Trident Maritime Systems Divests UK Subsidiary
Trident Maritime Systems, a maritime systems and solutions provider and portfolio company of J.F. Lehman & Company (JFLCO), has announced the divestiture of Trident Maritime Systems UK Limited and its subsidiaries, including Aeronautical & General Instruments Limited (AGI).The companies are being taken on by DC Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on middle market government and engineering companies.AGI is a provider of highly engineered electronic systems that support landing, navigation, communications and other mission-critical naval applications.
TAI Engineers Appoints New Chief
Marine solutions company TAI Engineers, part of S&B, has welcomed Matt Garner as its new president.Garner succeeds Bill Krewsky, who will retire in September.He brings more than 28 years of executive leadership and technical expertise in maritime technology and defense systems.Most recently, he served as Vice President of Engineering at Trident Maritime Systems, where he led global engineering teams across four countries.His career includes senior leadership roles at Gibbs & Cox and nearly two decades with the U.S.
Maersk Tests Containerized Battery System
Danish shipping giant Maersk will install a containerized 600 kWh marine battery system on board the 4,500 TEU Maersk Cape Town in December 2019 to improve vessel performance and reliability while reducing CO2 emissions.“This trial will provide a greater understanding of energy storage that will support Maersk in moving towards further electrification of its fleet and port terminals. Maersk will continue to facilitate, test, and develop low-carbon solutions on our journey to become carbon neutral by 2050,” explains Søren Toft, Maersk COO.Propelling marine vessels with battery power alone is still years away from being a technically- and economically viable option.
RH Taps Bannerman to Head Americas
Effective April 1, 2018, Radio Holland Group appointed Philip Bannerman as Regional Director Americas. Bannerman will be based at the RH regional head office in Houston and will be responsible for all offices and activities of Radio Holland in the Americas region, being USA, Canada, Curaçao, Panama, Brazil and Trinidad & Tobago. Philip Bannerman is a senior business development executive with 20 years in the international maritime, cruise and energy industries. He holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Glasgow University.
Fincantieri to Adapt FREMM Frigate for US Navy
Shipbuilder Fincantieri Marine Group has announced further details on its plans to adapt its FREMM frigate, already in service for the Italian Navy since 2012, to design the U.S. Navy’s new guided-missile frigate, FFG(X). The Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, today announced the appointment of 10 Board Members to the Naval Shipbuilding Advisory Board, chaired by Professor Donald Winter. “The establishment of the Advisory Board is an important milestone in the Government’s naval shipbuilding strategy, ensuring expert, independent advice to Government on all aspects of this historical national endeavour,” Minister Pyne said. Trident to Acquire Callenberg
Trident Maritime Systems (Trident), a portfolio company of J.F. Lehman & Company (JFLCO), signed a definitive agreement to acquire Callenberg Technology Group (Callenberg) from Wilhelmsen Maritime Services AS. Callenberg designs, assembles, integrates, and supports HVAC, electrical energy management, and insulation systems for commercial and government vessels around the world. It is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden and employs approximately 900 employees in 14 countries. Trident is an independent provider of turnkey marine joiner, distributed, electro-mechanical, and power, propulsion and control systems and solutions for government and commercial customers both in the U.S. and internationally. Completion of the sale is expected to take place later in 2016.
Trident Maritime Systems to Acquire Callenberg Technology Group
Wilhelmsen Maritime Services AS (WMS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA, said it has signed an agreement whereby technology subsidiary Callenberg Technology Group will be acquired by Trident Maritime Systems. "We have in Trident and their principal, J. F. Lehman & Company, found a strong new owner of Callenberg. Having a new owner that operates within the same technology areas creates a perfect environment for employees, customers and future growth of Callenberg with Trident," said Dag Schjerven, president and CEO of WMS.
