Following the purchase of Transas by Wärtsilä, Transas' ubiquitous CEO Frank Coles will depart the newly merged company, finding a spot on top as the CEO of Wallem Group. Brown Named Bureau Veritas Communications Director
Nick Brown has been appointed Bureau Veritas’ new Communications Director, Marine & Offshore Division, the classification society announced. Brown will take up the post from November 2, 2016, replacing Philippe Boisson, who will retire after more than 25 years in the role. Brown joins Bureau Veritas from Lloyd’s Register where he has spent the last nine years, most recently as Head of Brand & External Affairs, Marine & Offshore. He has 25 years of shipping industry experience, starting as a commercial trainee with the Wallem Group in Hong Kong.

AO Shipping Selects Wallem for 2 Newbuilds
AO Shipping has selected Wallem Europe as the managers of its two newbuild I-Star Ultramaxes, which will be delivered in 2015 from Imabari Shipbuilders. Wallem has been managing vessels for AO Shipping since 2009, and with the addition of the I-Star Ultramaxes, from 2015 Wallem will be managing five vessels on behalf of the owner. Wallem Europe Managing Director Ulrich Paulsdorff said the new vessel contracts were an endorsement of the maritime services offered by Wallem in Europe.

Growth in specialist ship management services leads HK-based Wallem Group to open its first ship management & broking operation in Singapore. The move into Singapore comes six months after Wallem formed a ship management joint venture with mainland shipowner Nanjing Tanker in Singapore, reports the 'South China Morning Post). Captain Deepak Honawar, a director of Wallem Shipmanagement, considered that launching in Singapore would provide more space for the company to grow its Hong Kong ship management business. The Liberian Registry has launched a unique Internet-based vessel inspection application based on technology developed by the Wallem Group.
