Rolls-Royce and MAN Energy Solutions signed an agreement for a strategic partnership that will see MAN's PBST brand distribute mtu turbochargers. "With this cooperation, we are combining our competencies - on the one hand, PBST's global sales structure for turbochargers and, on the other hand, Rolls-Royce's latest high-efficiency mtu turbocharger technology for high-speed diesel and gas engines," explains Andreas Schell, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems. The turbochargers developed and produced in-house by Rolls-Royce Power Systems will be made available in additional markets.

MAN Mulls Liquid Hydrogen Storage

German-based power generator MAN Energy Solutions is joining a partnership aimed at expanding hydrogen storage systems based on the Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) technology.MAN has signed on to a cooperative agreement with Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies and Frames Group B.V. Together they will design and build large-scale hydrogen storage systems.Developed by Hydrogenious the LOHC technology uses heat transfer oil as a carrier for hydrogen, thus allowing it to be stored under ambient conditions. MAN ES Invests in Hydrogen

MAN Energy Solutions is acquiring 40 percent of the shares of the electrolysis technology company H-TEC SYSTEMS. A contract confirming the partial acquisition was signed in Augsburg by Dr. Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Energy Solutions, and Ove Petersen and Heinrich Gärtner, executive managers of the GP JOULE Group. The contract also makes provisions for a majority or complete takeover of H-TEC SYSTEMS at a later date. The company will continue to be independently represented on the market with no change in the level of commitment to its customers.

MAN’s Subsea Compressors Reach Field Proven Status

Both subsea compression trains at Statoil’s Åsgard field have achieved more than 25,000 operation hours with an availability close to 100 percent. The world’s first subsea gas compression facility features two MAN Diesel & Turbo HOFIM motor-compressor units. MAN Diesel & Turbo to Buy 40% Stake in Aspin Kemp

MAN Diesel & Turbo said it has contractually agreed to acquire a 40 percent participation in Aspin Kemp & Associates (AKA), a Canadian company specializing in power supply, energy management and drive systems for marine applications. Jointly, the companies will offer turnkey integrated power, propulsion and automation solutions. AKA co-founder Jason Aspin will remain with the company as Managing Director and shareholder, while the other founding partner, Neale Kemp will sell his shares in AKA and retire from active business operations. MAN Diesel & Turbo said the investment is part of its strategic development program, "Basecamp 3000+", launched in 2016.

MAN Diesel & Turbo, MES Grow Partnership

A new cooperation agreement will intensify existing joint business activities between longstanding partners MAN Diesel & Turbo and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES). The agreement was signed by Takao Tanaka, President & CEO of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, and Dr. Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo. “Together, we will offer a solution portfolio that is unique in today’s market,” said Dr. Lauber. Stena Line Signs Up for MAN Online Service

MAN Diesel & Turbo recently signed a contract with Stena Line to provide its online service to two vessels. The Stena Hollandica and Stena Britannica are both conventional passenger-and-vehicle superferries that sail the daily route between the Hook of Holland and Harwich and are each powered by 4 × MAN 48/60CR engines. Dan Sten Olsson, CEO and owner of the Stena Sphere, and Bjarne Koitrand, Stena Line Technical Director, visited Augsburg, Germany to meet MAN Diesel & Turbo’s Dr Uwe Lauber, CEO, and Wayne Jones, Chief Sales Officer and agree the new deal.

MAN, CSIC Extend Two-stroke Agreement

Signed at a ceremony in Beijing on February 3, 2015, the agreement runs for the next 10 years and covers the production of low-speed engines at CSIC affiliates: Dalian Marine Diesel Co., Ltd (DMD), Yichang Marine Diesel Engine Co., Ltd (YMD), Qingdao Haixi Marine Diesel Co., Ltd (QMD). MAN & Statoil Sign Turbo-machinery Agreements

MAN Diesel & Turbo, Switzerland, signs to provide Norway's Statoil with new subsea compressor equipment & maintenance services. The Zurich-based MAN Diesel & Turbo Schweiz AG and Statoil have followed a joint subsea compressor qualification programme since 2005. In early 2011 Aker Solutions ASA, Statoil’s main contractor for the Asgard subsea project, awarded a contract to MAN to build the world's first subsea compressors for gas production on the sea floor. MV Werften Selects MAN Engines for New Cruise Ships

MAN Diesel & Turbo and MV Werften have concluded a contract to equip two Global Class cruise ships for Star Cruises. With a registered tonnage (RT) of 200,000 tons each, the ships will be some of the largest on the market and will each be equipped with six type 48/60CR engines with a combined output of 96,000 kW. The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2020 and 2021. The customer and recipient of these ocean-going giants, which will operate in China and all over Asia, is the Star Cruises brand of Genting Hong Kong.

MAN D&T Sells 60,000th Turbocharger

MAN Diesel & Turbo marked the sale of its 60,000th turbocharger after 80 years of turbocharger business, during the Marintec 2015 marine trade fair in Shanghai, by making a presentation to turbocharger customer, China Merchants Energy Shipping Co.
