Harland & Wolff to Restore HMS Quorn Mine-hunter

Harland & Wolff's Appledore site in the UK's southwest has won a £55 million (around $65 million) contract to regenerate a former Royal Navy mine-hunting vessel, HMS Quorn. "On behalf of the Lithuanian Government, the Defence Equipment Sales Authority (DESA) awarded the contract that will see HMS Quorn renovated and restored, bolstering NATO maritime capability in Europe," the UK Ministry of Defence said Thursday."Supporting ambitions to bolster British shipbuilding, laid out in the National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh, the regeneration will support 100 jobs at the south-west shipyard.

First Floating Wind Turbine for Equinor's Hywind Tampen Project Assembled in Norway

The first floating wind turbine for Equinor's 88MW Hywind Tampen floating wind farm in Noway was assembled last week at Wergeland Group's base in Norway, Wergeland shared via social media.Equinor’s Hywind Tampen will be the world’s largest floating offshore wind farm once completed later this year.The turbine assembled at Wergeland's base is the first of eleven to be assembled. ORE Catapult Secures Funding for Five Projects to Drive Forward Maritime Decarbonisation

The UK-based Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult has said it has secured funding for five projects as part of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition, funded by the Department for Transport and delivered in partnership with Innovate UK.Fifty-five projects successfully secured £23m funding as part of the Competition, announced at an event during London International Shipping Week by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.ORE Catapult is either leading or is a consortium partner in five of those projects, totaling £3.3m in funding awarded.

BSEE Investigating Fatal Incident on GoM Platform

BV Approves Braemar’s LNG Containment System

Braemar Technical Services announced that Bureau Veritas (BV) has issued a General Design Approval for the FSP Type B LNG Containment System (FSP). Starting with the General Dynamics NASSCO-patented tank design, for which the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Lloyd’s Register had issued Approval in Principle (AiP) several years prior, Braemar engineered a new and improved containment system that meets the demands of LNG storage in marine, offshore and onshore applications.

Wood Group Wins Subsea Contract Supporting CNOOC

UK-based energy services company Wood Group has been awarded a new contract by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to support the Lingshui 17-2 gas development in the Qiongdongnan basin of the South China Sea. Subsea and flow assurance services will be provided under the contract, which is effective immediately and will be supported by Wood Group’s offices in Perth, Australia and London. An independent review for the development’s subsea production system design and a special study and design for its gas export pipeline will be delivered. Wood Group Bags Alexandroupolis FEED

Wood Group has secured a new front end engineering design (FEED) contract with Gastrade S.A. for the Alexandroupolis Independent Natural Gas System (INGS) offshore Greece. The project, to develop a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving, storage and regasification unit (FSRU), will create a new natural gas gateway to the markets of south eastern and central Europe. Wood Group’s subsea team will perform the design and engineering definition of the Alexandroupolis FSRU and its subsystems which will support the final investment decision for the project, planned for late 2017. Company to Pay $9.5 Mln for Actions Leading to US Gulf Explosion

Wood Group PSN Inc., a Nevada corporation headquartered in Houston, was ordered to pay $9.5 million in two separate cases involving its conduct in the Gulf of Mexico. Specifically, Wood Group PSN was ordered to pay $7 million for falsely reporting over several years that personnel had performed safety inspections on offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico in the Western District of Louisiana, and $1.8 million for negligently discharging oil into the Gulf of Mexico in violation of the Clean Water Act after an explosion on an offshore facility in the Eastern District of Louisiana, announced Acting Assistant Attorney General Jeff Wood of the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana Stephanie A. Wood Group Bags Hibernia Deal

Wood Group has secured a five year contract to provide engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services to the Hibernia platform, offshore Newfoundland, from Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd. (HMDC). The contract will be executed by Wood Group’s Eastern Canada operations, in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador, and has the potential of two additional five year contract extensions. Seqwater, Wood Group Join Forces

Seqwater has selected Wood Group as its partner in a new collaborative contract to maintain the South East Queensland (SEQ) Water Grid in Australia and water supply assets that serve 3.1 million South East Queenslanders. Huge Coke Drums Shipped from Spain to Louisiana

Intermarine, LLC, transporter of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo, said it has transported four coke drums on the MV Ocean Freedom from Gijon, Spain, to New Orleans, La. The cargo was transported for forwarder Agility Project Logistics with end clients Phillips 66 and Wood Group Mustang. The cargo units measure 34.4 x 8 x 8.2 meters and weigh 333 metric tons each. The MV Ocean Freedom (14,360 DWT - 153.8 M LOA – 2 x 400 MT cranes) was selected due to the vessel’s ability to move items via single crane lift and/or tandem lift.

Wood Group Bags Statoil MSA

Wood Group has been awarded an evergreen master services agreement (MSA) by Statoil to support the life cycles of its offshore  and onshore facilities. Work and services covered by the MSA include  engineering studies, detailed engineering, procurement services and management  assistance services. “This MSA reflects Wood Group’s  strong relationship with Statoil,” stated Robin Watson, chief executive. Wood Group has supported Statoil for  many years. Recent work includes four  subsea contracts, support for the Statoil Technical Efficiency Programme (STEP),  and providing maintenance and modification services to four installations on  the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).

Wood Group Develops Advanced Analytics Capability with CeADA

Wood Group today announced that it is collaborating with the Centre for Applied Data Analytics (CeADAR), located at University College Dublin (UCD), to launch a new data analytics capability to deliver significant savings for the energy and industrial sectors. Wood Group Kenny (WGK) will work with CeADAR to develop predictive analytics for deployment particularly in the oil and gas industry. This will initially be targeted at brownfield engineering services and will strengthen WGK's existing services in the area of measured data analysis. By tracking the integrity of system components, the service already delivers significant savings to clients through problem detection and optimization, leading to reduced inspection, intervention and maintenance costs.

Taqa Extends Wood Group Contract

Wood Group has secured a two-year contract extension with TAQA in the North Sea. Wood Group PSN, will continue to provide engineering, construction and maintenance services to five offshore assets - Cormorant Alpha, North Cormorant, Eider, Tern and Harding – extending an agreement in place since 2008. The value of the deal extension has not been disclosed. The two-year contract, effective immediately, also includes options for three, one year extensions. Wood Group Extends North Sea Chevron Contract

Wood Group has secured an extension to continue to support Chevron Upstream Europe across four offshore assets in the North Sea. Wood Group PSN (WGPSN) will deliver operations and maintenance services to the Alba Northern platform, Alba floating storage unit, Captain floating production, storage and offloading vessel and Captain wellhead protector platform, under the one year contract that extends an agreement in place since 2010. Effective immediately, the contract retains more than 30 jobs and adds to Wood Group's support of Chevron in the UKCS; Wood Group Kenny recently performed the subsea engineering of the trees, wellheads, controls and polymer injection flowlines to the subsea injection wells for Chevron's Captain Enhanced Oil Recovery Project.

Wood Group Wins PetroRio's Brazil Contract

Wood Group has been awarded a new contract by PetroRio to deliver services to the Polvo A platform, in the southern Campos basin, approximately 100 kilometres off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. Integrated operations and maintenance services will be provided by Wood Group PSN under the two year contract, which is effective immediately. The contract builds on Wood Group’s experience supporting the Polvo field, which consists of a fixed production and drilling platform connected to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). Wood Group Kenny has held two contracts to provide integrity management support to the field, the most recent of which completed in early 2015.

Wood Group has secured its second front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the proposed Browse floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) Development offshore Western Australia. Under the new contract with Woodside, effective immediately, Wood Group Kenny (WGK) will progress the configuration design of the flexible risers and umbilicals for the asset’s offshore gas-condensate fields - Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa. Wood Group Expands into Slovakia

Wood Group has expanded into Slovakia, opening an office in Bratislava that The Automated Technology Group, a Wood Group Mustang company, will use to support automation projects in Slovakia and the surrounding region. Three Specialists join Wood Group

Wood Group has appointed three senior engineering specialists who will lead a new team of up to 20 people in the UK to further build Wood Group’s capability in vibration, dynamics and noise. This follows the acquisition of BETA Machinery Analysis, a Calgary-based engineering consultancy specializing in advanced vibration analysis, and will include the opening of a Southampton office in January 2016. Mark Hutchinson will become operations manager of Wood Group’s UK vibration team, Jonathon Baker joins as sales and business development manager and Rob Swindell will take on the role of R&D and technical authority. These appointments bolster Wood Group’s integrity management capability by adding subsea vibration and fatigue experience to its onshore expertise.
