All-Women Crew Tarini Enters Cape Town, South Africa
India's INSV Tarini entered Cape Town (South Africa) today during it’s maiden voyage to circumnavigate the globe. This is the first-ever Indian circumnavigation of the globe by an all-women crew. The vessel is skippered by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi, and the crew comprises Lieutenant Commanders Pratibha Jamwal, P Swathi, and Lieutenants S Vijaya Devi, B Aishwarya and Payal Gupta. Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, defence minister had flagged-off INSV Tarini from Goa on 10 September 17. The vessel has covered 17500 Nautical miles from Goa, crossing the Equator on 25 September 17, Cape Leeuwin on 09 November 17 and Cape Horn on 19 January 18.

Indian vessel INSV Tarini entered Port Stanley, (Falkland islands on January 22, 2018 during it’s maiden voyage to circumnavigate the globe. This is the first-ever Indian circumnavigation of the globe by an all-women crew. The vessel is skippered by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi, and the crew comprises Lieutenant Commanders Pratibha Jamwal, P Swathi, and Lieutenants S Vijaya Devi, B Aishwarya and Payal Gupta. All-women Crew Tarini Departs From Lyttelton
The Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini left Lyttelton on 12 December 2017 for its onward journey to Port Stanley (Falklands). INSV Tarini had arrived at Lyttelton on 29 November 2017 after completion of second leg of its maiden voyage to circumnavigate the globe. This historic circumnavigation attempt by an all-women crew is being led by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi, and the crew comprises Lieutenant Commanders Pratibha Jamwal, P Swathi, and Lieutenants S Vijaya Devi, B Aishwarya and Payal Gupta. The crew of INSV Tarini was officially welcomed to Lyttelton by Mr Andrew Turner, Deputy Mayor of Christchurch on 29 November 2017. The crew was also welcomed in the traditional Maori culture by members of the community.

INSV Tarini entered Fremantle, Australia on 23 October 2017 as part of it’s maiden voyage to circumnavigate the globe. Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, Indian Defence Minister, had flagged-off INSV Tarini from Goa on 10 September 2017. The vessel has covered about 4,800 nautical miles since flagging off and crossed the Equator on 25 September 2017 and the Tropic of Capricorn on 06 October 2017. This is the first-ever Indian circumnavigation of the globe by all-women crew. Indian PM Meets All WOmen Crew of Navika Sagar Parikrama
Six women officers of the Indian Navy, who are due to circumnavigate the globe on the sailing vessel, INSV Tarini, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is the first-ever Indian circumnavigation of the globe by an all-women crew. They will begin their voyage later this month from Goa, and expect to return to Goa in March 2018, after completing the circumnavigation. "Navika Sagar Parikrama is a project wherein a team of women officers of the Indian Navy would circumnavigate the globe on an Indian-built sail boat INSV Tarini," explained a government statement. The project is considered essential towards promoting Ocean Sailing activities in the Navy while depicting Government of India’s thrust for ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women Power).
Indian Navy Ship with All-Woman Crew Visits Mauritius
The Indian Navy's sailing vessel INSV Tarini, with an all-woman crew, visited Port Louis harbour in Mauritius as part efforts by the two countries to ramp up maritime security cooperation. Tarini, which inducted in the Indian Navy in Feb 2017, is the sister Vessel of Indian Navy's first sailing Vessel INSV Mhadei, that has numerous accomplishments to her name. INSV Tarini is 55 feet in length and built in India in line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Indian Navy, fructified by M/s Aquarius Shipyard, Goa. The Vessel is skippered by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi (a Naval Architect) and the all-women Naval officers crew comprising Lieutenant Commander Pratibha Jamwal, Lieutenant P Swathi, Lieutenant Vijaya Devi, Lieutenant Payal Gupta and Lieutenant B Aishwarya.
All-Women Crew Indian Navy Ship Enters Chennai Port
The Indian Navy said on Saturday that its sailing vessel Mhadei, having an all-women crew of naval officers, has entered the Chennai Port. The vessel which had left Visakhapatnam on February 9, was scheduled to make stops at Chennai and Kochi ports enroute before reaching her home port at Goa. "This is the first all-women crew to man any ocean-going ship of the Navy," says a statement from Indian Navy. The ship is skippered and crewed by an all-women team of naval officers for first time ever and is back after participating in the International Fleet Review. "All the crew members are volunteers and are driven by their passion for adventure and a love for sailing and the seas," says a naval official.
