Zamakona Launches Siuana Arctica

Spanish shipbuilding and ship repair company Zamakona Yards reached a new milestone with the launching of the first of two new 69-meter reefer vessels to be built for the Greenlandic shipowner Royal Arctic Line A/S. Launching will take place February 4.The vessel will be named as Siuana Arctica and will replace the existing vessel Pajuttaat built in 1979. Conceptual design is being carried out by the Norwegian company Havyard Design & Solutions.The ship is designed to operate in northwest Greenland and have greater capacity than current ship. The ship will have the flag of Greenland and outfitting works will continue afloat being delivery expected to be by summer 2020.Zamakona Yards have closely worked with the shipowner and designer to provide the vessel with best performance at sea…

Zamakona to Build Two Ships for Royal Arctic Line

Government of Greenland owned shipping company Royal Arctic Line A/S has signed a contract with Spanish shipbuilder Zamakona Yards for the construction of two reefer ships with and the concept design will be conducted by the norwegian company Havyard. The two vessels will replace Pajuttaat and the charter ship Vestlandia, built in 1979 and 1983 respectively. The ships are designed to operate in northwest Greenland and have greater capacity than current ships. The ships will have the flag of Greenland and are expected to be delivered by  2020. This will alllow to Royal Arctic Line with the renewal of the vessels and accomplish an important milestone. Zamakona Yards will build the vessels with the latest technology and with the highest standar of quailty and efficiency.

Zamakona at Salon Halieutis 2017

Zamakona Yards will participate in this international event, with the objective of offering to the Moroccan and international fishing sector the services that our group offers specifically to the sector, such as the design, newbuid, repair and the refit of specialized vessels in any of our three shipyards located in the Canary Islands (Las Palmas Port) and in the Basque Country, specifically in the ports of Pasajes and Bilbao. A good example of our experience in the fishing industry of these types of vessels are the latest tuna vessels equipped with the most current technologies such as the Ízaro, Ljubica, Challenge and the Jai Alai. Morocco, due to its double slope, Atlantic and Mediterranean, is one of the most relevant players in the fishing sector.

Zamakona Repairs Spanish Hospital Ships

Spanish shipbuilding and repair group Zamakona Yards announced it has completed simultaneously repair and maintenance projects aboard two government-owned hospital ships, Juan De La Cosa and Esperanza Del Mar.   The vessel Juan De La Cosa was repaired at Zamakona Pasaia yard at San Sebastian, and the Esperanza Del Ma at the yard Repnaval in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Zamakona Builds Tuna Vessel for Echebastar

Zamakona Yards informs its Astilleros Zamakona shipyard will deliver new build EuskadiI Alai, the third tuna freezer vessel ordered by the Echebastar Group to the Bermeo Group Echebastar on Saturday at the maritime cruise station in Getxo, Port of Bilbao. Present for the ceremony will be Kepa Echevarría, Deputy Director of the Echebastar Group; Pedro Garaygordóbil, Zamakona Yards´ President; and the vessel’s godmother Miren Arantza Gabancho Munitiz, member of the company that owns the tuna vessel.

Shipbuilding Contract: Zamakona Nabs ESVAGT Deal

Astilleros Zamakona S.A, belonging to our group Zamakona Yards has signed a contract with the owner ESVAGT A.S, a company belonging to the multinational Danish AP Møller-Mærsk. The vessel will be delivered in the 2nd quarter of 2017 and will have the design and engineering of Havyard Design & Solutions A.S in cooperation with the ship-owner himself and our shipyard. It aims to make the change of crews in emergency assistance to offshore oil platforms, support for the maintenance operations of wind offshore facilities, etc.

Zamakona Adds Capacity with New Slipway

The shipyard in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Repnaval. SA, belonging to the group Zamakona Yards in the Canary Islands, is operating a new slipway. After an investment of nearly 5 million Euros, the slipway will double the existing capacity is it can accommodate vessels up to 120 meters length by 20 meters beam and 5,500 tons. With these new capabilities, Repnaval can serve almost 80 percent of the vessels that operate in its area, the yard said. While the yard has four slipways that can reach up to 120 meters in length…

Zamakona Delivers New Ship to Atlantic Offshore

Norwegian shipping company Atlantic Offshore A.S. took delivery of new offshore multipurpose vessel Ocean Falcon from Zamakona Yards at the builder’s facilities in Pasajes, San Sebastián. Ocean Falcon is the third and final vessels in a series built by Zamakona for Atlantic Offshore A.S., all similarly with Havyard HY820 design, but with a few technical variations between them. Its sisters, Ocean Osprey and Ocean Marlin, were the first and second of the contract, respectively.

Zamakona Inks Agreement with Subsea Masters

Zamakona Yards has signed a partnership agreement with British company Subsea Masters, a specialist in drilling equipment maintenance and repair.   With this agreement the Basque-Canarian Group expands its range of services adapted to the offshore industry.   The Subsea Masters is a subsidiary of the GEV Offshore group based in U.K. They will permanently be based in Zamakona Yards´ facilities and dedicate primarily to the maintenance and repair of drilling equipment, especially the drill pipes or Risers. These works will be undertaken with the support of Zamakona Yards´ staff.

Zamakona Inks Agency Deal with Stewart Group

Zamakona Yards has signed an agency agreement with the Stewart Group, owned by RS Platou&Clarksons, the shipyard announced.   The agreement will see the Stewart Group will offer its customers Zamakona Yards repair and maintenance services both afloat and in our shipyards.   The Stewart Group was founded in 1922 by Samuel Stewart and was purchased in 2008 by the Platou Group. Subsequently the Platou/Stewarts group has been purchased by Clarksons in 2015. It operates globally with major offices in Aberdeen, London, Accra, Cape Town, Singapore and Houston.

Zamakona to Deliver Tuna Freezer Vessel

This Saturday, March 7, Zamakona Shipyards in Santurce will deliver its construction number 737, the tuna freezer vessel Jai Alai, to bermeo Group Echebastar. Zamakona Yards' Commitment to Well-being

Recently employees of Zamakona Yards participated in a training course for maintaining Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). The theoretical practice focused on working at heights, in confined spaces and for cultivating prevention techniques and firefighting. The courses were taught by the prestigious ASEPEYO mutua insurer and to do it was enabled a complete simulator where practices were conducted. To Zamakona Yards safety comes first, and therefore we are constantly investing in training and resources for our workers since any effort in this area is small.

Halieutis Fair was a Big Draw

The third edition of the Salon Halieutis in the Moroccan city of Agadir came to a close yesterday. This fair is one of the most important international forums between professionals and companies in the extractive fishing, aquaculture and assessment of marine and fishery products. It involved more than 300 exhibitors and is estimated to have been visited by 60,000 people, including professionals and public in general. Zamakona Yards was also present at the event visiting major fleet owners who repaired in our shipyards in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and putting up with the current situation of this important sector and its latest developments.

Zamakona Refits Vessels VOS HERA & HADES

The Zamakona Yards in Pasajes has successfully finished the works carried o t in the vessels VOS HADES and VOS HERA that belong to the Company Vroon Offshore Services UK. The conversion required a major upgrade of the VOS H-Class to enable Rescue & Standby facilities for a Group B vessel. The project´s design done by OSD-IMT OFFSHORE SHIP DESIGNERS was created in order to meet the customer´s requirements and the UK MCA and UKOOA regulations. - New accommodation areas such as treatment area, hospital, reception, survivors and non survivors’ facilities, etc have been done. For those areas, new steel modules have been necessary, rearrangement of several spaces on board, new rescue zone, etc. - New bridge wings have been installed according to UKOOA requirements. – Painter booms, etc.

Reopening of the Caravel La Niña III

The delivery ceremony and reopening of the Caravel La Niña III, faithful replica of the ship of Columbus, the Caravel “La Niña III“ was held yesterday in the city of Las Palmas. Las Palmas is part of the network of Columbian cities of Spain, it is a symbol of the discovery of America, the pass of Christopher Columbus over the island of Gran Canaria and benchmark their contribution to the expansion of the Canary Islands, for its strategic location as a bridge between America, Europe and Africa. This replica of the Caravel “La Niña” was built in 1992 for the V centenary of the discovery of America. Zamakona Yards has led the restoration project of the same in cooperation with ground forces in a unique example of public-private initiative and corporate social responsibility.

Zamakona Yards Join Forces with GS Hydro

Zamakona Yards signed a collaboration agreement with finish Multinational GS Hydro. Launch of OCEAN FALCON in Pasajes

On November the 6th, Zamakona Yards Group successfully completed the launch of the ship “Ocean Falcon” at its facilities in Pasajes (San Sebastian, northern Spain). The ship is the third Zamakona Yards launches, of all three signed with the Norwegian shipping company Atlantic Offshore A.S. The primary mission of the ship is to provide prompt attention to emergencies on oil rigs, being specially adapted to the harsh conditions of the North Sea. It is there, where it will begin operations for the oil company SHELL in the second quarter of 2015. The ship constructed in Pasajes is a Field Support Vessel (FSV) with Havyard HY820 design and incorporates the latest technologies including systems for towing operations with a pulling capacity of 65 tons.

On October 18, Zamakona Yards celebrated in Getxo, Bizkaia the delivery of tuna freezer vessel Ljubica to the owner group Jadran based in Ecuador and Panamá. The event was attended by more than 200 people, including authorities and guests, acting as Godmother seven-year-old Matea Peric. The ceremony also attended Jardan Group president, Diego Miletic, as well as Zamakona Yards Group president, Pedro Garaygordobil. Tuna freezer vessel Ljubica is 89 meters long with a 14-meter beam, tanks for fish load of 2,000 cubic meters and accommodation for 35 people.

Zamakona Yards Delivers Tuna Freezer Vessel

Zamakona Yards yesterday celebrated in Getxo (Bizkaia) the delivery of the tuna freezer vessel LJUBICA, their latest construction to the owner group Jadran based in Ecuador and Panamá. The event was attended by over 200 people, including authorities and guests, acting as Godmother Matea Peric, a 7 year old girl. The ceremony also attended Jardan Group´s President, Mr. Diego Miletic and Mr. Pedro Garaygordobil, President of Zamakona Yards Group, as can be seen in the picture below these lines. The LJUBICA is a tuna freezer vessel of 89 meters length and 14 meters beam with tanks for fish load of 2.000 cubic meters and accommodation for 35 people. The vessel has the highest, modern and sophisticated technology in order to meet our customer´s needs and expectations.
