PSA, SATS Mull Multimodal Transport Hub in Singapore

Port and terminal operator PSA International and ground handler and in-flight caterer  SATS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in seamlessly connecting their sea and air transport services, with the goal of improving supply chain efficiency and boosting Singapore’s status as a multimodal transport hub.Under the MoU, PSA and SATS will work together on initiatives such as “yard-to-port” data linkages, network extensions between both companies, and enhanced track-and-trace capabilities.

HHLA's Earnings Up in Q1 2019

German terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) revenue increases by 10.3 % in the first quarter of 2019, despite a challenging market environment, said the company.Container throughput increased slightly, partly due to the successful integration of the Estonian terminal operator HHLA TK Estonia last year. Extremely positive performance in container transport and property management led to a revenue of € 347.6 million (+ 10.3 %).The operating result (EBIT) was far above the level of last year, increasing by € 11.8 million or 24.5 % to € 59.7 million.

MSC Hikes Stake in Terminal Investment

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, the world's second-largest shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity, SA announced that it is increasing its majority stake in the container terminal operator Terminal Investment Ltd (TiL) to 60%, following a deal with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and other co-investors.MSC also welcomes a new partner to the shareholding of TiL after Global Investment Corporation (GIP), a Singaporean Sovereign Wealth Fund, acquired a 10% stake in TiL from GIP and other existing co-investors.New York-based GIP…

OOIL Sells Long Beach Terminal for $1.8bln

Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas International Ltd. (OOIL) said that it will sell Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) to a consortium led by Australia’s Macquarie Group for $1.78 billion.OOIL, which is majority-owned by Cosco Shipping Holdings, was the terminal operator under a lease agreement with the port. It has entered into a Sale and Purchase Agreement to sell 100% of LBCT  to the consortium led by Macquarie Infrastructure Partners (MIP). Equipment For Deepwater Berth Delivered at NUTEP

A cargo of handling equipment for NUTEP terminal in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk  was successfully delivered on board M/V Zhen Hua 19 to the Port of Novorossiysk.The equipment was supplied by Chinese producer ZPMC. The shipment include 3 STS cranes, 4 RTGs and 2 reachstackers. The terminal operator said the equipment is intended for the new deep-water Berth No. 38 built by NUTEP in 2019.The contracts for the supply of the three STS and four RTG were signed in June 2017; the reach stackers were ordered in January 2019.

DP World, SMS Launch Boxbay

Global ports operator DP World and industrial engineering firm SMS Group announced "Boxbay", a new and 'smart' shipping container storage system that aims to change the way that containers are handled in ports.The patented design and rack structure of the system creates unique advantages with containers stored up to eleven stories high, delivering the capacity of a conventional terminal in a third of the surface area.By being fully automated it has direct access to each container, eliminating unpaid and unproductive reshuffling.

HHLA Strengthens Intermodal Network

Metrans AS, a subsidiary of terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has ordered ten Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility Czech Republic.The locomotives will be built at Siemens Mobility’s factory in Munich-Allach, and deliveries are scheduled from the end of 2019 until spring 2020. The locomotives will be operated in cross-border freight service in Central and Eastern European countries."It is our pleasure to expand the Metrans vehicle fleet by ten multisystem Vectron locomotives from Siemens Mobility.

Aus Terminal Selects Kalmar Straddle Carriers

The cargo-handling solutions provider Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is to supply a total of 12 diesel-electric straddle carriers to leading Australian terminal operator Patrick Terminals.The order, which comprises eight automated Kalmar AutoStrad(TM) units and four manually operated Kalmar Straddle Carriers, was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q1 order intake. Delivery of the machines is scheduled to be completed during Q2 of 2020.Patrick Terminals is Australia's leading container terminal operator, handling over three million TEU annually.

Oakland Goes Hybrid for Cleaner Port Ops

In the latest development, the Port of Oakland announced that its largest marine terminal is converting 13 diesel-powered yard cranes to hybrid power. The result is expected to be an annual 45-ton reduction in diesel-related air pollutants.The Port said the first hybrid crane began service March 5 at Oakland International Container Terminal. Polish LNG Terminal Gets EU Grant

Poland’s LNG import terminal in Świnoujście will receive a EUR128mln grant from from the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund to expand its regasification capacity.The European Commission said in a notification that it has approved plans to support the increase of the regasification capacity, and the development of additional functionalities of the LNG terminal in Poland.The plans were approved under EU State aid rules and would see the terminal capacity increase…

JAXPORT Receives Largest Ever Box Ship

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) and terminal operator SSA Atlantic on Monday afternoon welcomed the largest container ship to ever visit Jacksonville.JAXPORT set a new port record today with the arrival of the ZIM vessel Cape Sounio, the largest container ship to ever call Jacksonville, claimed a press release.The 11,000-TEU (container) vessel is operated by ZIM on a service offered by the 2M alliance. Kalmar Backs DP World Ecuador Terminal Project

Kalmar, a provider of lifting solutions and part of Cargotec, has announced a further extension of its collaboration with world-leading global terminal operator DP World.A new fleet of Kalmar mobile equipment - 33 terminal tractors, three empty container handlers, three reachstackers and one forklift - will ensure safe and efficient operations at DP World's new deep-water port at Posorja in Ecuador. Eurogate Container Volumes Stable in 2018

Despite the persistently challenging market environment, German terminal operator Eurogate managed to close the 2018 financial year with stable container handling volumes.In 2018, the Bremen-based group managed to handle a total of 14.1 million TEUs at its twelve locations in and around Europe.The volume of intermodal container transports increased by 2.8 per cent to around 1.05 million TEUs.At the Eurogate Group’s five German terminals, the previous year’s handling figures were confirmed.

German port operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) increased its Group revenue by 3 percent to EUR 1.29 billion in the 2018 financial year (previous year: EUR 1.25 billion). Elengy, a unit of the French energy company and LNG player Engie, reported record activities at its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals during 2018.The French LNG operator said in a press release thatits Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal also reached a number of milestones during the year.
