based in Dubai. The committee will meet on a half yearly basis in order to give high level strategic advice to IRS on how the organization can deepen and strengthen its business links and activities in UAE.
